The road that sings has tired the Dutch In Jelsum
In the village of Jelsum, in the Netherlands, they are tired of the road that sings. Rough bands located on the sides of the road make the passing of cars at a specific speed sound a melody that was intended to liven up the journey of drivers.
Instead, the song heard has become a nightmare for the inhabitants of this town, who are inundated by a continuous cacophony as several cars pass through that area. In fact, they have managed to get rid of those bands.
The idea that those in charge of the region had with these bands was twofold: on the one hand, to brighten up the journey and to do something more enjoyable to all the drivers. On the other, try to make the motorists slow down when listening to that song, which was none other than the anthem of the Dutch region of Friesland.
The sound was produced when passing the cars at a speed of 60 km / h in those areas, and although a driver could perceive it properly, the effect for pedestrians was not so pleasant: all the cars ended up generating a cacophony with the notes of that hymn overlapping.
This has caused the authorities in the Friesland region to remove these peculiar rugose bands. The use of this type of elements in the roads is usual in the continuous lines of the margins to warn the drivers that they are too close to the lateral limits, but this way of taking advantage of them is of course surprising ... and finally too annoying, It seems.
If You Think These Bubbles All Over Holland Are Unique, Wait Til You See The Insid

In the 1980’s, the Dutch government granted a large subsidy to the municipality of ‘s-Hertogenbosch situated north-west of Eindhoven. They had the idea to create “experimental living” spaces that were designed by architect Dries Kreijkamp. He is said to have wanted to create “the optimal experience of nature in all its facets”. I’m not sure how these go about doing that, but they are extremely interesting nonetheless. Check out the crazy bubble house, you may realize it’s everything you’ve ever wanted

Why California's Musical Road Sounds Terrible
In Lancaster, California, there's a musical road. When you drive over it, it plays the William Tell Overture. Unfortunately, it's out of tune. Here's why.
Thanks to David Simmons-Duffin, who figured this out about nine years ago: -- he seems to be the first to have figured out not just that it's wrong, but exactly what happened!

Not-so-sweet symphony? Singing road forced to close due to unhappy residents

A 'singing' road in the village of Jelsum was closed after residents complained about disruptive sounds, footage filmed on Tuesday reveals.
The road is located in the Friesland province where, apart from Dutch, people also speak Frisian and have their own anthem, which was recently placed into the road asphalt as so-called rumple strips.
If you go 60 kilometers per hour you can hear the tones of the beginning of the Fries anthem. You can hear it really clearly, shared one of the residents, adding that he really enjoyed the idea.
Another resident also added that she liked the singing road, though heard that some tried to drive backwards in attempt to listen to the anthem conversely, which resulted into some dangerous road situations.
We got scared at first. So I ran downstairs with my survival knife to look and see what it was. But it was coming from the road, said another resident, adding that the sound could be heard constantly.
Especially the people who live directly along the road. They can hear it 24-hours [a day]. Which makes me understand why it is a negative experience for them.
