Kodachadri Trek - Hindulmane Falls - Nagara Fort (Shimoga, Karnataka)
Kodachadri (Jasmine of Hills in Kannada) is 100Km from Shimoga & 400Km from Bangalore.
It is 10th highest peak in Karnataka, Elevation of 1343M (~4400 feet).
Distance: 13Km one way (returning jeep can be taken via other route)
On the trek route, right in centre of valley is the magnificent Hindulmane Water Fall and many small streams. Since it not deep we can have bath there. (Luckily water would last even in summers).
The peak has Goddess Mookambika temple.
If you are lucky you might also be able to see Arabian Sea.
KSRTC bus can be taken till Sampekatte, from there Jeep. If coming by private vehicle that is also good option.
Moderate-Difficult for first timers
Terrain through Forest, grasslands, climbing small boulders, parts of steep ascend. There is alternate route of jeep, where you enjoy a bumpy roller-coaster ride.
Forest permit can be obtained at base & night camping not allowed.
You get many homestay options near the foothill for Stay. Near to peak you would get some basic Food items.
Very less Cellular connectivity.
Best time to visit : Post monsoon.
Nagara Fort, Approx 25Km from Kodachadri (on the way back to B'lore).
16th Century capital city, currently in partly ruined state. However, very photogenic place.

JOG FALLS -
Jog Falls, Gerosoppa Falls or Joga Falls is the second highest plunge waterfall in India located near Sagara taluk, Shimoga district in the state of Karnataka. It is a segmented waterfall which, depending on rain and season, becomes a plunge waterfall. The falls are a major tourist attraction and is ranked 131th in the world by the waterfall database. They are also known as the Gersoppa Falls or Jogada Gundi.
The falls are located on the Uttara Kannada and Sagara border.
HONNEMARADU:
Honnemardu derived its name from the Honne tree. However, the literal meaning of Honnemardu is Golden Lake. This is perhaps a reference to the fact that Honnemardu is located on the backwaters of the Sharavathi river.
It is in Sagara taluk, Karnataka about 35 km from Sagara on the way to Jog Falls, 12 km from Talaguppa and 392 km from Bangalore. With reservations, visitors in groups of at least 12 can stay overnight, with facilities for food, shelter and equipment rentals nearby.

In 1763, Hyder Ali, Sarvadhikari of Mysore captured this fort and called Hydernagar or Hydernagara after his name Hyder.
Shivappa Nayaka palace, fort, Devaganga tank, Neelakenteshwara temple and Gudde Venkataramana Swamy temple are worth visiting. The fort is built on a small hill, beside a lake. The fort has a system to circulate water around it for safety.
On the hill, within the fort, there are Darbar Hall (King's Court), remains of a palace, two tanks called Akka Thangi Kola (Tanks of two sisters), and a cannon. Devaganga tank is a cluster of seven tanks for bathing. Nagara in Kannada language literally means city. The place is amidst green thick forests which are giving way to urbanisation and eventually to deforestation.
My Take:
Jog was actually not planned, but since we were so near to the falls from our stay(around 5-6km) we went there. No much water. but the view was beautiful.
Honnemaradu was too peaceful and calm, we just loved it. The boat ride was superb and refreshing. Thanks to the guy BTW he didn't even take money from us.
Nittur hanging bridge was beautiful as we had seen in GoPro Man's video. We enjoyed it and spent a lot of time there.
Nagara fort or should I say Green fort? No words for the beauty.

The Government Museum (Shivappa Nayaka Palace) named after the popular 17th century king Shivappa Nayaka of the Keladi Nayaka dynasty is located in Shivamogga city (formerly known as Shimoga), the district headquarters of the Shivamogga district in the Karnataka state, India. Though named after the Nayaka king, according to art historian George Michell, the palatial bungalow was actually built by the 18th century Mysore ruler Hyder Ali. The two storied building comprises a Durbar hall (nobel court) with massive wooden pillars and lobed arched panels. The living chambers on the sides are at the upper level and have balconies and look down into the hall. Numerous antiquities collected from near by temples and archeological sites, such as sculptures, inscriptions and hero stones from the Hoysala era and later periods are on display at the palace grounds. The building is a protected monument under the Karnataka state division of the Archaeological Survey of India.
