Welcome to the Yukon!
Known for its dramatic landscapes, vast wilderness, and the famous Klondike Gold Rush, the Yukon has been capturing people's imaginations for years. With four-legged creatures far outnumbering humans, Canada's tallest mountain peaks, and the world's largest non-polar glacier, the Yukon is a true paradise for adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts.
We started our journey in Whitehorse, the Yukon's capital city. From here, we toured the SS Klondike, ate some delicious food in Whitehorse's oldest buildings, saw heaps of wildlife, and caught a glimpse of the Northern Lights. We then went to Dawson, the worlds most famous gold rush town. While walking around the old boardwalk streets was incredible enough, we also went gold panning, toured the massive dredge #4, watched a Cancan show at the oldest casino in the country, and took a river cruise on a paddle-wheeler. We then drove up the infamous Dempster Highway all the way to Eagle Plains, past the Arctic Circle and into the Northwest Territories. After coming back and spending another night in Dawson, we drove to Kluane National Park for one of the most epic flightseeing tours we've ever experienced.
We explored the Yukon from August 16 - September 6th, 2017!
Canada's Road to 150 is a 150-day Canada-wide multi-media road trip celebrating Canada's 150th birthday by exploring the uniqueness of this country provincially and collectively while answering the question; What makes Canada special?
We will drive to and through every driveable province and territory, showcasing Canada's natural beauty and regional attractions while interviewing Canadians of all cultures and backgrounds, including local celebrities, immigrants, refugees, and everyday rural and urban Canadians. Our aim is to dig deep into what makes Canada such an incredibly inspiring country while showing off the best of Canada's tourism to Canadians and to the world.

Seals, sand & sunsets. What more do you need to make a great evening on the beach?
No hiking video this week as I had to work on Saturday. On Sunday we went down the Nine Mile River from Renfrew to Hwy 14 on the kayaks instead of hiking. It was a beautiful day on the water but I did not get any decent video so you will have to take my word for it.

Want To Visit Alaska & Canada With Me?
Here are all the details about a group cruise and land tour that we've got planned for July of 2020. We'll be visiting Alaska and Canada, by rail, cruise ship, bus, and gondola!
The trip starts with a flight to Anchorage and an overnight stay there. The next morning, we'll be off to explore the interior of Alaska. Our first stop: the Princess Wilderness Lodge in Talkeetna, with a beautiful view of Denali.
Next, we'll head to Denali National Park for a two-night stay in the Princess Wilderness Lodge there and plenty of opportunities to explore the park.
After that, we'll have an amazing day on the Alaska Railroad as we take a nine hour train ride to meet up with a cruise ship at the coast.
The cruise will be a 7-day southbound cruise on Royal Princess, featuring their new medallion technology which provides several benefits, including the fastest Internet service at sea.
We'll visit Hubbard Glacier, Glacier Bay, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, and the cruise will end in Vancouver. However, that won't be the end of the adventure... because we'll be doing a five-day tour of Canada after that!
We'll tour the Vancouver and Victoria areas for two days, and then get on the Rocky Mountaineer for an amazing train adventure to Banff. After our Rocky Mountaineer trip, we'll fly home from the Calgary airport.
Contact my travel agent, Caitlin Gallagher, if you're interested in coming along with us for any or all of the three legs of this trip, or visit my web site at JimZim.net and check the Upcoming Cruises section for more details about our plans.
