The Lost Coast as seen from Highway One, California
A nice enough photograph that moves but this is really another experiment in deinterlace. I imported 1080i from my camera (Panasonic HDC-SD9) into iMovie 09 and with minimal editing (just select the footage) exported it as a QuickTime movie using AIC codec set to preserve interlacing. I then deinterlaced using the free DES deinterlacer and exported as a QuickTime movie using AIC progressive. I did the video editing in QuickTime trying to avoid any sneakiness on iMovies part and exported as H264. Best quality key all at about 700 MB per minute made my antiquated G5 with a mere 4GB memory shudder a bit so I settled for High at key every 15 and at about 250 MB per minute it looks pretty good. Now lets see what YouTube does with it. Remember, it may take a couple of days for them to crunch on it. Be sure you are watching 1080p. (You might want to go out for dinner and a movie while it downloads.)
P.S. This is nowhere near as sharp as it was three years ago. My guess is that it has been re-encoded to reduce the file size.
