AZORES: Ponte Delgada city - São Miguel Island
Ponta Delgada started off as a humble fishing community and gained importance from 1522, following an earthquake that destroyed the island’s former capital, Vila Franca do Campo. It was King João III that gave Ponta Delgada its city status in 1546. Throughout the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, the busy port became an obligatory stopping and supply station for ships en route from the Mediterranean, Portugal and Africa to the Americas and the West Indies.
Jardim José do Canto is a botanical garden. José do Canto (1820-1898) was a cultured wealthy man and a nature lover. Well versed in the secrets of botany, he established contacts with botanical gardens and nurseries from around the world, from whose he bought, sold or exchanged plants. The current garden, with an area of 5,8 ha, does not have the botanical wealth of the time of its creator, but remains a place of great landscape and botanical intererst.
Jardim António Borges is a public park/garden, one of the largest and most lush areas in Ponta Delgada. António Borges da Câmara de Medeiros (1812-1879) was an avid amateur botanist, interested in introducing new species to the island. His property became an extremely rich and interesting garden. It was acquired by the City Council in 1957.

Belmonte - Serra da Estrela - Portugal
Located in the middle of Cova da Beira and wide view over the eastern slope of Serra da Estrela, Belmonte village fully justifies the features that have given the it's name.
Tradition has it that the name Belmonte comes from the place where the village stands (beautiful or handsome hill monte). However, there are those who give the origin of belli hill - Hill of war. Land of sunny, good people, endless landscapes and a history of centuries.
A Fairytale Wedding in Lisbon, Portugal - Jessica Sheets & Lucho Rossman
Although they legally tied the knot in February with Justice of the Peace David Patronella presiding, Dr. Jessica Sheets and Dr. Lucho Rossman did the wedding-gown and broom-jumping thing in Lisbon, Portugal, with more than 60 friends and family as witnesses and with Gordon Bethune, former Continental Airlines CEO, officiating.
The couple, both radiologists at Methodist Hospital, organized three days of activities surrounding the wedding ceremony including a champagne and port reception in Lisbon, a day tour to the picturesque town of Sintra, a lavish rehearsal dinner and the wedding at the opulent Pestana Palace Hotel.
Presiding over the wedding ceremony was a first for Bethune, long-time squeeze of Rossman's sister Jessica Rossman. A fun aside: They found the broom in hotel housekeeping in order to include that tradition in the ceremony.
Dinner and dancing followed in the adjoining stables (elaborately redesigned for swank soirées) where guests partied late into the night.

pas grand chose a voir ou a espérer. 4 personnes dans la rue,une cloche qui sonne tous les quinze minutes.village semi-en ruine,je vous rassure,quelques belles maisons au bas du village.
le temps s'est arrête .reste des personnes âgées,.contentes de vous faire la causette.
ah oui ,l'espoir,une petite école,avec 6 élèves...enfin un peu de bruit en cette chaude après-midi.allez je vous quitte ,c'est l'heure de la sieste...
Das geheime Leben der geheimen Juden in den hohen Bergen Portugals
„Geheimnisvolles zu erforschen, ist spannend“, sagt Graça. Nachdem sie ihr Leben als Betriebswirtin in Lissabon gegen das einer Pensionswirtin im Dorf Caria eingetauscht hat, beginnt sie, geheime religiöse Kulte der Juden während der Inquisition zu erforschen. Eng mit ihr zusammen arbeitet Miguel aus Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo. Beide fotografieren und dokumentieren die Häuser und Embleme im Judenviertel. Der Initiative der beiden am Rande der Serra da Estrela verdankt das Nest, dass Touristen aus aller Welt, sogar aus Brasilien und Israel, trotz der 400 Jahre langen Herrschaft der Inquisition ein einzigartiges jüdisches Erbe vorfinden.
Kyoto Day Out - Green Tea Parfaits, SOU-SOU Shopping, Oiran Experience & Dress up!
Last week a few girlfriends and I went to Kyoto for a day trip. We went to a green tea restaurant and had green tea parfaits. Followed by a trip to SOU SOU a Japanese fabric and fashion store in Kyoto. The clothes and fabrics were so cute! Very nice place to go to. Followed by some walking around eating weird foods! We also tried Oiran (Japanese kimono!) experience and had our photo taken. Loved it! Had such a great day so check it out!

Vilamoura Golf Challenges - The First of Many
The inaugural Vilamoura Golf Challenges was held this past weekend from 17th to the 19th of November and thoroughly enjoyed by all participants.
This weekend break's program developed by the IGT and sponsored by the leading Vilamoura bar Cat´s, introduced a Thursday to Sunday program which included a 3 night accomodation package, 2 rounds of competition golf over the Pestana Vila Sol GC, Welcome Gift Packs with snacks and drinks, on-course quality lunches and drinks and lots of after golf activities in and around Vilamoura.
All participants enjoyed quality service and golfing over their 4 day stay in Vilamoura and thoroughly enjoyed themselves, with particular mention of the on-course treatment they all received. We must thank our sponsor's Rocha and Catia and their staff, and Taskinha Restaurant for their dedication and hard work to ensure a great time was had by all.
