VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:
Welcome to Greenland.
We're here on the Greenland Explorer withQuark Expeditions and we're joined by the Expedition Leader, Alex McNeil.
Can you just run us through what maybe 24
hours might be like on the ship here?
An average day for me would probably be waking
up around 5 O'clock, and heading to the bridge
looking at local conditions, ice weather,
current, assessing our progress, towards our
proposed destination and looking for any opportunities
along the way.
And the essentially we have a time where we
plan to wake the passengers up.
Usually anywhere from 5:30 to 7:30 at the
latest, sometimes we give people a little
bit of a sleep in.
Then we go out on a morning excursion for
sure, for example, this morning we had a zodiac
cruise and a landing, the tide just got out,
we had a really good extended hike, and we're
going to assess opportunities.
Ready for a great day on the water!
Ship cruise the entirety of the Fjord, it's
about 60 miles
Picturesque jagged peaks, glaciers, that will
be great regardless, and who knows what opportunities
will present for zodiac cruises and other
adventures.
I forgot one thing, we're gonna get you to
jump in the water at some point too.
Oh,
Because we're back in the ice, and we've got
a little bit colder water, so it's time for
a polar plunge.
I like that, it's a little bit colder water.
We want it to be as cold as possible so people
can get the true feeling of the Polar Plunge.
If you go on a Quark Expedition Ship, make
sure to do the polar plunge, whether it's
in the Antarctic or it's up here in Greenland,
do it!
And Vodka is your reward, mine's empty.
Another fantastic day here in Greenland, as
you can see, the landscape never stops changing.
See ya!
Another UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Wow, behind me is Jacobs Harbour, and this
is a harbour filled with ice bergs that come
from Jacobs Glacier.
And as we were told, all of these ice bergs,
eventually make it out of here and travel
all the way to Canada.
Walking in the Tundra in the Arctic.
It's the spirit of adventure,
You never know what's going to happen and
that's what great about the Arctic.
It's just adventure around every corner.
Cheers from Greenland.
So you know if you need any motivation to
go to the Arctic, well you got it now.
Come to Greenland, we'll see you there.

02. Machu Picchu, Peru
The Lost City of the Incas is perched on the edge of a mountain high in the Andes, a location so remote that it remained hidden from ravaging conquistadors and untouched by the 20th century until it was “discovered” in 1911.
03. Galápagos Islands, Ecuador
The area’s raw beauty and abundance of unique species, like the giant tortoise, make it a nature lover’s dream. Charles Darwin conducted research here in the early 1830s that contributed to his theory of evolution.
04. Torres del Paine National Park, Chile
The granite spires of the Paine massif tower over emerald green valleys, churning rivers, glassy blue lakes, glaciers, and icebergs.
05. Paris, France
The Eiffel Tower, Cathedral of Notre Dame, Louvre, Champs-Elysees, and Arc de Triomphe—Paris is like a living museum of architecture and history.
06. Rome, Italy

