China's Silk Road stretches more than 4,000 km over the northwestern regions. Our family, even grandparents, traveled only the central portion of China's Silk Road. We visited 5 cities over 10 days: Dunhuang, Turpan, Urumqi, Zhangye, and Xian.
*Note* We traveled this route in a less than usual way. Most people travel Xian - Zhangye - Dunhuang - Turpan - Urumqi - Tianshan (also known as Heavenly Lake)
