Kundadri is a hill (826 mt) with dense forests in the Western Ghats located in Shimoga District Karnataka State, India.It is 70 km from Udupi city. This hill is known for 17th century Jain temple dedicated to thirthankara and the place is known to have given shelter to Acharya Kundakunda during earlier centuries. The main deity of this temple is Parshwanatha, 23rd tirthankar. Two small ponds formed by the rock on one side of this temple provided water to earlier sages. Government of Karnataka joined hands with a philanthropist from Mumbai[1] to construct an all-weather road to the top of the hill.[2]

Hello Everyone. Thanks for stopping by and showing interest in our new vlog on our trip to Kundadri.

We visited Kundadri on 26 Jan 2017 along with Rajath and Megha.

About Kundadri:
Kundadri is 380 Kms from Bengaluru and 32 Kms from Thirthahalli

Kundadri Hill is 826 Meters / 2710 Ft above sea level.

Government of Karnataka joined hands with a philanthropist from Mumbai to construct an all-weather road to the top of the hill.

Kundadri is named after a Jain monk Kundakundacharya.

Jain Temple on top is built during 17th Century.

Around Thirthahalli:

Sakrebailu Elephant Camp: 48 Kms from Thirthahalli. It houses several captive elephants.

Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary : 32 Kms from thirthahalli. This is one of the best places to spot birds.

Kavaledurga Fort : 20 kms : A 9th century fort.

More than two thousand years ago, a jain sage named Kundakunda Acharya stayed here and prompted the birth of this jain holy place.  A temple is constructed with stone statues of jain sages.

This is my ongoing expedition of South India which started from Manipal, Karnataka and this video is on Kundadri Hills located in western ghats. A few thousand years ago, a jain sage named Kundakunda Acharya stayed here and prompted the birth of this jain holy place. A temple is constructed with stone statues of Jain sages.
Kundadri Hill is a huge monolithic rock formation with various outgrowths and is about 3200 feet above sea level, surrounded by dense evergreen forest. Kundadri is an adventurous place for trekking. A rough stone paved path leads to the top of the hill in the middle of the dense forest.
On full moon day, one can experience sun rise and moon set simultaneously.

Transportation.
Kundadri is at a distance of about 80 km from Shimoga. And about 20 km from Theerthahalli town. From Shimoga , one has to take the National Highway NH 13 (Theerthahalli road) to reach Theerthahalli.
Then take State High way SH1 (Agumbe Road) up to Guddekeri and then take left deviation.Tottal distance from Bangalore to Theerthahalli is 332 km.From Mangluru to Theerthahalli is around 146 km.There are numerous buses from Udupi to Theerthahalli.From Udupi Railway station 86 km to Theerthahalli.

Kodachadri is a mountain peak with dense forests in the Western Ghats in South India, 78km from Shimoga. It is declared as natural heritage site by the Karnataka Government. and it is 13th highest peak of Karnataka.
Agumbe is a high-altitude village in the southwest Indian state of Karnataka. Surrounded by the Western Ghats mountains and lush rainforest, it’s known its many waterfalls, such as Onake Abbi, Bakarna and Jogi Gundi falls. The Sunset View Point overlooks forested valleys. Nearby is Sri Venugopala Krishna Swamy Temple. To the south, tigers, leopards and king cobras live in Someshwara Wildlife Sanctuary.
The Barkana Falls, formed by Seetha River, is a water falls located near Agumbe in Shimoga district of state of Karnataka, India and the water falls is among the ten highest waterfalls in India. This water fall region is filled with water only during rainy season.
Gudavi Bird Sanctuary is located in the Soraba taluk of Sagara Subdivision in the Indian state of Karnataka, on the Banavasi Road, 16.01 km from Sorab town. It is spread over an area of 0.74 square km. As per a 2009 survey, 217 different species of birds belonging to 48 families are found at this place.
Tiger and Lion Safari, Thyavarekoppa, Shimoga is located the state of Karnataka, India, with an area of 250 hectares, at a distance of about 10.0 km from Shimoga town, and 275.0 km from Bangalore.
