Cernobbio is a comune in the province of Como, Lombardy, northern Italy. It is located about 40 kilometres north of Milan and about 2 kilometres northwest of Como, on the border with Switzerland and near the Lake Como. The highest peak is the Monte Bisbino, at 1,325 metres . Cernobbio borders the following municipalities: Blevio, Breggia , Como, Maslianico, Moltrasio, Vacallo . Cernobbio received the honorary title of city with a presidential decree on May 24, 2005.

  • 1. Villa Erba Cernobbio
    Villa Erba is a 19th-century villa in Cernobbio, on the shores of Lake Como, Italy. It was built by Luigi Erba, brother of the prominent businessman Carlo Erba , to show off his wealth. After the death of Luigi Erba, the villa was inherited by his daughter Carla and was used by members of Carla's family, including her son Luchino Visconti. In 1986, it was bought by a public consortium to use as an exposition and congress center. In 2004, the villa served as a filming location for the movie Ocean's Twelve. In early 2005, American singer Gwen Stefani, shot the music video for her 2005 single, Cool, on the villa's grounds. In the same year, a leg of Anastacia's Live at Last Tour was hosted in the villa's park.

    Monte Bisbino is a mountain of the Lugano Prealps, located west of Lake Como. It lies in the Italian region of Lombardy, just 200 metres south of the Swiss border with the canton of Ticino. It has an elevation of 1,325 metres above sea level, the Swiss border reaching a height of 1,244 metres. Monte Bisbino can be reached with a paved road from Cernobbio . A church lies on the top.

    The Villa d'Este, originally Villa del Garovo, is a Renaissance patrician residence in Cernobbio on the shores of Lake Como, northern Italy. Both the villa and the 25-acre park which surrounds it have undergone significant changes since their sixteenth-century origins as a summer residence for the Cardinal of Como. Nevertheless, visiting the garden in 1903 for Century Magazine, Edith Wharton found this to be ‘the only old garden on Como which keeps more than a fragment of its original architecture’, and noted that ‘though Queen Caroline anglicised part of the grounds, the main lines of the Renaissance garden still exist’.Since 1873 the complex has been a luxury hotel.
