Lindi Region is one of Tanzania's 31 administrative regions. The regional capital is the municipality of Lindi. According to the 2012 national census, the region had a population of 864,652, which was lower than the pre-census projection of 960,236. For 2002-2012, the region's 0.9 percent average annual population growth rate was the 29th highest in the country. It was also the least densely populated region with 13 people per square kilometer.The Lindi Region borders on Pwani Region, Morogoro Region, Ruvuma Region, and Mtwara Region. Historically, it was the center of the Kilwa Sultanate, a medieval sultanate whose authority at its height in the 13th-15th centuries CE stretched the entire length of the Swahili Coast. Kilwa Kisiwani has been designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site along with the nearby stonetown Songo Mnara.

Southern comfort: Lindi, Tanzania beach sale along main road

Just 150 meter off the main road is this superb beach property located, hence the ideal location to grab the clients direcly from the road while there are no competitors yet. Build the first hotel in an radious of 30KM before the Liquid Naturual Gas plant will be errected soon!
The video is taken while walking along the border line from the interior along the palms to the wide sandy beach frontage of this 4 acre plot. Keep in mind the tarmac road is only 120 meter in West direction in the hinterland!

How big can volcanic lava flows be? We pull off the road to follow the signs to a natural lava bridge that has been carved out by a fast moving river. This a small part of our road trip across Southern Africa. A trip from Tanzania and the Indian Ocean to the Atlantic off the coast of Namibia.

Kiwira Volcanic Bridge Video Details

We zigzagged our way along a fast moving river until we spotted the lava bridge in the distance. Ben volunteered to cross it to give me perspective. It turned out to be a huge chunk of lava. After a few snaps we headed back to the main road.

Near the boarder we stopped for supplies and then an overland expedition truck pulled up behind us. Groups of strangers spend up to 6-weeks travelling between Nairobi and Cape Town crammed in the back of these trucks. Our Land Cruiser for two seems way more comfortable now.

But before we crossed into Malawi we first needed to perform the ritual money exchange. Let the haggling begin. You never win in these deals. The best you can hope for is to get rid of your money and get the next country’s money without suffering a major loss or rip-off.
