The Garden of One Thousand Buddhas is a spiritual site near Arlee, Montana, within the Flathead Indian Reservation in Lake County, Montana. Currently under construction, the monument portion of the site is 750 square feet in area and the surrounding garden is spread across 10 acres of land. It is intended to be a pilgrimage destination for the Western hemisphere and is expected by its builders to become a major place of worship for people of many faiths. It is free to the public and will feature over one thousand statues.

The National Bison Range is a National Wildlife Refuge located in western Montana established in 1908 to provide a sanctuary for the American bison. The NBR is one of the oldest National Wildlife Refuges in the United States. The size of the bison herd at the NBR is relatively small, numbering between 350 and 500 individuals. The initial herd of American bison was provided by organizations such as the American Bison Society, and today the refuge serves as the central point for bison research in the United States. The NBR consists of approximately 18,800 acres and is managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The lake is a remnant of the ancient, massive glacial dammed lake, Lake Missoula of the era of the last interglacial. Flathead Lake is a natural lake along the mainline of the Flathead River. It was dammed in 1930 by Kerr Dam at its outlet on Polson Bay, and the lake level was raised by 10 feet. It is one of the cleanest lakes in the populated world for its size and type.
