The journey from Xiahe ( to Langmusi ( should to be a boring travel day. And you have to travel if you want to see something. However, it was a great day. Yes, we spent some hours in the bus. But the landscape was beautiful, especially because off the fresh snow form the night before. So, we really enjoyed this travel day from Xiahe to Langmusi.

Dazu, Rock Carvings Beishan, Chongqing - China Travel Channel
The Dazu Rock Carvings are about 1.5 hours drive north-west of Chongqing. At 75 different sites in the Chongqing Municipality, estimated 50,000 Chinese religious sculptures were carved in stone, with the oldest statues dating back to the early Tang Dynasty.
The most famous can be visited on the North Mountain (Bei Shan) and around Treasure Chest Mountain (Baoding Shan).
In the 9th century, a military outpost of the Shu Kingdom was located at the foot of the North Mountain. Many Buddhists sought refuge here during persecution. A general gave the orders to build the first sculptures.
Since 1999, the carvings belong to the UNESCO world heritage sites.

Die Felsskulpturen von Dazu liegen ca. 1,5 Autostunden nordwestlich von Chonqging.
An 75 Stätten in der Region Chongqing wurden geschätzte 50.000 religiöse chinesische Skulpturen in Stein gemeißelt, wobei die ältesten Statuen auf die frühe Tang Dynastie zurückgehen.
Die bekanntesten sind am Nordberg (Bei Shan) und am Schatzkammerberg (Baoding Shan) zu besichtigen.
Im 9. Jahrhundert befand sich am Fuß des Nordbergs ein Militärlager des Königreiches Shu, in das viele Buddhisten während der Verfolgung geflohen waren. Ein General gab den Befehl zum Bau der ersten Skulpturen.
Seit 1999 sind die Stätten Teil der UNESCO Weltkulturerbe Liste.

Hanging Temple in Mount Hengshan
Located in a canyon at the foot of the Mountain Heng in the province of Shanxi, China, the Hanging Temple or Hanging Monastery is a rare piece of architecture. The temple is built into the cliff side about 75 meter above the ground, and stands propped up by hidden rocks corridor and wooden beams inserted into the mountain. Over 40 halls, cabinets and pavilions within an area of 152.5 square meters are connected each other by corridors, bridges and boardwalks. They are evenly distributed and well balanced in height. Inside the temple are more than 80 bronze cast statues, iron cast statues, and clay sculptured statues and stone carvings banded down from different dynasties.
The Hanging Temple is one of the main tourist attractions and historical sites in the Datong area. Built more than 1,500 years ago, this temple is notable not only for its location on a sheer precipice but also because it includes Buddhist, Taoist, and Confucian elements.

Panshan Mountain-Tianjin
Located 120 kilometers away from Tianjin and 90 kilometers away from Beijing, Panshan Scenic Area is in the 12 km northwest of Jixian County, covering 106 km2. Mt. Panshan stands in the east of Beijing, so it is also called the No. 1 Mountain in the Capital's East. It has an area of 20 square kilometers and its highest peak is 858 meters above sea level.
Longhushan Geopark of China
Longhushan (Dragon-Tiger Mountain) Geopark is located in both Yingtan City and Yiyang County of the northeast Jiangxi Province, China.
As a comprehensive geopark, Longhushan Geopark is composed of mainly Danxia landforms, and partially volcanic rock as well as tectonic landscapes. Rock forming Danxia landscapes is red clastic rock formed in the Late Cretaceous Epoch dated back to 65 million years ago. Under long-term fracturing, water current erosion and weathering, among the rocks, the strong turned to be peaks and the weak valleys so that it successively brought about Danxia beautiful sceneries such as mesas, peak clusters and peak forests with flat tops and steep faces, peak clusters and peak forests with round tops, and isolated peaks and remnant hills seen at present in the geopark. It developed a complete series of Danxia landforms including the young, the mature and the aged landscapes, of which especially the mature is the most principal and the late mature is the most typical.

Wutai Mountain or Five Plateau Mountain, has 5 rounded peaks topped with plain terraces. It is home China's most important monasteries and temples, making it an eminent destination year-round for Buddhist pilgrims. Among these magnificent temples in Wutai Shan, you can see a big round white tower located amidst the sea of green trees, stretching well into the clear blue sky. It's called the Great White Pagoda. Wutai is the home of the Bodhisattva of wisdom, Manjusri or Wenshu in Chinese.
