Maastricht, Medieval walls, Basilica of Our Lady, St. Servatius, Netherlands It was toward the end of May in a sunny warm day, with many people outdoor, enjoying the warmth of the sun. Near the statue of a donkey, at the place where the Ezelmarkt (Donkey Market) used to be, we’re reminded to remember those donkeys that were so helpful in the past for transport. Earlier in the day I spent a good amount of time at De Onze-Lieve-Vrouwebasiliek (The Basilica of Our Lady), reflecting on my time together with Mary there. From there I walked to ‘het Vrijthof’ square which has attracted people since Medieval times when pilgrims came to see the grave of Saint Servatius. These days, Vrijthof is known for its outdoor cafés and events. From there I walked to Medieval City-Wall dating from 1229, listening to Harp and Hang, a musical instrument in the idiophone class created by Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer in Bern, Switzerland. The body of water by which I was sitting is called Jeker that feeds into Maas River. Then I walked to Sint Hilariusstraat to enjoy my geranium , pansis petunia flowers. I think the street was named after Pope Hilarius who was the bishop of Rome from 461 to February 28, 468. There I met a lady reading a book about a guy who moved from Washington DC to Nigeria and she told me how the story evolves around of how young kids could easily be indoctrinated and brainwashed to commit horrible acts of terrors. As the rain started I walked back to one of the cafe by De Onze-Lieve-Vrouwebasiliek, under umbrella and great glass of Merlot

Het authentieke huisje heeft een charmante tuin en ligt in Turkeye, een klein gehuchtje in West Zeeuws Vlaanderen. Met de renovatie (bijna klaar) is zoveel mogelijk rekening proberen te houden met oude details maar wel gecombineerd met comfort.
De ruimte
GRATIS gebruik van WIFI, interactieve televisie! INBEGREPEN in de prijs; toeristenbelasting, beddegoed (opgemaakt bed), handdoeken, koffie/thee, badschuim.
Je bent volledig zelfstandig. Het huisje is voorzien van een keukentje met gasfornuis, magnetron/hetelucht oven, Senseo- én Nespresso-apparaat en waterkoker.
Je slaapt onder een romantisch Frans kapje met oude kraaldelen en balken in het zicht. Grenzend aan de slaapkamer ligt de badkamer met een bad op pootjes. Badschuim is altijd aanwezig ;-) De badkamer heeft een separate douche, toilet en wastafel. Het 2-persoons bed heeft 2 matrassen en kan uit elkaar geschoven worden. Het huisje wordt verwarmd middels centrale verwarming met (oude) radiatoren waardoor het ook in de winter lekker warm is. De blauwe Art Deco houtkachel werkt helaas niet meer.
Het (dijk)huisje heeft een deels open trapgat en is daardoor niet geschikt voor kinderen. Baby's die nog niet kunnen kruipen/lopen is geen probleem. Dan graag een eigen bedje meenemen.
Je verblijft midden op het platteland dus als je ergens naar toe wilt moet je wel de auto pakken. Strand is bv 10 minuten rijden, dichtsbijzijnde supermarkt 3 km. Afhankelijk van het seizoen kan er meer (tractor) verkeer zijn. De slaapkamer grenst aan de dijk. Het oogsten start in augustus met een piek in september en oktober!

3 dagen verken ik de Schotse Hooglanden. De stad Inverness wordt ook wel de hoofdstad van de hooglanden genoemd, vanuit daar ga ik hiken, dolfijnen spotten met een RIB, kanoën, fietsen, een cruise maken over Loch Ness, whiskey proeven en natuurlijk.... de kilt van een heuse Schot omhoog tillen...
