Our Itinerary:
Day 1 - #pitamakanpass and #dawsonpass
This hike was absolutely incredible, a great way to kick off our trip! We broke our record for longest day hike ever, and had a BLAST doing it!
Day 2 - Upper #twomedicinelake & #twinfalls
Another great hike, this one takes you by an incredible double waterfall and ends at the BEAUTIFUL Upper Two Medicine Lake!
Day 3 - #avalanchelake & #trailofthecedars
Probably the busiest of all of these hikes, but with good reason. Avalanche Lake is SO SO pristine and calm!
Day 4 - #bowmanlake & #numaridge lookout
This is the furthest West we'll go, and the most remote hike of all 9! Numa Ridge is epic, but it is a GRIND to get to!
Day 5 - West #lakemcdonald
No trip to Glacier is complete without a stop at Lake McDonald. A great way to see this lake is by hiking the West side and finishing with an ice cream cone in Apgar Village!
Day 6 - #hiddenlake and #goingtothesunroad
If the Going to the Sun Road is open, you drive it! And when you do, stop at Logan Pass for the Hidden Lake hike! You won't regret it.
Day 7 - #crackerlake
We made it to Many Glacier! 3 of our 4 favorite hikes, starting with Cracker Lake and the most blue milky water we have seen up to this point! And we saw a mountain goat and moose at the top!
Day 8 - #iceberglake
There are literally icebergs in this lake. Everywhere! And this is in Grizzly territory, so be prepared.
Day 9 - #grinnelllake & #grinnellglacier
Our favorite hike of our entire time in Glacier! Grinnell is SO SO SO COOL!

Glacier National Park: Triple Arches
Going-to-the-Sun Road - Point of Interest: Triple Arches
Triple Arches is one of the most recognizable features along the Going-to-the-Sun Road. An elegant solution to an early engineering problem, it has become a symbol of the care and dedication in the original construction of the road. Watch the video to learn more.

Apgar Campground in Glacier National Park near West Glacier Montana is the largest campground in Glacier National Park. With a flat topographer and simple loop setup with large easy to access pull thru sites the campground is a popular destination for both RVs and tent campers. All of the loops (A-E) are nearly identical (E is for groups only) with paved roads and dirt parking pads. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring.
25 sites can accommodate up to a 40 foot RV or truck and trailer combination.
As with all the campgrounds in Glacier National Park there is a huge shortage of bear boxes (food storage) that coincides perfectly with a growing population of bears (insert sarcasm: we don't see this ending badly in the future). It is up to you to be bear aware. Properly store and handle your food and scented items.
Water spigots, flush toilets, sinks, and dish cleaning sinks available throughout the various loops. Multi-use trails, hiking trails and easy access to Apgar Village and Lake McDonald make this a convenient and popular camping destination. A dump station is available near the entrance.
The Apgar Visitor Center is a short walk from this campground where park guests can ride the free park shuttle along the entire Going to the Sun Road.
Apgar Campground accepts reservations and they are recommended during the peak season. Lake McDonald allows private motorboats and a launch ramp is nearby. Also kayakers and canoeists enjoy the lake for flat water paddling.
Restaurants and groceries are a short distance away. In addition Verizon cell and data coverage is good in this location.

Glacier National Park Aerial footage in 4K (Phantom 3) - LAKE McDONALD 2015 (West Glacier, Montana)
Beautiful aerial photography of Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park, Montana! This was filmed in West Glacier mid- June of 2015 with the Dji Phantom 3. Lake McDonald is right inside the park on the Going to The Sun Road. It's so beautiful. There are usually very few waves and it is often as smooth as glass. -|| MORE GLACIER VIDEOS ||-

Mt. Stimson Ski Tour
Day four of an epic trip. Our group of six finished Glacier National Park's 40-mile Nyack Loop in nine days, but we wished we would have lingered here longer. Stimson Creek drainage blew our minds- very few have been on the north flanks of Stimson and Pinchot, especially in winter. The skiing was fantastic, and Conor O'Niel and I made the first descent of one of the unnamed glaciers in the Park. Unfortunately, we were told by rangers that by the time we got it officially named, it would be gone.

