Top Things to See in China | A Guide to The Best Tourist Attractions in China
Top Things to do in China!
I know that this is long overdue and that I haven't posted a video in a while, but seriously China!! Anyways, this list is less about the top attractions in China and more about the best ones. Moreover, it features the off the beaten path destinations in China as well. So what are the most incredible things to do in China. Here's my take:
10) Changsha and the Mao Zedong Staute (长沙和毛泽东雕像)
This is crazy, in the capital of Hunan Province there's a giant statue of Mao Zedong that looks like something out of Mount Rushmore. Definitely a top thing to see in China.
9) Bifengxia Panda Base (碧峰峡大熊猫保护区)
The Panda Center in Chengdu is a bit over-touristed. That's why it's a great option to head to Bifengxia on the edge of the village of Ya'an, and up to this amazing place to visit in China.
8) Dunhuang Oasis (敦煌绿洲)
Up in Gansu Province there are a lot of amazing places to see! The Dunhuang Desert Oasis is an extension of the Gobi and is unreal!
7) The Westernmost Section of the Great Wall of China in Jiayuguan (对中国的嘉峪关长城的最西端科)
Sure, most people travel China specifically to see the Great Wall. Most head to Beijing. If you want an off-the-beaten-path option than Jiayuguan is perfect.
6) Yangshuo (阳朔)
In Guanxi Province Yangshuo is awesome. Limestone karst landscapes and beautiful river scenes make this an easy addition to the top things to see in China.
5) Mati Si and the Cliff Temples (马蒂思崖寺)
Mati Si is really cool. It's famous for the Buddhist Cliff temples, and they are very cool. Full of grottos and caves, this is a must see in China.
4) Zhangye Rainbow Mountains (张掖彩虹山)
This was probably the #1 thing I was looking forward to in China. However, most people don't even know about it. The Zhangye Rainbow Mountains are unreal, and a worthy addition to a travel itinerary in China that is full of amazing attractions.
3) Shangrila and the Songzanlin Monastery (香格里拉和松赞林寺)
Up on the border of Tibet in Yunan Province, the town of Shangrila is a really interesting visit. Lots of colourful people, interesting architecture, and the amazing Songzanlin Monastery.
2) Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces (龙的骨干梯田)
Near Guilin, the Drangon's Backbone Rice Terraces are a must-see in China. They were close to ending up as the number one thing to see in China on this list, but even the amazing landscapes of this place couldn't beat out...
1) Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and the Avatar Mountains (张家界国家森林公园和阿凡达山)
Actually, this was fairly easily my #1 Thing to see in China. The avatar mountains in Zhangjiajie National Forest park are crazy cool. The incredible mountains were the inspiration for the movie avatar. You need to see this place with your own eyes!
That's it for my list. What's on your top attractions list for China?

Mogao Caves (UNESCO World Heritage Site) in Dunhuang
From Jiayuguan, Max and I skated to the train station to go straight to Dunhuang, a frontier town at the western end of the Hexi Corridor. From this area, facing west, the Silk Road split into the Northern and Southern Silk Roads. Back in the day, Dunhuang can be considered the western most part of the Silk Road that was occupied by the Chinese. (It was also frequently conquered and occupied by other groups.) This is also the final stop of our road trip, but there are many landmarks in and around Dunhuang so our adventure continues for another few days. The first landmark that we visit is the Mogao Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We rode the shuttle bus in and came out using the Backfire Ranger X1 electric skateboards. All episodes:

Situated 130 meters above the Lhasa valley, the Potala Palace rises a further 170 meters and is the greatest monumental structure in all of Tibet. Overnight in the Desert in Dunhuang
After visiting the Mogao Caves, Max and I joined a few others for a tourist camping trip in the desert. The others turned out to be four girls. We rode camels, went sledding on sand dunes, drank, etc. Good times. I banged my head kind of hard while attempting to sandboard using a sled but I'm ok. I think. All episodes:

Using a Graduated ND Filter in Dunhuang, China
To see the other photos from Dunhuang Crescent Moon Temple and Oasis in China check follow the link:
About the Video:
I made my way far off the beaten path to visit a town called Dunhuang in the province of Gansu. Just outside of Dunhuang is a place called the Crescent Moon Oasis which also has a brilliant pagoda. It makes for one of the more unique travel destinations that I've ever been to. It was also one of the most photogenic spots I've seen in China thus far.
This episode is of the Getting the Shot variety which means that I take you through the process of taking a photo out in the field, in this case the desert oasis in Dunhuang, and then I take you back to the digital darkroom, also known as Lightroom 5, and edit the photo for you. This image was simple, and I show you the need to use a Graduated Neutral Densifying filter.
Anyways, lots more cool stuff coming! Stay tuned.
