You won't believe it, until you see it: Pedvale park
PEDVALE PARK OF MODERN ARTS
Imagine you're walking in a park and suddenly you are struck by the feeling that something is slightly wrong. Stones are growing on the tops of wooden poles. Some huge rock has just fallen down in a green field causing those circular waves you see when you throw a small stone in a puddle. You look to the left and there's a weird wooden sculpture spewing real flames and the heat from the flames makes a bunch of other, even weirder mechanisms rotate. Suddenly out of nowhere a long column of naked joggers appears and passes right by you. You could reach out and touch them. Well, maybe you don't want to touch them. You look to the right and there's the forest, only the trees are growing upside-down with their branches sticking into the ground. Then you cross this little river and find a huge piece of ice (it's mid July and +30 in the shade) hanging on a rope and there's a fire burning underneath it. And, of course, your eyes can't ignore a huge, 20 feet diameter blazing wooden ball that's rolling down the hill and disappearing into the river. And (as if that's not enough) there's this crash-landed Ikarus cussing and trying to fix his badly broken wooden wing. He's naked, confused and a bit dusty because of the impact against Mother Earth. You wish David Lynch was by your side so he could explain what's going on. Chances are he isn't so you'll just have to ask yourself: „For God's sake WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN? It means you're in Latvia, man! It means you're in the only open-air modern art park in the world set up by artist Ojars Feldbergs and called Pedvale. And most likely you are like „Holy ****!!!!. And most likely it means that our slogan Latvia. You won't believe it until you see it. is right on.
