Latvian ghost town - SKRUNDA- 1
Build by Soviet Union in 1963 also known as ghost town and former Soviet radar station. Located 5 km to the north of Skrunda city in Latvia. The Soviet Union, during the time of the Cold War, created more than 40 secret towns which provided the technical foundations of the Soviet military and this is one of THEM !

Skrunda was once a thriving military, scientific and civilian community, which held a high esteem inside the iron curtain. In its heyday, when it was home for more than 5,000 people, Skrunda-1 played a crucial part in the Soviet Union’s defence strategy. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, and the subsequent splintering of the republics, the disintegration of Skrunda-1 was an obvious step.
