6. Eternal Flame Falls -
This waterfall is in Chestnut Ridge Park in New York. Although Eternal Flame Falls isn’t massive, it has an interesting element, fire. Near the bottom of the waterfall, there is a tiny cavern that natural gas flows out of. When lit, the gas produces a flame that can be seen yearlong. Although, sometimes the fire goes out and has to be ignited again. Eternal Flame Falls wasn’t originally a popular tourist destination, but as it gained more recognition from the media, people started visiting it more often. It has also been studied by several geologists, who discovered that it emits more propane and ethane than other natural gas-secreting places.
5. Zhangye Danxia Landform -
This stunning landscape is found in Linze County, China. These rocks are like Ogres; they have layers. They’re much more stunning than Shrek’s relatives, however. They appear velvety, but form pointed, jagged peaks. The striped, multicolored stone is due to the different types of minerals that were deposited throughout the landform’s sandstone base millions of years ago. The bright hues give Zhangye Danxia Landform the appearance of a rainbow. This whimsical place could be right out of a Dr. Seuss story and has often been named one of China’s most brilliant landforms.
4. Naica Mine -
This world wonder is in Chihuahua, Mexico. It has gained a lot of recognition due to its colossal selenite crystals. In fact, within the mine, there is a cavern called The Cave of Crystals. It is about one thousand feet under the surface and encompasses some of the most substantial crystals ever discovered, the largest of which is nearly forty feet long, thirteen feet across, and weighs over fifty tons. These sparkling cylinders were formed by magma-heated, mineral-rich water that came into contact with chilled water. The cool water oxidized the sulfides, turning them into sulfates. Over the course of about five hundred thousand years, they crystallized, creating the breathtaking formations seen in the cave today.

The Zhangye Danxia landform is also known as the eye candy of Zhangye. Many artists admire this masterpiece as it appears like a perfect painting on canvas. This 400-square-kilometer attraction is located in in Linze and Sunan counties in Gansu Province in central north China.
It is composed of lots of precipitous cliffs, most of which are several hundred meters high. All of these cliffs are smooth and sharp, standing in the plains and riversides, looking grand and magnificent, vigorous and virile. Even the low pinnacles look powerful.
Across the Danxia landform zone, a kaleidoscope of numerous red rocky outcrops resemble weird and wonderful shapes like castles, cones, towers, as well as humans, creatures, birds and beasts. They are as vivid and organized as the Millennium Castle and, especially with their peaks peeping through the mist and clouds, produce mirage-like scenery of fantastic mountains and pavilions.
The formation of Zhangye Danxai Landform dates back to 6 million years ago. The Danxia geological structure was formed by the erosion of red sandstone, forming the isolated peaks and steep outcrops. Its special geological structure, combined with long-term weathering, freeze-thaw peeling, and wind and water erosion gave rise to its present appearance.
Geologists believe that Danxia topography is formed as a result of movement in the earth’s crust. This makes rock layers appear in different colors, textures, shapes, sizes, and patterns. The combination of differences in density and erosion creates towering peaks, cave holes and stone halls.
Danxia formations are green, yellow, blue and many other colors, though their appellation comes from the red rocks of Mount Danxia in Guangdong. Experts say that they are the result of red sandstone and other rocks undergoing metamorphic processes for millions of years.

The Zhangye National Geopark is located in Sunan and Linze counties within the prefecture-level city of Zhangye, in Gansu, China. It covers an area of 322 square kilometres. The site became a quasi-national geopark on It was formally designated as Zhangye National Geopark by the Ministry of Land and Resources on June 16, 2016 after it has passed the on-site acceptance test. Known for its colorful rock formations, it has been voted by Chinese media outlets as one of the most beautiful landforms in China.
The core area of the park, Linze Danxia Scenic Area, is located 30 kilometres, west of downtown Zhangye and 20 kilometres south of the seat of Linze County. It is the most visited part of the park. A second scenic area, Binggou located on the north bank of Liyuan River. Binggou covers an area of 300 square kilometres.
Zhangye Danxia is known for the unusual colours of the rocks, which are smooth, sharp and several hundred meters tall. They are the result of deposits of sandstone and other minerals that occurred over 24 million years. The result, similar to a layer cake, is connected to the action of the same tectonic plates responsible for creating parts of the Himalayan mountains. Wind, rain, and time then sculpted extraordinary shapes, including towers, pillars, and ravines, with varying colours, patterns, and sizes.