Beautiful Places That Look More Magical Covered in Snow
Chicago, Illinois.
The Windy City is no stranger to snow, and a frosty coat of ice and snow makes Millennium Park (known for its modern art installations) seem completely unreal.
Neushwanstein, Germany.
King Ludwig’s Castle may be a nineteenth century architectural marvel, but in the wintertime it could just as easily pass as Elsa’s ice castle from Frozen.
Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Wake Forest University makes for the perfect winter postcard with white trees framing its iconic chapel.
Flakstad, Norway.
A white coat of snow on the ground is the perfect canvas from which to admire the dazzling Northern Lights in this Norwegian town.
Prague, Czech Republic.
This European capital may be known for its assortment of eye-catching architecture (from Gothic churches to its old town square) but every building looks even more quaint surrounded by flurries.
Vineyards In Spitz, Austria
Situated along the Danube River, this town in the Austrian wine country is a charming market village that looks like something out of a picture book.
Tromso, Norway.
Known as the capital of the Arctic, this lively city is filled with vivid wooden houses that are hundreds of years old. At night, the Aurora Borealis adds even more color to this snowy locale.
Grand Canyon, Arizona.
Yep, even this southwest natural wonder gets blanketed in white — and visitors can experience the striking scenes with far fewer crowds than in the warmer months.
Godafoss, Iceland
Iceland’s incredible waterfall isn’t surrounded by snow year-round, but winter snow drifts make its blue waters look otherworldly.
Areches-Beaufort, France.
This French mountain village resort is the perfect place for skiing, eating fancy French cheeses, and cuddling in a cottage during the wintertime.
Swedish Coast.
Along the Baltic Sea, the Swedish coast gives off a rustic charm that seems even more idyllic with a fresh sprinkling of snow.
Shirakawa-Go, Japan.
Nestled in the Shogawa River Valley, this remote Japanese village was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its gassho-zukuri farmhouses, which are over 250 years old. Bonus: You can even stay in one overnight — just make sure to book early.
Ingleborough, United Kingdom.
This English mountain seems like something out of a science fiction film when its rocky exterior is covered with pure white snow.
Park City, Utah.
Park City’s Old Town offers plenty of shopping, eating, and art galleries for visitors, and its picturesque multicolored buildings offer a nostalgi vibe.
Paris, France.
The city of love and romance seems even more seductive with a dusting of snow. Cold weather is better for snuggling, anyway.
Kakslauttanen, Finland.
Ever dream of staying in an igloo? At this Finnish resort, glass igloos make it possible to stay cozy while also marveling at the breathtaking natural surroundings.
Yosemite, California.
This national park may be a wonder in any season, but its majestic wilderness looks even more breathtaking after a snowfall.
Toronto, Canada.
The capital of Ontario has its fair share of breathtaking parks that become magically white landscapes after a blizzard.
Cape Elizabeth, Maine.
Portland’s Head Light stands at the entry to Portland Harbor, making it a landmark in any season. This is one very historic lighthouse — construction began in 1787 at the directive of George Washington.
Kyoto, Japan.
Home to plenty of Shinto shrines, over 1,000 Buddhist temples, and iconic wooden buildings, this quiet Japanese city seems to settle into a calming slumber under a sheet of snow.
Jämtland, Sweden.
This historic province along the border between Sweden and Norway is filled with spruce forests that are home to plenty of wildlife, including brown bears, wolves, and foxes.
Prince Edward Island, Canada.
This Canadian province may be beloved for its beaches in the summertime, but once winter hits, its colorful fishing towns settle down for a calm winter season.
Central Park, New York
Away from the hustle and bustle of the Macy’s holiday windows, Manhattan’s famed Central Park becomes a winter wonderland under a thick coat of powdery snow.
Les Trois-Moutiers, France
Particularly, the castle Château de la Mothe-Chandeniers (we spotted it on Instagram!), which was abandoned in 1932 after a fire. Today, it looks like a chateau fit for an ice princess during the dead of winter.
Arctic Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Arctic.
The Arctic is an icy world surrounding the North Pole and a strange and wonderful world of ice, snow, land and water. To experience this region we travel by ship. Soon everyone is on board and our adventure can begin. The route leads north along the coast which is separated by deep fjords. We arrive at Kongsfjorden, our first Spitsbergen destination with the 14th July Glacier cloaked in fog. To the rear, steep scree slopes and sheer rock walls and, in front, a glacier breaks off into the Arctic Ocean. At Ny Ålesund we reach the northernmost permanent settlement in the world. Coal mining was the basis of the settlement and many people came to this desolate place. Later, the extraction of coal became unprofitable and it was virtually abandoned. A harp seal flees from its ice floe in the Arctic Sea and soon a group of hungry polar bears hunt it down. Polar bears have sensitive hearing and an excellent sense of smell and are able to scent seals up to a kilometre away. They can also track prey beneath a one metre thick sheet of snow and ice. One glacial valley after another opens up into the passage between Spitsbergen and Edgeøya. The captain navigates the ship between large ice floes that gradually become icebergs. The icy world of the Arctic is a habitat for rare wildlife, bizarre landscapes and great explorers. A realm of freezing cold, the largest wilderness on Earth, and one of its last natural paradises!

Toronto MUSIC GARDEN is One of the City's Cost Enchanted Locations on Waterfront
Visit our Store:
Toronto MUSIC GARDEN in Toronto Downtown
Fronting on Toronto's inner harbour, the Toronto Music Garden is one of the city's most enchanted locations. The park design is inspired by Bach's First Suite for Unaccompanied Cello, with each dance movement within the suite corresponding to a different section of the garden. During the summer, enjoy free, outstanding classical performances from around the world.
Inspired by Bach - Inspired by the pictorial element in Johann Sebastian Bach’s Suites for Unaccompanied Cello, internationally renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma collaborated with a number of artists to produce Inspired by Bach – a six part film series. The series was produced by Rhombus Media Incorporated and broadcasted in 1997 and 1998.
For the first film in the series, The Music Garden, Mr. Ma worked with landscape designer Julie Moir Messervy to interpret in nature the music of Bach’s first suite. As a result of the film project, Yo-Yo Ma, Julie Messervy and Rhombus Media Incorporated approached the city of Boston, Massachusetts to create an actual garden based on The Music Garden. When the Boston site fell through, Toronto enthusiastically embraced the project.
The Design - Julie Messervy designed the waterfront Music Garden in collaboration with landscape architects from the city’s Parks, Forestry and Recreation Department. The garden design interprets in nature Bach’s First Suite for Unaccompanied Cello, with each dance movement within the suite corresponding to a different section in the garden. Two Canadian artists created special features for the Music Garden. Tom Tollefson, architectural blacksmith, fabricated the Music Pavilion, and the late Anne Roberts of Feir Mill Desing Inc., designed the Maypole.
