Bregenz is the capital of Vorarlberg, the westernmost state of Austria. The city is on the eastern shores of Lake Constance, the third-largest freshwater lake in Central Europe, between Switzerland in the west and Germany in the northwest. The city is on a plateau falling in a series of terraces to the lake at the foot of Pfänder mountain. It is a junction of the arterial roads from the Rhine valley to the German Alpine foothills, with cruise ship services on Lake Constance. It is famous for the annual summer music festival Bregenzer Festspiele as well as the dance festival Bregenzer Spring.

The Zugspitzebahn was the first wire ropeway to open the summit of the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain on the border of Austria. Designed and built by Adolf Bleichert & Co. of Leipzig, Germany, the system was a record-holder for highest altitude. Opening in 1926, the Zugspitzebahn connected the Austrian town of Ehrwald with the top station at 2,950 metres above sea level next to the summit of Zugspitze. Peter von Bleichert wrote a book on Bleichert's Wire Ropeways that contains information on the design, construction, and operation of the original Zugspitzebahn.The modern Tyrolean Zugspitze Cable Car has a top station opposite the one of the German Eibsee Cable Car system. It is similar to alpine slides where a low-wheeled sled is used to navigate the track, but instead of running over smooth concave tracks like the alpine slide, alpine coasters run on rails with up-stop wheels like traditional roller coasters. Thus, an alpine coaster isn't necessarily safer due to the jerky movements the cart makes as it navigates its way on a fixed track. Lünersee Vorarlberg Brandnertal Österreich Austria Wandern

Der Lünersee ist einer der größten Seen im österreichischen Bundesland Vorarlberg in der Gemeinde Vandan.
Er liegt auf einer Höhe von 1970 m ü. A. am Fuße der Schesaplana.
Das Gebiet um den See bildet den Talabschluss des Brandnertals, der nur über schmale Steige oder die Lünerseebahn vom Gebiet Schattenlagant aus erreichbar ist. Direkt bei der Bergstation an der Staumauer liegt die Douglasshütte, die unter anderem als Jausen- und Übernachtungsmöglichkeit für Wanderer dient.
