The sea stacks that define Torre Sant’Andrea are created by the erosive power of wind and waves beating against malleable coastal cliffs. Fissures are expanded, tunnels are formed, and tenuous natural bridges collapse to leave lonely sentinels rising above the pounding surf below.
Located on the “heel” of Italy’s “boot,” Torre Sant’Andrea takes its name not from these natural towers, but from one constructed by humans in the 16th century as a watch towers, the ruins of which can still be seen. Visitors can lounge on the beach, swim through weathered arches, and even cliff dive (if they know what they’re doing). The local nightlife also apparently features a fairly active reggae scene.

The Bauxite quarry of Otranto is one of the things to do during the holidays in Salento . It is near the Punta Palascia lighthouse and Monte Sant'Angelo. In this decommissioned mining field, an emerald-green lake has formed, which makes the panorama nothing short of extraordinary.
The bauxite quarry is a very attractive destination for tourists and visitors. It would be one of the most photographed places in Salento . Since it is a disused area, it is good to approach with the utmost care. However, at the quarry you can easily access, without any restrictions, perhaps waiting for the local authorities to intervene to put it in safety and to enhance it as a site of regional importance.
The extraction of bauxite in the Otranto quarry began in 1940 and ended in 1976. Bauxite is a mineral used for the production of aluminum . The formation of the emerald green lake was most likely due to the infiltration of water from the strata in the area.
The color of the water creates a very fascinating contrast with the surrounding rocky walls , which shine with a beautiful deep red . The landscape is surrounded by vegetation that with its own green-green creates a wonderful place to visit at least once in life.

Questa bellissimo immobile è stato restaurato di recente da due architetti che lo hanno trasformato in un ambiente pieno di charme dove elementi moderni si fondono perfettamente con il sapore delle antiche strutture. L'ingresso a piano terra si apre su uno spazioso salotto con camino, diviso con un arco dall'originale e ampia cucina con il soffitto a volta di mattoni. Sempre un arco invita in un corridoio con volte di mattoni che conduce alle antiche cantine dove sono state conservate, restaurandole, le orinali volte in tufo e dove luci discrete creano una suggestiva atmosfera. Nel sottoscala è stato ricavato un grazioso bagno ospiti. Una scala moderna in legno e acciaio porta al piano superiore dove troviamo due camere dove, su una delle pareti sono stati lasciati dei testimoni in pietra del muro originale. Dalle finestre di entrambe le camere si gode una gradevole vista degli antichi tetti del paese e della Rocca medievale. Un altro ambiente di notevole rilievo è il bagno dove la vasca è abbracciata da un muro di pietra che prosegue anche nella parete posteriore. Le rifiniture in tutta la casa sono di altissimo livello e ogni particolare è curato nei minimi dettagli così come tutti gli impianti sono di elevatisimo standard. Torre Sant'Andrea è una località balneare del Salento, frazione e marina del territorio comunale di Melendugno, in provincia di Lecce. Sant'Andrea è sovrastato da una grande e fresca pineta che arriva fino ai Laghi Alimini.
Approdo di pescatori situato sul Mare Adriatico, a 2 km dalla più nota località balneare di Torre dell'Orso, dista 15 km in direzione nord da Otranto e 20 km da Lecce. Molto noti sono i suoi faraglioni che attraggono grandi quantità di turisti e amanti dei paesaggi incontaminati.
È stata premiata più volte con la Bandiera Blu d'Europa per la limpidezza delle acque.
Nel 2000 fu scelta come location per uno spot televisivo della compagnia telefonica Wind.
A Torre Sant'Andrea sorge il rudere della torre cinquecentesca omonima.
