Beijing means northern capital, in line with the common East Asian tradition whereby capital cities are explicitly named as such. The city has been renamed several times. This is a very popular place according to all the guide books. We don't think this place is a tourist trap, but it is expensive at $23 USD a person (they did not charge for our 10 yr old). We are not tea experts, it just tasted like tea. Go for the people watching and the view (not the snacks). Make sure to sit upstairs at one of the widows.
