To provide background and a preview of the 26 top samba schools performing in the upcoming Rio Carnival 2016 Samba School Parade Championship Competitions, this HD video showcases the 2014 Rio Carnival Samba School Parade Championship Competitions performance of “PARAISO DO TUIUTI” Samba School. For the school’s Rio Carnival 2015 performance, check out:
“PARAISO DO TUIUTI” is a samba school in Rio de Janeiro and is located in the neighborhood of São Cristóvão which is in Rio’s North Zone. The school was founded in 1954, and its colors are blue and yellow. Its Drummers’ Queen is Pamela Santos, the President is Jorge Honorato and its Carnavalesco is Jack Vasconcelos.
For the 2016 Rio Carnival Samba School Parade Série A Group competitions, the school is scheduled to be the second school to perform on the Série A Group's second day at 9:45 pm in the evening of Saturday, February 6, 2016.
The school's 2016 performance theme, “enredo”, is entitled “A Farra do Boi”.

Broadcast throughout the world, Rio’s magnificent Rio Carnival Samba School Parade Championship Competitions of Rio's top twenty-seven (27) samba schools will be the showcase events of the Rio Carnival 2016 celebrations. Over four nights from Friday, February 5 through Monday, February 8, 2016, the Rio’s top samba schools will perform all night into the early morning hours of the following day. What at first glance might just appear to be colorful, music-filled parades, are in actuality ferociously serious competitions involving the best Samba schools in Rio and Brazil, thousands of dancers, singers, musicians, floats and budgets, prize money and endorsements totaling millions of dollars.
For the first two nights (Friday, February 5, 2016 and Saturday, February 6, 2016) of the Rio Carnival Samba School Parade Championship Competitions, fourteen samba schools (7 each night) in the Série A Group (formally “Access Group”, “Group A) will compete in the Rio Carnival 2016 Série A Group Samba School Parade Competitions. The winner of this 2016 competition will be promoted to the Special Group and will participate in the 2017 Special Group Competitions for the Rio Carnival 2017 Samba School Parade Championship.
To warm you up for the Rio Carnival 2016 Competitions and to provide you with background about the upcoming 2016 performances of each of the 14 Série A Group Samba Schools which will be competing for the 2016 Rio Carnival Competitions, Paul Hodge has provided high definition videos of the 2014 & 2015 performances of all 14 Série A Group Samba Schools performing in the 2016 competitions. Filmagem realizada em 21.01.14 no lado sul do Grand Canyon, no Estado do Arizona, sendo que mesmo que tivesse a melhor câmara e filmadora do mundo, jamais conseguiria captar a verdadeira e impressionante beleza plástica destas obras de arte feitas pela natureza que o transformou num lugar diferente e único em toda a Terra. É de tirar o fôlego o visual em dia de sol e não nos cansamos de admirar cada ponto no horizonte. Eu imaginava que era um lugar bonito, mas foi muito além de minhas expectativas, bem como para a minha família que amou tal passeio maravilhoso e indescritível. Somente vendo pessoalmente é que se terá a exata dimensão deste lindo local esculpido por séculos na rocha. Nossa verdadeira vontade era de sentar e ficar o dia todo olhando e dando asas a imaginação nesta imensa vastidão de montanhas espetaculares. O silêncio era impressionante, somente se ouvido o vento e os pássaros, e confesso que passeio o tempo todo agradecendo a Deus por tal privilégio. Obrigado Senhor...

Footage taken at 01/21/14 on the south side of the Grand Canyon , in Arizona , and even if it had the best camera and camcorder in the world , could never capture the true beauty of these plastic and impressive works of art made by nature that transformed a different and unique place in all the earth . It is breathtaking to look at the sunny day and not get tired of us admire each point on the horizon . I thought it was a beautiful place , but it was far beyond my expectations , and for my family who loved this wonderful and indescribable ride. Only by seeing it personally that have the exact dimension of this beautiful location carved into the rock for centuries . Our true desire was to sit around all day watching and giving wings to imagination in this vast expanse of spectacular mountains . The silence was stunning , if only hearing the wind and the birds , and I confess that walking all the time thanking God for the privilege . Thank you Lord ...

The Santa Teresa block party attracted 7,000+ celebrants and was entitled Céu na Terra, “Heaven on Earth”. In addition to the standard sound truck playing songs by famous Brazilian composers such as Capiba, Braguinha and Noel Rosa, the parade included lively percussion, drum and seven string guitar/cavaquinho music. In addition to making music, cheering revelers paraded and danced. The Santa Teresa “Heaven on Earth” Bloco is always presented in the early morning, which gives it a different audience from Rio’s other blocos.
Santa Teresa is a beautiful neighborhood in Rio. It is located on top of the Santa Teresa hill near Rio’s center, and is famous for its winding, narrow streets which are a favorite spot for artists and tourists.
To provide you with the best coverage on YouTube of Rio Carnival 2015, Paul Hodge arrived in Rio on February 5, 2015 so he could cover the seldom seen events leading up to the official Rio Carnival Celebration. By tradition, on the weekend before Rio Carnival, many Rio neighborhoods hosted Bloco (block) parties/parades to celebrate the coming of Rio Carnival. During Carnival 2015, there were over 450+ official Bloco parties with 600+ parades. On Saturday & Sunday, February 7 & 8, 2015, Paul covered four pre-Carnival Bloco parties in the diverse Rio neighborhoods of Santa Teresa, Leblon, Ipanema and Rio’s Centro District.
Of the 456 official licensed bloco parties in Rio, 111 took place before the official Rio Carnival 2015 on the weekend of February 7 & 8, 2015. These parties drew 800,000+ celebrants into the revelry. Most of the authorized blocos on this weekend were concentrated in the Zona Sul (South Zone) and Zona Norte (North Zone), where about thirty were held in each. Since 2012 the city has made an effort to distribute the blocos more evenly around the city, slowly moving more from Zona Sul to other areas.
