Gornergratbahn - The Matterhorn Railway | Matterhorn Ski Paradise
An amazing scenic trainride through the snow by cogwheel train in Switzerland from the car free ski village Zermatt to mount Gornergrat. From the Gornergrat there is an spectaculair view over the swiss alps upon mount Matterhorn and the Monta Rosa Massif and the Gorner Glacier. The Matterhorn is also famous because of the TOBLERONE chocolate candybar with the drawing of the mountain Matterhorn in its logo. The narrow gauge rack railway tracks of the Gornergratbahn (The Matterhorn Railway) are aroud 9 kilometres long and from Zermatt you’ll pass the stations Findelbach, Riffelalp, Riffelberg and Rotenboden before it will arrive on Gornergrat at 3089m. The Glacier Express can bring you from Chur, Disentis, Andermatt, Brig and Visp to Zermatt in Canton Valais.

Die langzamste Schnellzug der Welt, die Glacier Express, fahrt von Chur uber Disentis, Andermatt, Brig und Visp nach das autofreie Zermatt in kanton Wallis von wo mann mit die Gornergratbahn weiter fahren kann.

Vanaf het bergstation Gornergrat op 3089m heb je een schitterend, bijna surrealistisch uitzicht over het Monta Rosa massief, de Gornergletscher en als ultiem hoogtepunt de Matterhorn. Het spoor van de Gornergratbahn is ca. 9 kilometer lang en Van Zermatt naar de Gornergrat passeer je de stations van Findelbach, Riffelalp, Riffelberg en Rotenboden. Dit hele gebied heeft ook prachtige skipistes. Met de Glacier Express (ook wel de langzaamste sneltrein ter wereld) kun je vanuit Chur via Disentis, Andermatt, Brig en Visp naar het autovrije Zermatt reizen.

The Gornergrat (English: Gorner Ridge; 3,135 m) is a rocky ridge of the Pennine Alps, overlooking the Gorner Glacier south of Zermatt in Switzerland. It is located about three kilometers east of Zermatt in the Swiss canton of Valais. The Gornergrat is located between the Gornergletscher and Findelgletscher and offers a view of more than 20 four-thousand metre peaks, whose highest are Monte Rosa, Lyskamm, Matterhorn, Dom and Weisshorn.

Le Valais suisse de Martigny à Zermatt
Deux incontournables du Valais suisse à savourer pleinement.
Tout d'abord la fondation Gianadda à Martigny. Au coeur d'un vaste domaine vous découvrirez :
- un espace d'exposition avec des oeuvres dignes des grands musées mondiaux
- un musée de l'automobile très complet avec des modèles d'exception
- dans l'immense jardin de la fondation vous admirerez le parc de sculpture, un des plus beaux d'Europe avec des oeuvres de Calder, Miró, César, Maillol....
Ensuite, en passant par le val d'Anniviers (villages de Grimetz et Saint-Luc) et le val d'Hérens (pyramides d'enseigne) vous découvrirez la station chic de Zermatt très appréciée des asiatiques.
En toile de fond, le Cervin avec son sommet en forme de pyramide est sans doute la montagne la plus photographiée au monde.
En moins d'une demi-heure le train du Gornergrat vous conduira à 3089 mètres, dans la plus haute gare ferroviaire à air libre d'Europe.
Du sommet du Gornergrat s'offre à vous l'un des plus beaux panoramas alpins d'Europe (plusieurs dizaines de sommet de plus de 4000 mètres) avec vue splendide sur le Cervin.
Profitez de ces moments de pur bonheur est un pur régal.

Zermatt is small city in canton Valais. This small touristic town closely linked to the world’s most famous mountain, Matterhorn. Zermatt is encircled by a famous ring of mountains over 4000 metres high.
From Zurich you can reach to Zermatt in about 3 hours easily by train. Zermatt is car free city, if you plan your journey by car you need to park the car in Täsch. Make sure that you pay attention for the weather forecast before you plan the trip.
don’t forget to visit Gornergrat, where you can see the second-largest glacier in the Alps and most 4000m high alpine peeks including Matterhorn. The train journey take half an hour from Zermatt to Gornergrat . It starts at an altitude of 1605 m and ends at 3090 m on the Gornergrat ridge Which is the Europe’s highest open-air cog railway.
SWITZERLAND: Villages near Zermatt [HD]
Visiting the beautiful swiss villages Täsch and Randa.
The village of Täsch is 1,449 metres above sea level and is home to around 998 people. It is situated 6 km from the world-famous tourist region of Zermatt and its majestic landmark - the Matterhorn.
Täsch is located in the Mattertal valley, which contains almost all the highest peaks in the Alps such as Dufourspitze, Dom and Weisshorn. The 4,490 metres high Täschhorn lies directly above the village.
Car drivers can park their cars at Täsch and continue by train to Zermatt, which is a car-free town.
Randa (1,406 metres above sea level) is the third-highest municipality in the Mattertal valley and is situated between Visp and Zermatt, which is about 9 km away.
The extended Baroque church in Randa, built in 1717, is a real gem.
The village of Randa has often been struck by natural disasters over the course of the centuries. In the early morning of 18 April 1991, huge boulders plunged into the valley. Three weeks later on 9 May, huge rocks plummeted into the hamlet of Lerch, the road linking Zermatt and the Brig-Zermatt Railway.
Randa and Täsch are municipalities in the district of Visp in the canton of Valais.

The Valais region in the South East of Switzerland is known for its sunshine! All this sun makes for a great growing season—fruits, vegetables, grains, grapes all grow very well here, making the food of the Valais so fresh and delicious. I tasted rosti, a fried potato hash, with pork sausage, at 3000 meters on top of Gornergrat and freshly made chicken with spaetzle on the Matterhorn. I sipped wines with a local vintner, ate handmade chocolates with a chocolatier and dined al fresco at family home on a hillside with a Michelin chef. Food is a way of life in the Valais, and it is savored. Don’t miss the apres ski bars in Zermatt to enjoy some of the local beers and wines too!
