#BecomingFilipino - Gigantes Islands, Iloilo
I heard rumors there were some amazing islands off the coast of Carles, Iloilo...
Wow!
That is all I can say.
I only spent two days roaming around Gigantes Islands, but you could easily spend a week in the area! The environment is just absolutely breath taking! From white sandy islands, to massive limestone cliffs, to hidden caves and lagoons...
Oh did I mention that the shellfish are incredible!
I don't even know what to type... just watch the video :)
One day at a time, One breathtaking group of islands at a time... #BecomingFilipino

Isla De Gigantes Islands Iloilo - Becoming Filipino
Today is the day we visit isla de gigantes, the most well known and popular islands in iloilo for filipinos to visit so we are becoming filipino.
Getting to isla de gigantes is pretty easy, from iloilo you ride a ceres bus to carles which will take around 3- 4 hours. From carles you can ride a tricycle for around 20 pesos to the pier to book your trip.
To get a private boat ranges in prices for different size boats, the cheapest 4/5 person boat is around 3500 pesos for the day.
Isla de gigantes has a huge reputation for being insanely beautiful and its true some of the islands are amazing. Its simply a must see place if you ever come to iloilo. Not so many tourists come here, i guess because its not as easy to reach. Which helps keep the beauty in the area.
Iloilo has some incredible places and island hopping trips to do, we feel like maybe it is a little overlooked by people who dont no just what beauty is here. Conception and carles have some amazing places and islands to see.
Slowly little by little we feel we are becoming Filipinos, doing things as Filipinos do. Hopefully 1 day in the future this will put us in a good situation to be able to stay here longer term and fit right into life in the Philippines.

Found Paradise in Islas de Gigantes | BEST VIDEO SO FAR | Philippines | Panay | Carles
Simply: WAUW! Islas de Gigantes is a little paradise! It has some vibes of El Nido and Coron, but it's far less discovered. In this video I'll show you everything :) Featuring a land tour in Gigantes Norte and the island hopping tour in Gigantes Sur.

--WHAT TO SEE IN ISLAS DE GIGANTES--
We did two tours. The tour over land and the island hopping tour.
► Land tour
We’ve mainly seen two places:
- The old lighthouse
- Bakwitan Cave
Both are places you can hang around for a long time! It made up for a good daytrip. NOTE if you want to get all the way through in Bakwitan Cave (it’s quite big) you need to be prepaired. Good shoes and flashlight. There are some narrow passways. Otherwise just do like me and return halfway to the same entrance you entered!
► Island hopping
We arranged this through our resort. It’s one of the highlights of Islas de Gigantes.
Main attractions are around Gigantes Sur (the southern island)
We saw:
- Little Boracay or Mini Boracay or actually Tinagong Dagat. Fine sand and clear blue water
- Antonia beach (great for lunch and snorkeling)
- Salt water lagoon Tangke (fly the drone if you dare! Or swim in the shallow water)
- Cabugao Gamay Island (take a picture and enjoy the view. The most famous spot of the whole tour)
- Sandbar! Last in our tour, and a good way to end! Make sure you walk a bit over the entire island, it’s nice!
--WHERE TO SLEEP IN ISLAS DE GIGANTES--
Most resorts are in Isla de Gigantes Norte. It’s not the fancy resorts, but basic ones with good facilities. You can get food inside as well. There are more luxury resorts popping up. I am curious what this place will look like in a few years time!
► Rosewood resort:
--WHERE TO EAT IN ISLAS DE GIGANTES--
We only ate at one place, in our resort. They had amazing scallops and other seafood! Or bbq pork, you name it. Not expensive and very tasty! NOTE that you have to bring your own lunch if you’re going island hopping!

Tangke Lagoon in Islas de Gigantes, Carles, Iloilo, Philippines
A place of beauty and a place of escape! Words are not enough to describe the beauty of this hidden paradise. You've got to see it for yourself.
Brigada: Isla de Gigantes of Iloilo
Aired: July 5, 2016
Gigantes Islands is considered a paradise in the Northern part of Iloilo. The place is a beach destination with island-hopping activities that can be compared with the Boracay Islands of Aklan. But this tourist place is not yet as commercialised as other beach destinations in the country like Boracay, Subic or Puerto Galera.

Bulubadiang Island in Islas de Gigantes, Carles, Iloilo, Philippines
How the Red Sea could have parted. Bulubadiang Island, 1.5 km away from the main island of Islas de Gigantes in Iloilo. The water was at least 2 meters deep when we crossed by boat at day time. We crossed again in the evening of same day, by foot. I wonder where did all the water go.
