The magnificent buildings within Mozart's famous city of Salzburg are not the only reason why it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Austria. The Prince Archbishop, Wolf Dietrich, ordered that Salzburg Cathedral be built according to Italian Early Baroque design. It was constructed between 1614 and 1628 on the site of a previous Romanic building. At one time the Getreidegasse served as the main road of the old city and on January 27th 1756, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in house number seven, 119 metres above the town is one of Middle Europe's most well preserved castles, Hohensalzburg, which covers an area of around 30,000 square metres. The centre of Kapitel Square is dominated by a Schwemme, a fountain that dates back to the 18th century where the city's horses were washed down. There are numerous impressive sacred buildings in the city such as the Baroque Kollegien Church designed by Johann Bernhard Fischer Von Erlach. A fascinating and remarkably attractive park surrounds the Lustschloss Hellbrunn that dates back to both the Manieristic and Early Baroque period. The interior of the palace is as beautiful as its external appearance. Illusionist architectural paintings were a popular device designed to alienate reality. Due to the exquisite taste of the royal archbishops of a glorious age, today Salzburg is one of the most beautiful Baroque cities in Europe.

Dibangun sejak abad 13 dengan berbagai gaya arsitektur sesuai dengan penguasa saat itu.

Hofburg Palace is a palace located in Vienna, Austria, that has housed some of the most powerful people in European and Austrian history, including the Habsburg dynasty, rulers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It currently serves as the official residence of the President of Austria. It was the Habsburgs' principal winter residence, as the Schönbrunn Palace was their preferred summer residence.
The Hofburg area has been the documented seat of government since 1279 for various empires and republics. The Hofburg has been expanded over the centuries to include various residences (with the Amalienburg), the Imperial Chapel (Hofkapelle or Burgkapelle), the Naturhistorisches Museum and Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Austrian National Library (Hofbibliothek), the Imperial Treasury (Schatzkammer), the Burgtheater, the Spanish Riding School (Hofreitschule), the Imperial Horse Stables (Stallburg and Hofstallungen), and the Hofburg Congress Center.
The Hofburg faces the Heldenplatz ordered under the reign of Emperor Francis Joseph, as part of what was to become a Kaiserforum that was never completed.
Numerous architects have executed work at the Hofburg as it expanded, notably the Italian architect-engineer Filiberto Luchese (the Leopoldischiner Trakt), Lodovico Burnacini and Martino and Domenico Carlone, the Baroque architects Lukas von Hildebrandt and Joseph Emanuel Fischer von Erlach (the Reichschancelry Wing and the Winter Riding School), Johann Fischer von Erlach (the library), and the architects of the grandiose Neue Burg built between 1881 and 1913.

Salzburg merupakan salah satu kota tua dan menjadi terdaftar sebagai warisan dunia UNESCO tahun 1996. Dikota ini kita akan mengenang satu kompnis besar dunia Mozart yang dilahirkan di kota ini pada abad ke 18. Salzburg (pelafalan bahasa Jerman: [ˈzaltsbʊɐ̯k], secara harfiah puri garam, adalah kota terbesar keempat di Austria dan ibukota Negara Federal Salzburg.
Kota ini dibangun sejak zaman Kekaisaran Romawi yang menyebut kota ini sebagai Juvavum yang merupakan penyatuan pemukiman – pemukiman penduduk lama dan menjadi salah satu kotamadya Kekaisaran Romawi pada tahun 45 M, menjadi kota terpenting bagi provinsi Noricum, hingga berkurang perannya setelah keruntuhan perbatasan Norican pada abad ke 7. Kota ini hidup kembali pada abad ke 8 setelah Saint Rupert diangkat menjadi uskup dan menghidupkan kembali kota itu dan mengubah kota Juvavum menjadi Salzburg. Nama Salzburg berarti Kastil Garam (Latin: Salis Burgium). Nama ini berasal dari tongkang membawa garam di Sungai Salzach.
Arsitektur kota awalnya bergaya Romantic dan Gotic, merupakan bangunan gereja – gereja romawi dan Gotik seperti Pada akhir era Gotik, gereja Collegiate Nonnberg, Kapel Margaret di Pemakaman St. Peter, Kapel St. George dan aula megah Stok Hoher di Benteng Hohensalzburg dibangun.
Renaissance dan barok juga memberikan sentuhan pada kota ini terutama pada proyek – proyek istana Hellbrunn, universitas, benteng dan Gereja Erhard dan Kajetan di selatan kota. Perancangan ulang kota ini dilengkapi dengan bangunan yang dirancang oleh Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach, disumbangkan oleh Pangeran Uskup Agung Johann Ernst von Thun.
Kota ini terus berkembang dan akhirnya melahirkan sebuah harmoni dengan penggabungan modernisme klasik dan modernisme pascaperang, beberapa bangunan mulai dibangun pada tahun 2001menggantikan bangunan seperti rumah Zahnwurzen (di Linzergasse22 ) di pusat kota tua, “Lepi” (pemandian umum di Leopoldskron) dan pusat kongres yang sibangun tahun 1957, Contoh penting dan terkenal dari arsitektur era ini adalah pembukaan Großes Festspielhaus tahun 1960 oleh Clemens Holzmeister.
