East St. Louis murder seen on videotape
Surveillance video shows the murder Kenneth Richards in the upper left hand corner. He is seated on a Pontiac parked on the lot of Denese’s nightclub in the 200 block of Collinsville Avenue in East St. Louis on Sept. 1, 2013.
It took a jury just 90 minutes Thursday to acquit Torcus Boone, 42, of the murder of 20-year-old Kenneth “Cootie” Richards. Richards’ murder was caught on a surveillance camera placed in the parking lot of an East St. Louis nightclub. The tape was played for the jury in the trial of Boone, who was accused of being one of the shooters who sent 17 bullets in Richards’ direction as he sat on a Pontiac parked on the lot of Denese’s nightclub in the 200 block of Collinsville Avenue in East St. Louis on Sept. 1, 2013. The fatal shot was to Richards’ head. The tape showed one man approaching Richards, then pulling up a gun and begin firing. As he walked away, the tape showed another man, who prosecutors said was Boone, running up to Richards and firing more shots, then fleeing.
But this person’s face can’t be clearly seen on the tape because it was obscured with a white cloth. One witness, Renee Rosebud, testified the shooter was Boone.
Kuehn told the jury that Rosebud never said that she saw Boone’s face during the shooting, but that she identified him across the crowded parking lot by his gait, his build and the shape of his head.
“I’m not sure I could identify my wife in those conditions,” Kuehn said.
Kuehn told the jury they should question Rosebud’s testimony because she told police the day after Richards’ murder that it was Boone and two other men that were also responsible for her son’s murder. The identity of Rosebud’s son was not immediately available.
Without good eyewitness testimony and with no motive, Kuehn asked the jury to acquit Boone.

Ringling Bros Circus St. Louis Missouri & America want YOU GONE!-Nation's Largest Cruelty Criminals
---RINGLING BROS. CIRCUS ARE THE LARGEST CRUELTY CRIMINALS IN U.S. HISTORY FINED $270,000 FOR 27 FEDERAL AWA VIOLATIONS AND CONVICTED BY GOVERNMENT FOR FEDERAL ELEPHANT TORTURE
--SEARCH-- CNN RINGLING ABUSE ON YOU TUBE FOR NEWS COVERAGE
Animals in the circus have not been asked to be there. They are stolen from the wild, babies ripped from their mothers and beaten into submission to perform. Elephants live a majority of their lives in chains. Tigers are crammed in into tiny cages for months on end. This atrocity must end now and we are putting a stop to it. But we can't succeed without you!
Contact Congress this week!
Ask your Representative in Congress to support and co-sponsor the Traveling Exotic Animal Protection Act (H.R. 3359), a landmark federal bill that aims to protect elephants, tigers, bears and other wild animals from being forced to perform in traveling circuses.
What you can do:
It is easy to send an email and make a quick call to your member of congress today! Animal Defenders International is leading a big grassroots push to flood Congress with calls and emails. Even if you have already sent a message, please call today!
Please send an automated email message to your Representative in Congress by filling out a simple form online here. This form will find your Representative, and send him/her the appropriate message. At breakthechainus.org you will also find talking points and sample letters if you wish to personalize your email.
Then, please follow up with a quick call to Congress. Call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask for your Representative's office. (Please do not call your Senator at this time as a companion bill in the Senate has not yet been introduced.)
Spread the word on Facebook and Twitter!
We want to hear from you! Please contact Animal Defenders International at usa@ad-international.org and let us know the response you get from your Representative so that we can effectively advance this important legislation.
Tips for calling your Representative:
Identify yourself and ask to speak with the staff/aide assigned to issues regarding wildlife and the humane care of animals.
Take note of their name and ask the aide to please pass along a message to your Representative that you are encouraging them to support and co-sponsor the Traveling Exotic Animal Protection Act (H.R. 3359).
You may want to share some examples of why this bill is needed:
H.R. 3359 is necessary because no amount of expensive regulation will eliminate the serious threat circuses pose to public safety. Diseases including tuberculosis can be transmitted from animals to humans and animals such as lions, tigers and elephants have all been known to escape and have killed, maimed or injured circus workers, members of the public and children.
Regulation will not protect wild animals from a life of ongoing physical and social deprivation. Wild animals in traveling circuses endure confinement, long, grueling journeys, brutal control methods and physical violence.
Investigations have revealed circus animals are trained through domination using weapons including bullhooks, whips and electric shocking devices.
H.R. 3359 is an important animal protection measure that will relieve an enormous amount of suffering, will save resources and protect people.
Background about H.R. 3359
The Traveling Exotic Animal Protection Act, H.R. 3359, will restrict the use of exotic and non-domesticated animals from traveling circuses in the United States.
The bill was introduced Nov. 2nd, 2011 by Congressmen Jim Moran (D-VA) and Bill Young (R-FL) and is gaining momentum with 23 co-sponsors and is currently awaiting a hearing in the House Ag Subcommittee of Livestock, Dairy and Poultry.
Celebrity protectionists Bob Barker and Jorja Fox were also present for the historic launch of this landmark bill for animal protection in the United States.

