Mt. Kitanglad Range Natural Park
Officially named as Mt. Kitanglad Range Natural Park, ASEAN Heritage Park also known as Cinchona Park / Forest Reserve at Kaatuan, Lantapan, Bukidnon, Philippines.
In 2009, Mt. Kitanglad Range becomes the 28th and the third in the country to be a member of the ASEAN heritage park after Mt. Apo and Mt. Iglit Baco. As an ASEAN Heritage Park it means that it is an existing protected area of the ASEAN member countries which have been recognized as regionally important based on their conservation value. It is our pride especially the people of Bukidnon to have this Heritage Park in our area. This is one of the tourist sites in country that is increasing in popularity.
The cinchona forest reserve is one of the entry points to explore Mt. Kitanglad. It is an hour drive from Malaybalay City, from the main road of Lantapan, Bukidnon to Brgy. Kaatuan is an uphill and rough road. The local government of Lantapan is on the process of cementing the road from the main road of Lantapan going uphill to Mt. Kitanglad Range Nature Park at Brgy. Kaatuan.
Upon reaching the site is a huge camping site the temperature is really cold. A few walk from the entrance is the canopy walk and one of its features is the hanging bridge. I enjoy feasting on the site of a very thick forest cover from the hanging bridge.
And just nearby the Philippine eagles nest.
The place is so quite you can only hear the sounds of nature. The rushing water from the nearby spring and the bird calls on an early morning.
The entrance fee is 30 pesos. Aside from that you need to coordinate and pay 100 pesos each at the provincial DENR at Malaybalay City.
