Belgium is quite well known for its chocolates, and is home to such chocolatiers as Godiva, Guylian, and Leonidas. So, it’s not surprising that in cities like Brussels, you’ll come across lots of chocolate shops and maybe even a museum or two devoted to the history of chocolate.

Breakfast in Brussels, Pret a Manger on the train, visiting Brugge (Bruges) then coming back for a Ramen dinner in Brussels.
Bruges, the capital of West Flanders in northwest Belgium, is distinguished by its canals, cobbled streets and medieval buildings. Its port, Zeebrugge, is an important center for fishing and European trade. In the city center’s Burg square, the 14th-century Stadhuis (City Hall) has an ornately carved ceiling. Nearby, Markt square features a 13th-century belfry with a 47-bell carillon and 83m tower with panoramic views.

Galler Chocolate Passion
Galler Chocolate - one of the world's most exclusive brands of chocolate.
Jean Galler was born into a luxury dessert environment. He liked working in the family confectioner's shop founded by his grandfather in 1930 and he has kept this passion since then.
At 16 years old, inspired by chocolate, he experiments this living material that fascinates him. To develop his knowledge and discover new savours, he studied in Basel (Switzerland), then with Gaston Lenôtre in Paris.
At 21 years old, he launched his own enterprise. 30 years later, the foundations of the company remain the same :
* passion for chocolate
* pride in perfection
* constant creativity
Today, the team of 80 employees design, produce and market pralines, ice-creams, chocolate pâtisseries, filled chocolate bars, as well as chocolate tablets, cat's tongues (cartoon cats moulded from chocolate), spreads, bite-sized chocolates,...
After having built up its reputation in its region, Galler is now found throughout the Belgian market in more than 2,000 sales outlets. Galler owns currently a network of stores in Belgium, France, Luxemburg, Japan, the Lebanon, the United States...
Frequently our company has been honoured with official recognitions. The most prestigious is undeniably the appointment as «Belgian Royal Warrant Holder», awarded in 1994. In 2002, Galler receives the « Innovation Prize» for the concept of CHOCOLAT-THE© at the Franchise Fair of Brussels.

Day Trip To Ghent, Belgium | Travel Vlog | World Culture Network
Welcome to our Ghent, Belgium vlog. This video is not as much a Ghent travel guide, but more of a Ghent, Belgium travel experience with food, attractions, and tourism that can be explored in 1 day in Ghent.
In this episode of #TheDayTripShow, we take a day trip from Brussels to Ghent, a port city in northwest Belgium. We take a tram to the Ghent Tourist Board office and get off the tram before the Koren Market to walk up the remaining distance.
After collecting a Gent City Cards, we head to the Gravensteen to explore this medieval monument. After a detailed tour, we continue our Ghent Day Trip looking for food. Ghent is shut on Mondays, so we settled for Mc Donald’s. After lunch, we went for a free water tram guided tour to get the gorgeous view of the Graslei in Ghent also known as mini-London.
We also visited St. Bavo’s Cathedral on our Ghent Day Trip. By the end of the day, the Market Square was magically lit up as we rushed for local Belgian Waffles, Belgian Hot Chocolate, and some traditional sugar sweets. We hadn’t explored it all, but our Ghent day trip from Brussels was truly eventful.
We highly recommend day trips from Brussels to both Ghent and Bruges in Belgium.

Testing Belgian Foods (Bruges, Belgium Food Tour) | Eileen Aldis Travel Channel
Belgian food. When you think of Belgium I’m guessing that visions of Belgian chocolate, Belgian fries, Belgian waffles and Belgian beer come to your mind - let the Belgian food tour begin! We set out in Bruges to eat ALL THE THINGS in one glorious day. We started out with a tip from our Airbnb host on where to find the best chocolate. There are over a hundred places to get chocolate in Bruges and, as she said, “Not all of them are good.” Enough said. We headed to BbyB which was started by Michelin chef, Bart Desmidt, and master chocolatier, Jan Verleye. Unfortunately it was closed with a big sign that pointed us to a CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL they were attending this day. Did we just stumble across a Belgian chocolate festival? Yes - praise be - we did. We heard about the science and concept of these designer chocolates and finally got to taste. It was a real experience and we’ve honestly never tried anything like it. The chocolate itself disappears quickly but the flavour releases slowly through your mouth and hits your taste buds long after. It was an amazing way to start this Belgian food tour. Next up? Belgian fries! We left the tourist area and went to a quiet place we’d already found in which we were the only non-locals. We ordered fries with mayonnaise (very traditional), ketchup, and a stew sauce that tastes like a Sunday roast in a dipping sauce. After that salty hit it was time to go back to sweet: enter Belgian waffles. I didn’t realize there are two types of Belgian waffles (from Brussels and Liège). We had the Liège waffles which are smaller and made with sugar. As the waffles cook the sugar caramelizes which makes this lovely crunch on the outside but it stays soft on the inside. Our waffle was piled high with whip cream, chocolate sauce, strawberries, and icing sugar. Perfection. Completely full, our last stop of the day was Belgian beer. We went to Cafe Vlissinghe - the oldest pub in town. It’s been in business since 1515 and has a coziness inside that you simply cannot manufacture. I don’t actually like beer but since we were in Belgium at a 500+ year old pub I figured I should give it a shot. The server recommended a cherry flavoured beer that, she said, didn’t really taste like beer. Right up my alley. She was right and I really enjoyed it. Marc had the ‘house’ beer and finished it happily as well. It was a great way to end the night after a whole day of two hungry Canadians trying Belgian food. If you’re in Belgium I’d definitely recommend these Belgian foods to try! Nothing disappointed, even with our high expectations, and you cannot ask for more. I hope you enjoyed this video! What was your favourite Belgian food we showed?
