Every 4th of July, there’s an Arts & Music Festival that’s almost evenly electrifying, as the latter evening fireworks. We have 64 Parishes, and this festival is held in Avoyelles Parish, inside the city of Marksville, Louisiana...where Chamber of Commerce puts together what is called the Avoyelles Arts & Music Festival. There are lots of contests~for any & everyone to enjoy. This historical city, referred to in Hollywood Box Office film “12 years of Slave”, holds this Festival in CenLa, to commemorate Independence Day. This Avoyelles native, after graduating at age 17, had long before decided to join the military, departing all familiarity, to make, or find his way. His cultural diversity comes from many western pacific port, while aboard a USS Naval Vessel. Honorably Discharged, Gulf-War Veteran, Post-911 Security Force at NSA (NOLA), Religious Programs Specialist, and now helper of ways to effectively share his new found love for Louisiana’s Festivals. Samuel has discovered that you won’t miss something the most, until it’s gone. Everything Samuel learns, discovers, & understands along way, helps him have more language to translate from one generation to a next, helping them dig deep, holding huge hopes that they might truly value this treasure we call Festivals. 2nd Samuel then commenced to writing this song, “Welcome To Louisiana”, commemorating our love for festivals, giving tourists promotional pieces of these festival experiences, from his eye-view. His military buddies have reasons to come visit Louisiana. Major News coverage from television stations such as, KATC tv3, KALB tv 5, and other media outlets heard the song, then reached out to Samuel to cover a story on the song. This song has been sparking new interests in tourism, and is making waves across the state of Louisiana. We celebrate 300+ festivals down here in Louisiana, January-December, winter is when Natchitoches Festivals of Lights closes out the year, and sometimes bring in the year with the Lights.