The Zhangye Danxia landform is also known as the eye candy of Zhangye. Many artists admire this masterpiece as it appears like a perfect painting on canvas. This 400-square-kilometer attraction is located in in Linze and Sunan counties in Gansu Province in central north China.
Research shows that about 100 million years ago there was a huge outdoor pool. Water carrying silt here from others. As a result of global high temperatures, the pool is dry and arid conditions in these sediment oxidized and took the color of rust. About 70 million years ago, the red layer 3,700 meters thick formed in the basin, known as the chalk bed. At the top was a solid layer of 1,300 meters thick layer of the Cretaceous period, which gradually formed from the mountain peaks dunks.
Since then, 30 million years ago, orogenic movement has changed the landscape of the pool a few times. Water flowing down through the cracks cut through and destroyed sedimentary rock carved slope, leaving behind red fragmental rocks. Now we see nothing but how landforms Danxia. According to experts, the formation of the mountain is still going on in the area, with an average increase of 0.87 meters every 10,000 years in the past 500,000 years.
Zhangye Danxia Landform is surrounded by colorful hills, which seem to rise and fall like waves: with rock strata of different colors mixed in graceful disarray, it is an imposing and magnificent sight.
The region is fast becoming a popular tourist attraction for the sleepy town of Zhangye. Set of boardwalks and roads were built to encourage visitors to explore the amazing rock formations and colored rocks. World Heritage Committee decided to include colored rocks Zhangye in UNESCO World Heritage List at its 34th meeting held in Brasilia, capital of Brazil, August 1, 2010.

PERG IM MÜHLVIERTEL, UPPER AUSTRIA - TRAVEL
Perg is a town in the Mühlviertel area north of Linz, the capital of Upper Austria. Perg is a county town, which means that it plays a role as administrative, educational and economic centre for a region. Perg has approximately 7,500 residents and locally known for its fairs and festivities - most importantly the Vinium, a wine fest that attracts more than 100 farmers and companies from all of Austria. Beyond that, Perg is a neat market town with a historic city centre and well worth a stop if you happen to tour the Mühlviertel. A few words on the attractions of the town.
Note the Erdstall, a network of underground caves, tunnels and catacombs - they were built around 1000 AD as a hide and shelter for situations of danger. In 1881, the Erdstall was incorporated into a park, named after the wife of Crown Prince Rudolf - Stephaniehain.

There are several churches in Perg that are worth seeing. Start with the Stadtpfarrkirche, Perg′s parish church. Originally a Romanesque church, later extensions incorporated the old core; you can still estimate the Romanesque elements today. In the late 15th century, the church gained its current Gothic outlay with three naves. The tower was completed by 1480, but extended in 1528 - in 1542, Perg became a parish. Note the Gothic interiors; the organ was played by Anton Bruckner in 1863.
Another significant church of Perg is the Pfarrkirche Pergkirchen, which was first mentioned in 1088. It is dedicated to St. Martin and became a parish church in 1142. Its main altar is Baroque and dates back to the mid-17th century; the rest of the interiors is 19th century Historicist rubbish.
The Kalvarienbergkirche is yet another church and one of the best-known attractions of Perg. The prosperity of Perg during the Baroque age allowed the town to construct a Calvary mount and a church - which was accomplished by 1754. The Kalvarienbergkirche is a late-Baroque, round building and Rococo interiors. You find the church only a few hundred metres away from the town square (Hauptplatz).

Schloss Auhof is a local palace; first mentioned as home to the local noblemen Dietrich and Dietmar von Au in 1294, it changed owners several times. Later is became also known as Bernardishof. It is still a private property and not open to the general public. For a more accessible castle, note Burgruine Mitterberg. It can be found some 3 kilometres east of Perg on a rocky hill.
Today, the castle is only ruins - but it was once the biggest castle of the entire Mühlviertel (this doesn′t necessarily ring a bell, but means quite something - the Mühlviertel was a rather prosperous place in Medieval times and constantly haunted by all sorts of invasions). The walls were demolished in the 17th century, when stone was needed for building a palace in nearby Windhaag.
The Rathaus or city hall of Perg was built in 1736 at a prominent location on the market square. Sadly, it burnt down and was rebuilt in neo-Classicist style in 1876. Speaking of the market square: Here and around this area you will find several noteworthy burgher houses. For example the Seifensiederhaus, built around 1563, later equipped with a Baroque faηade in 1720.
