Georgia a tiny beautiful country sprawled between the mountains, is a part of eastern europe. The land is as pretty as any other places in europe most of which are untouched by the mass tourism. I was on a 10 day trip throughout georgia exploring the caucasus mountains, Kakheti region and ofcourse the famous georgian cuisine. My personal favourite was Racha. I highly recommend to hire a car if you are planning a trip to Racha and Lagodekhi National park. Its a place for the mountain lovers, with most of the trails being unexplored. Other places like Kazbegi, Tbilisi have become a tourist trap yet a good place to witness the local culture and cuisine.

Protected Area is the teritory with special status that aims to protect the physical characteristics of the territory, biodiversity and cultural heritage. The protected area includes state reserves, national parks, nature monuments and etc...
Protected areas in Georgia have more than 100 year history. The first protected area – Lagodekhi Strict Nature Reserve was created in 1912.
Over the years, the size and number of Protected Areas increased.
Today, there are 88 Protected Areas and their total area is 596 156 ha, which is 8.57 % of the country’s territory.
„დაცული ტერიტორია“ არის სპეციალური სტატუსის მქონე ტერიტორია, რომლის მიზანია ტერიტორიის ფიზიკური მახასიათებლების, ბიომრავალფეროვნებისა და კულტურული მემკვიდრეობის დაცვა. დაცული ტერიტორია მოიცავს სახელმწიფო ნაკრძალს, ეროვნულ პარკს, ბუნების ძეგლს და ა.შ.
საქართველოში დაცულ ტერიტორიებს 100 წელზე მეტი ხნის ისტორია აქვს. პირველი დაცული ტერიტორია – ლაგოდეხის სახელმწიფო ნაკრძალი შეიქმნა 1912 წელს და ამ დროიდან მოყოლებული, ვაგრძელებთ საქართველოს ბუნების დაცვას.

Lagodekhi National Park - Georgia
Lagodekhi Nature reserve, also called Lagodekhi National Park, is located in the famous district of Kaheti, Georgia (Europe)
This Nature reserve is located on the southern slopes of the Caucasus and bordered with Azerbaijan and Dagestan (Rusia). If you are carrying a cellphone from Azrbaijan, you can even receive signal while you are hiking here.
Lagodekhi Nature reserve was the first nature protected area in Georgia. This occured while Georgia was still under the Russian Empire.
In this Nature Reserve, you can find waterfalls, glacial lakes, and sulphur springs. As well as the best representation of caucaus mountains and green forest Georgia has to offer.

We love overnight trains because they're such an efficient way to travel! We took the overnight first class train from Tbilisi, Georgia to Baku, Azerbaijan (about 12 hours). Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. Kazbegi - The second of my mountain walks in Georgia. I set off on a beautiful blue skies morning to hike from 1700m at the town of Kazbegi up to see the Gergeti glacier at 3200m above sea level and encountered all the types of weather available.
Lucky there was the briefest of gaps in the flowing clouds for me to be able to see the glacier itself but during a hail storm, which was then followed my wind and rain for my walk back down.
Lagodekhi National Park - A easy 4 hour walk up the river from the Lagodekhi town entrance of the Lagodekhi National Park.
Lagodekhi is in the far east of Georgia and is there nearest town (only 4km) to the main board crossing with Azerbaijan. It is also the main town for the Lagodekhi National Park and Nature Reserve nestled at the foot of the Greater Caucasus Mountains.

Tbilisi - It really is quite a city of lights at night time, and not a bad view of the old city during the day time.
The bridge in the film is the Bridge of Peace in Tbilisi. It is quite a interesting work of modern architecture. It spans 150 meters over the river and was commissioned to connect Old Tbilisi with the new district and was officially opened in May 2010.

Kazantip Republic 2014 - This festival was held from the 20th - 30th August in Anaklia, West Georgia.
Here is my recording of our fun that we had there for the closing 4 days of the 10 day event caught on my GoPro Hero 3.

I certainly enjoyed my crazy time there and will be aim to get a pass for next years event by making a Yellow Suitcase. The Suitcase is the national emblem of the Republic and approved suitcases gain you free entry.
The whole event is far from cheap but as you will see a lot of fun can be had there.

Anaklia is a small picturesque resort city with advanced modern infrastructure (highways, shops, pharmacies, bank offices). At the same time, the city preserved the ruins of its Fortress built in 1703 as well as other historical monuments.

Matsimi / Lagodeki / Balakan: Connecting Telavi and Zaqatala. Quiet and easy-going. A beautiful drive once in Azerbaijan towards Baku, but watch out for police if self-driving! There are minibuses from Telavi to Lagodekhi (1,5h), from where you can walk or take a taxi for the remaining 4km. There is also a bus from Telavi to Balaken (7 GEL), just across the border on the Azeri side. The Georgian side is predictably well-equipped with a duty-free shop and money exchange. On the Azeri side there is nothing. Minibuses go between the border and Balakan/Zaqatala,Qax and Ilisu.

Old Tbilisi and Surrounds, Georgia
Old Tbilisi is the historical district of Georgia's capital city that dates back 1500 years. It is full of quaint and beautiful architecture that dates back several centuries.There are many restaurants and souvenir shops around this historical area and you may find many guesthouses and hostels here as well, including Solo-Lucky Hostel, which I had a comfortable stay with a most accommodating host.
This historical part of the city is compact and makes a lovely stroll. Don't forget to catch a bird's-eye view of Tbilisi from Sololaki Hill. The view is gorgeous.
Old Tbilisi is a rich and interesting district not to be missed when you're in Tbilisi.
