In the absence of context, it’s hard to imagine what Georgia’s like. On the edge of the Caucasus Mountains, the country is neighboured by cultures as varied as its topography. Once a stop on the Silk Road, the city became a confluence of the civilizations over the millennia. This peculiar positioning means many consider Georgia a part of Europe or Asia, depending on who you ask. And you would be forgiven for wondering if it’s a part of the Middle East. But the actual vibe: It’s European. Part of what makes traveling this area so fascinating is the sheer amount of history contained in a small geographic area.
In this Second Episode of Georgia Travel Guide, We have featured the top tourist destinations of this beautiful country from the Bird's Eye View perspective in stunning aerial videos shot on Drone.
Hope you like and love this episode as well! Episode III is also coming soon!

Telavi Georgia | Wine tasting and city tour |
Wine was invented in Georgia?! Tastes like it ;)
Pop Quiz: What infamous world leader was born in Georgia?
Join us as we explore this hidden gem of Eastern Europe: Telavi, Georgia, taste some of the best micro wines in the area at Hotel Tela, and get a taste of the cultural and historical monuments that make this town a must add to your Georgia travel list.
Telavi is a little town of one of the oldest countries in the world - Georgia, which is located between Europe and Asia, which is known for its rich historical past, parts of which can be seen in the center of Telavi represented by the palace of king ErekleII but we will go back to king Erekle later... Telavi is the perfect mixture of both, past and present. Aesthetic architecture combined with local people, who are known for their warm hospitality, will rarely leave anyone’s heart untouched.
As we mentioned, parts of the history is widely spread in all the sides of Telavi. A good example of it will be one of the oldest trees which is 900 years old and is so famous that some of the guests of Georgia visit Telavi specifically to see the “rock star” of trees, called “Chadari” (plane tree). The Museum of Georgia is one of the most influential in the region and country. King ErekleII is vindicated in his original form with exhibited exponents and friendly guides, whom eloquently enlivens the whole history for visitors. Museum is not the only footprint made by king Erekle’s epoch. Telavi is proud to have a theatre which was based by the king himself and is still functioning as one of the greatest theaters of the country, known in whole Caucasus region by its theatrical festivals. All the above mentioned, combined with the cafes in the style of European aesthetics and the bookshops make Telavi culturally satisfying as well.
Most of the airlines have flights in the capital city of Georgia - Tbilisi or the countries second largest town Kutaisi. When it comes to transporting inside of the country, you have to remember one thing: Georgia is a small country, so small that you have to try very hard to get lost there... Territory of whole country is 69,700 km² so as you can already tell it’s very easy to move from one town to the other with transports such as taxi or buss.
Along with widely known hotel brands, there are many small and cozy hotels in Telavi which have more than affordable prices to offer. Hotel “Tela” falls right into this category, which not only follows all the common rules of hotel services, but also offers you the experience which is quite unique: they allow you to be the guest at their winery, where they make their own wine in the best traditions of unique way of Georgian winemaking (Georgia is acknowledged by many influential sources as the first country to make wine) with large pitchers under the earth and all.. but it’s not all! You can inspect not only their winery while listening to the story of winemaking, but you can also have a tasting of variety of Georgian wines and cheeses which are also made by them. There are so many things to mention while speaking about the dignities of “Tela”, but we MUST mention their terrace, from which you can see the whole town and the magical view of huge Caucasus Mountains. So, the glass of Georgian wine and a beautiful view... sounds cool, doesn’t it?!
Everyone, who has been in Georgia, usually complain about the weight they’ve gained because of delicious Georgian food which are rich not only by the tastes but also with the calories. You can taste ‘Khachapuri” (cheese in dough) which is often called “cousin of Pizza”, “Khinkali” (uniquely manufactured meat bandaged in boiled dough) and Georgian bread which has a very different taste (nothing like any other bread) and a very different way of making it: Georgians bake it in the earthen pit, center of which is a burning fire, which gives the bread a very interesting taste. And lastly, food prices are surprisingly low in Georgia. For example, you can buy almost all the above mentioned food for two people in 15$ only (there are some really good restaurants on every step of the way). So, Georgia/ Telavi must be a good idea! What do you think?...

Georgia has protected its artistic heritage and been able to maintain the vibrancy of its unique traditions. It has conserved a biodiversity greater than that of some continents, and has a magnetism which draws people back to visit over and over again. Although as small as Switzerland, Georgia is big in all aspects; a progressive nation, European in attitude and Western in spirit; a real Caucasian country with the joy of the Mediterranean.
The vast vineyards of the Eastern Region of Kakheti, home to the largest wineries in the nation, are a clear illustration of this passion. In Georgia, there are a considerable number of grape varieties, more than anywhere else in the world. Most of them are used to make high-quality wines as prestigious as Tsinandali, Mukuzani, Theliani or Napareuli, all of which have received gold, silver and bronze medal awards in international competitions.
The care of the grape pickers and the meticulous selection process during the harvest, have led to Georgian wines enjoying worldwide recognition. According to archaeological research, Georgia is at the very cradle of wine culture, as grapes have been cultivated in this area for 7,000 years. It may even be true that the generic word for this most ancient of alcoholic drinks is derived from the Georgian word “gvino” And in some “marani”, or traditional wine cellars, such as this one in the town of Gurjaani, grapes are still pressed by foot in wooden vats to avoid crushing the seeds, which would give the wine a bitter taste.
In Kakheti, almost everything revolves around wine. Proof of this is the XVI century wine cellar in Velistsikhe, in which the traditional “kvevri” are still used: clay barrels buried underground that maintain a constant temperature to ensure optimal fermentation.
These fossilized grapes from the Neolithic Age and the discovery of vessels from the III century B.C., prove that since Prehistory, wine has played a key socioeconomic role in this region.

Kakheti: Georgia's cradle of wine
Kakheti is Georgia's main wine-producing region in the country's east. Wine grapes have been cultivated in these lands for 8,000 years, which, archaeologists say, makes Kakheti the cradle of wine.
A total of 104 endemic varieties of grapes grow at the Alaverdi Monastery of Saint George, which traces its history back to the sixth century. The unique Georgian way of making wine was passed on by the Orthodox monks through the ages.
Wine making began here from the very first days of the monaster…
