MyInspireProject EP3 – Taiwan, A Home Island to a Wealth of Culture, Sensational Food and Nature

Our new episode is dedicating to our home town, #Taiwan, an island formerly known as Formosa in the 17th century and remains largely undiscovered by Western travelers. But for those who make it here, they are in for a real treat.

Taiwan displays a wealth of culture with an eclectic mix of Chinese, Western, Japanese and indigenous influences. We have invited Taiwanese actor and celebrity TV host, Yi Lee, to explore the #StreetFood Culture with us. And we were also honored to experience the new era of the traditional Puppet Show and Art with Pili International Media and Taiwanese designer Wang Li Ling. The biggest surprise of all, is Taiwan’s nature: from towering mountains, rushing rivers, tropical beaches and sheers cliffs on the coast. With no doubt, Taiwan is one of the most welcoming places on earth, as we encountered numerous acts of generosity and kindness throughout the journey.

Through our story, we would like to share the highlights of the new “#MadeinTaiwan,” and we hope this hidden paradise would attract more adventurous travels from the rest of the world.

This travel video contain not just shots of Cagwait Beach Cove but also Bayabas, Cortes, and Tandag City.This is where it all started for me. I was born and raised in Tandag before we moved to Manila. For my mom and her 12 other siblings, it all started in the small town of Cortes (now known for it’s awesome Laswitan Lagoon) where a young Filipina married a handsome Chinese man. However, they were forced to move when the great storm of 1964 wiped out everything. They eventually moved to the town of Bayabas to reestablish their business. I was born in what is now the capital of Surigao del Sur. This is also where manufactured products come in before they are delivered to surrounding smaller towns. All these places are facing the Pacific Ocean so seafood is everywhere.

Cagwait is known for it’s white sand beach and pristine waters. The waves make swimming way more fun than it already is. There’s also a small spot where the waves are good enough to surf on. A complete day on the beach would consist of beach volleyball, swimming, playing on the sand, and the freshest seafood you can find. Some notable tourist destinations just a few hours away from here are the Enchanted River, Tinuy an Falls, and the Britania group of Islands!

Note: This travel video is not like my previous ones because when I visit my hometown it’s never just to see the beach. It’s also visiting all my wonderful cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and everyone. Thank you all for making this trip really awesome!
