Prayers - Boniface of Lausanne
Boniface of Lausanne
St Boniface (1183 – 1260) was born in Brussels, Belgium and educated by the Cistercian Nuns.
A noted student, he studied in Paris and between 1222 – 1231 he taught dogma firstly, in Paris and then in Cologne Universities.
In 1231, St Boniface was appointed Bishop of Lausanne in Switzerland and attended the First Council of Lyon. He served as Bishop until 1239 when he resigned following an assault brought about by his public denunciation of Emperor Fredrick II and local clergy for their corruption. St Boniface retired to the Cistercian Abbey in La Cambre where he served as Chaplain and where his relics are retained today.
St Boniface was canonised by Pope Clement XI in 1702. His Feast Day is 19th February.
Pray for us that we will hold firmly to the teachings of Jesus and teach others of his true love and mercy.

Manitoba is opening its doors to help prospective immigrants build stronger ties to francophone communities in the province.
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) is accepting requests from bilingual francophone candidates interested in conducting a pre-arranged, “exploratory” visit to the province.
These visits allow potential Skilled Worker applicants to research employment opportunities and communities in the province in order to make an informed decision on immigrating to Manitoba.
Skilled Worker candidates do not require a connection to Manitoba in order to be considered and all exploratory visits include an MPNP interview that could result in an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.
Manitoba has one of Canada’s largest francophone populations outside of Quebec, though the number has declined in recent years. Canada’s 2016 census found 46,000 people in the province who listed French as their mother tongue, a decline of 3.6 percent from 2011.
The MPNP is organizing the visits in association with the Conseil de développement économique des municipalités bilingues du Manitoba (CDEM), which supports economic development in the province’s bilingual communities.
“As immigration is critical to our economic growth, we are strengthening our partnership with CDEM to support the economic and cultural vitality of our francophone communities and Manitoba as a whole,” Ralph Eichler, Manitoba’s Economic Development and Training Minister, said in a news release.
“Our renewed partnership aligns with Manitoba’s Growing Through Immigration Strategy as it will help increase the size and diversity of the talent pool available to the Manitoba industry.”
CDEM’s participation ” will help prospective francophone immigrants build stronger ties to francophone communities in Manitoba and local economic opportunities,” the news release says.
The MPNP has updated its candidate screening guidelines to help facilitate the exploratory visit application process and selection criteria.
The Government of Manitoba and CDEM will be participating in a forum in Europe to connect Canadian employers with skilled francophone candidates.
The Destination Canada Mobility Forum is from Nov. 15 to 17 in Paris, France, and will be in Brussels, Belgium on Nov. 18.
The MPNP said it nominated 235 francophone immigrants at Destination Canada in 2018, totaling 4.5 percent of the year’s nominations.

Breaking News - Tintin and the vanishing murals
Tintin and the vanishing murals: Brussels races to save art
He's one of the best-known artists of the 20th Century but, before The Adventures of Tintin, the Belgian artist Hergé created art of a different kind - murals at the Brussels school where he once studied. In the early 1920s Hergé, then a 15-year-old Georges Remi, was a scout and student at Institut St Boniface, in the Ixelles area of Brussels. He adorned the walls of the old scout HQ with lovingly rendered art showing scouts and Native American Indians, as well as a map of Belgium. But now the small garage is in disuse, the walls are in a poor state and many of his drawings have crumbled away.
Tintin's popularity is enduring. The intrepid reporter is a symbol of Belgian culture and helped to inspire an entire art form in the early days of the comic book.
Although Tintin was created in the 1920s, it was during his 1940s run in the Belgian newspaper Le Soir that he really took off.But Le Soir's very existence hinged on its support for the Nazi regime. Accusations of being a Nazi sympathiser have dogged Hergé ever since. Read more about Tintin:
Yet Tintin is still adored the world over. He even got the Hollywood treatment, with a in 2011 film by Steven Spielberg. For that reason, according to historian and archivist Thierry Scaillet from the Catholic University of Louvain (Leuven), it's essential to preserve this first graphical trace of Hergé.It's the only place we know of that still exists where Hergé decorated the walls, he says.
There were other frescoes by him in the same school but those walls disappeared after World War Two.It's the oldest work by Hergé that we know of, Mr Scaillet told the BBC.He sees a clear link between those formative years as a scout and the exploits Hergé would later create for Tintin and his little white dog Snowy.Scouts like the young Georges Remi would
