Sardinia: Santu Antine Nuraghe | Italia Slow Tour
The Santu Antine Nuraghe (Sardinia, province of Sassari) dates from 1250/1300 B.C. and it was built on the ruins of a pre-existing nuraghe! Rounded, made of porous basalt, we can consider it a regular fortress. Like all the nuraghe, it had a function of control of the area. You know, nuraghes were the residences of the chieftains, but above all they were fortified structures, built by those who had power in the community, the exact equivalent of a medieval castle.