Huckleberry Mountain Lookout
Awesome hike up 3400 feet in six miles. The walk down is so much nicer especially picking huckleberries. The views at the lookout are beautiful, complete 360 views. Some of the group saw a small black bear that ran when he saw them, maybe he heard the sound of velcro as the bear spray was pulled out of holsters. A 12 mile hike, best not on a hot day and beware that this is an area of bears in Glacier National Park on the west side Camas creek area.
McDonald Lake, Mission Mountain Tribal Wilderness, Montana October 2018
Took the DJI Phantom 4 Pro+ Obsidian drone for a long flight deep into the Mission Mountains located in Western Montana on the Flathead Indian Reservation. I love coming up here in the fall to see the colors change as the season dips from Fall into Winter. This is East of Charlo, Montana.
Top Things to See at Glacier National Park | 10K-mile Road Trip Vlog 47
Here are the top 5 things to do and see in Glacier National Park, Montana, from driving along the Going-to-the-Sun Road to the best hikes and seeing waterfalls and wildlife along the way. See below for more details:
1. Going-to-the-Sun Road
This is a 50-mile road that crosses the park and has epic views almost the entire way. It takes the term scenic highway to a level you never thought possible. Lots of turnoffs along the way to stop for pictures. The road is covered in snow and impassible for most of the year. It is usually only open from late June/early July through mid-October. Check the National Park Service page for exact open and close dates:
Even if you don't have time to do any hikes, just driving along this road is worth the trip. We cannot get over how pretty the scenery is.
2. Hike the Highline Trail (at Logan Pass)
The Highline Trail is the most scenic and breathtakingly beautiful trail I've ever been on. The views over the valley below are incredible. The flowers are colorful and gorgeous. And since you start at Logan Pass with an elevation of over 6600 feet, you don't have to do any work to get the amazing views. You may have to get over your fear of heights, but it's totally worth it. DON'T RUN and DON'T WALK BACKWARDS on this trail - two things I did and I can attest that neither one is smart.
3. Hike Hidden Lake (at Logan Pass)
Hidden Lake is a short hike (1.3 miles) from the visitor center at Logan Pass. It's completely exposed to the sun the entire time. It's always busy. Always. You will see mountain goats on this trail. They're everywhere.
4. Sun Point at Saint Mary Lake
About 15 minutes past Logan Pass is Sun Point. There's a large parking lot right there so it's only a 0.1 mile hike out to the point and it's so pretty. You can see so many mountains and you have such a great view over the lake in all directions.
5. McDonald Falls and Lake McDonald
On the north side of Lake McDonald, turn on North Lake McDonald Road and drive for about 2 minutes to the small parking area on your right. You'll see a trailhead for McDonald Creek. That will take you to the waterfall. Look for deer along this trail (we saw two). You can follow the trail out to Lake McDonald too.
For up-to-date info on road closures, fires, and weather, check out the Glacier National Park site:

12 Easy Things to do with Family and Kids in Glacier National Park Montana
Glacier National Park: Easy Things to do with Family and Kids
More details in blog post here:
Glacier National Park in Montana is one the most popular things to see in Montana and things to do in Montana and it's especially fun for families who travel with kids.
While most people worry about the weather or where to find accommodations (see the blog post for more info there) this video focuses on what to do on your glacier national park vacation.
First off, glacier park is located in Montana, not Canada as some people think. You can find a map of the park at the gate or the NPS website. The best time to go to glacier national park is...in the morning. Not what you suspected but most people don't get going until after 10 and you will see more wildlife in the early morning and avoid the heat and crowds. The weather in glacier will vary based on season and elevation (see the blog). Glacier park activities range from the jr. ranger program to guided tours and shuttle busses and hikes.
Visiting Glacier national park can be a bucket list summer vacation so make sure you are prepared before you go, and have a great time!
