The first you notice about Serra da Estrela is the unexploited and raw nature of its territory. A landscape that hasn't changed in the last 10 thousand years, sculpted only by the elements into a smooth arrangement of high altitude plateaus. In the midst of its protruding round granite formations called Fragas, a hand full of tiny heritage villages are scattered among high altitude forests, waterfalls, natural lakes and glacier valleys.
Inhabited by very few people, these communities still embody the shepherd heritage of the Serra da Estrela. More so, it provides you a glimpse into an almost uninfluenced Portugal. You see it's not only its territory but also its people who are raw too.
This story is narrated by a young boy, who only is at the top of his class in school, he loves being a weekend Sheppard. Probably the youngest herder in Portugal, he refuses to be sucked into the screen of his mobile phone and gracefully accepts his family's open-air Serra da Estrela heritage.

Day 1 of 2 around the Serra da Estrela region of Portugal.
Weather not the best but improved no end on day two. Stunning scenery, great roads, can't turn a corner without coming across another photo opportunity and seeing in contrasting weather conditions over the 2 days gave such different experiences. Brilliant. Video shot on Sony FDR-X1000v at 1080p 25 fps using standard sony mounts stuck to the screen, top box and left pannier and edited in Davinchi Resolve 14 Beta.

During the whole of 2016 I had the chance to explore Portugal's most diverse region: Centro de Portugal.
Centro de Portugal is a mosaic of diversified landscapes and experiences, sun and ocean, schist and granite trails, innovation and tradition, design and historical legacy, exquisite gastronomy and remarkable wines, ideal for contemporary cosmopolitan consumers who search for new experiences!

Aveiro in Centro de Portugal
Official Selection Art&Tur 2017 International Film Festival
The city of Aveiro is the second largest city in Centro de Portugal. What makes the place so unique is the fact that the entire city is built on a lagoon - Ria de Aveiro - the result of the confluence of many rivers at a point on the Atlantic coast which had silted up in the past, resulting in a vast network of canals and navigable water courses, winding through and around the city streets. Although slightly unfair to the city of Aveiro, it is difficult not to let the cliché, 'the Venice of Portugal' slip from your astonished lips.
The city's uniqueness is also derived from a combination of elements; a place where Art Nouveau meets modernity, where spanking new shopping centres cosy up to the blue-tiled facades of centuries old fishmongers, bakeries, and cafes, where the bountiful fruits of the ever present sea are paired lovingly with the land's cornucopia of flavours. A place where the colorfully painted Moliceiros - the traditional boats used to transport the seaweed which nourished the lands - now carry tourists through the city's canals, only meters from busy urban streets.
