Sala Consilina to Eboli : Sicily to Ukraine by camper van part 20
SEE MY MOTORHOME PAGE ON FACEBOOK :
I drive my vehicle through the Italian province Campania, north using the A3 motorway, between the towns of Sala Consilinia and Eboli which are both in the district of Salerno. The motorway more or less follows the path of the River Tanagro which rises in the Diano Valley and is a tributary of the Sele River.
I start off by leaving the motorway facilities at Sala Consilina and describe the facilities there for dumping the waste tank which were a little primative but far better than nothing - and we need to be grateful for that.
I also had an outstanding breakfast which I describe thanks to wonderful coffee from my friend Raffaelo in Augusta, milk products from Castrovillari with olives and bread from the hypermarket in Lauria. There would have been other things as well but I did not describe them.
You can hear the Tomtom satellite navigation device in the camper version which is extremely good in my opinion.
The A3 motorway has sometimes been called the shame of Italy because of the time it has taken to complete it but it is an engineering marvel as can be seen.
On my drive south in December 2012 I was not very impressed but the weather was bad. In much nicer driving weather I find the going much more pleasant.
As well as the scenery, there is my comments on using a camper van in Italy and some of the places you can visit.
This is part of a very long journey in May and June 2013 from Brucoli in Sicily to Bełżec on the Polish - Ukrainian border. From there I travelled to the UK - so the journey was much longer but I did not film the part from eastern Poland to Norwich (UK).
Around Salerno and Naples : Sicily to Ukraine by camper van part 21
SEE MY MOTORHOME PAGE ON FACEBOOK :
I drive my vehicle past the towns of Battipaglia, Salerno and Naples but without actually visiting them. I complete my journey along the A3 motorway which starts, or ends, at Salerno and take the European road E841 - Italian motorway A30. From here I will take the smaller roads which will give me the chance to see something of the countryside as well as avoiding the toll charges. I travelled south in November 2012 using the toll roads and to be quite honest I did not see a great deal.
You can hear the Tomtom satellite navigation device in the camper version which is extremely good in my opinion. On the motorway it is not particularly useful but when you come off and try to take the smaller roads it is absolutely essential. It is a wonderful tool in my opinion.

Around Rome : Sicily to Ukraine by camper van part 28
SEE MY MOTORHOME GROUP ON FACEBOOK :
This film shows part of the ring road around Rome as I travel from the south heading towards the general direction of Perugia. As can be seen, the road quality is much better than it is around many other cities in Italy! Whilst driving I mention a brief history of motorway networks as well as my fuel consumption.
My channel on you tube : is very prolific. I have produced over 2,500 original films.
My big interest in life is travel and history but I have also placed films on other subjects.

I am very fortunate that I can spend a large part of my life travelling, thanks to the business I chose to run which allows me to do this. There are a number of films here on the packaging industry. This is because I am the publisher of Central and Eastern European Packaging -- - the international platform for the packaging industry in this region focusing on the latest innovations, trends, design, branding, legislation and environmental issues with in-depth profiles of major industry achievers.
Most people may think packaging pretty boring but it possibly effects your life more than you really imagine!
Central and Eastern European Packaging examines the packaging industry throughout this region, but in particular in the largest regional economies which are Russia, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine and Austria. That is not to say that the other countries are forgotten, they are not, but obviously there is less going on. However the fact that there are so many travel related films here is not from holidays but from business trips attending trade fairs around the region. Every packaging trade fair is a new excuse to make another film!
Welcome To POLLA ♥ Benvenuti a POLLA nel VALLO DI DIANO ♥
Polla nasce come piccolo villaggio forense sorta in epoca romana.
Motorway to Messina - Sicily to Ukraine part six
FOLLOW MY JOURNEY ON FACEBOOK :
Owing to the impossibility of getting my camper van under a low and narrow bridge at San Alessio Siculo, I am forced to take the motorway. Nonetheless there cannot be many motorways that offer such wonderful views of the Straights of Messina and Calabria, as well as of the wonderful Sicilian countryside.
This is my longest camper van journey to date - from Catania in Sicily to Tomaszów Lubelski in eastern Poland! In fact the journey is even longer but parts of it are not included. The journey started in Brucoli, Sicily and will finish in Ternopil, Ukraine - and then I will return to Poland and possibly go to the UK.
I will be stopping at various places en route to see what is interesting there as well as to visit friends. I think this could be even longer than the series I did six years ago called Europe 2007. Europe 2013 could end up being 6,000km - and it is far more exciting by being in my camper van!

North of Naples to Mondragone : Sicily to Ukraine by camper van part 22
SEE MY MOTORHOME PAGE ON FACEBOOK :
This is the road around Naples - to the north of the city. Some travellers take the coastal route through the centre of the city but I took the one my Tomtom suggested. Gone are the mountains which had accompanied me from when I left Scily, around here it is flat. The roads are also rather bad quality. However I get to the sea and am able to follow it north.
You can hear the Tomtom satellite navigation device in the camper version which is extremely good in my opinion. On the motorway it is not particularly useful but when you come off and try to take the smaller roads it is absolutely essential. It is a wonderful tool in my opinion.