UNITED STATES STEEL BUILDING OF THE ST. LOUIS ARCH MONUMENT TO A DREAM 79464
Monument To The Dream is a 1967 short documentary film on the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial Arch over the Mississippi River in St. Louis, Missouri. Produced by Guggenheim Productions for United States Steel, the film begins with men making carbon steel plates (00:12) into 15-ton, 2-ply sheets in Pennsylvania. In St. Louis (00:45), a triangular foundation of tons of concrete is formed and set, ready to bear the steel plates. Those plates are loaded onto railcars (01:13) and sent to St. Louis, where they are removed from the train (02:00) and placed so that the welders can weld the sheets together. On 12 February 1963, the first welded steel piece is ready and is placed on the concrete foundation. The 50-ton steel triangles are built and then stacked, creating the foundation of the arch’s legs (04:03). Each section is lined up then the gaps are tack-welded (05:20). By summer, six sections are up, and a platform derrick must be used to complete construction. By the fall of 1963, the scale of the structure is apparent. In 1964, the arch’s legs are nearly 300 feet high. Engineers continue to place steel bars and pour concrete inside the structure (07:26); over 25,000 tons of concrete is used. Come summer, the structure is taller than ever, measuring in at 400 feet. Steel eye-beam tracks are put in position (09:07) and an 80-ton creeper moves up the tracks (10:12). A shot of the partially constructed arch (10:42) shows just how imposing the finished structure will be. Geometry control readings are taken at night (11:00) then compared to computer readings. On 17 June 1965, a 60-ton bridging strut is raised to join the two legs of the arch (11:58). Views from atop the structure, roughly 500 feet above the river and St. Louis, are stunning. Men secure the bridging strut and begin closing the distance between the two legs. Sept In 1965, more than two-and-a-half years since construction began, men ride an elevator 12 minutes, passing capital building (14:11), to reach the top. The creeper and cranes hoist more sections. A triangular piece is hoisted up (15:58). Section-by-section, the gap is closed, and an aerial shot shows the progress made (17:00). On 8 October 1965, the final piece is ready to be lifted up and attached (17:35). Men fight the sun’s heat on the structure by spraying water on it. The legs are jacked apart 4 feet (18:15) to get the space to put in the final piece. A shot from on top of the structure shows the football stadium in the background (18:54). The final piece is lifted (19:00) as people gather at the bottom to celebrate the completion of the arch. The final piece passes the capital building (20:00) and reaches the top (21:23). Men move it into place and secure it, completing the arch (22:29). The film concludes with scenes of arch as the sun sets in the background.

Tips for a visit to the Gateway Arch Saint Louis Mo: Christian goes on the Oregon Trail
Tips for a visit to the Gateway Arch Saint Louis Mo: We travel the Oregon Trail
This is our favorite city and Christian invites you to come and visit sometime!
We went to Saint Louis for the day and was not let down in our expectation of what it had to offer. The Arch museum was exciting and interactive. It was fun for all ages. It is free to explore the museum; however the arch ride it not free.
The new entrance was from the front of the arch and the exits were on the side of the river. They also have a water feature in the front of the arch-where you would walk in.
New security has been put in for everyone's safety. Parking is on the city street or public parking in the area.
For this sensory seeker the walk from the river front and the excitement of the train, walkway, water, and sights, sounds, and smells were enough to keep him busy and interested in what was going to happen next. He also tried out the scooters Saint Louis offers with an easy to download app by Lime or Bird.
Once at the Gateway Arch he had to touch the side, measure himself to the arch, and interact with the people visiting. Everyone was pleasant and engaged in simple conversations with him quickly and easily. He had a wonderful time inside the museum where again it was interactive and full of surprises.
Tips for this visit would be to park on the city side and not Morgan street as the entrance is now on the City side and not the river front side of the arch. The area has a large park which is nice for walks, scooters, and biking. The area is active and vibrant which can be over stimulating if your child has avoidance or anxiety. The fountain in the front of the Arch is large and you could get splashed if not careful. Inside you will be searched and guided to the exhibits. The line for the tram up the arch is always long so keep that in mind if you have younger children or older adults who need to rest. The exhibits are circular, sometimes noisy, and busy so keeping up with busy children is a bit challenging. The area has plenty of staff, guards, and park rangers so no fear a child will be stolen or lost. All in all it was a great experience and we would recommend it to anyone-everyone.
per the website:
Trace the story of the Native Americans, explorers, pioneers, and rebels who made America possible. Featuring 201 years of history within six themed exhibit areas, this innovative and interactive museum celebrates America’s pioneering spirit and explains the westward expansion of the United States with an emphasis on St. Louis’ role in that era. The galleries span from 1764 to 1965 with topics covering the growth and stability of Saint Louis and it's people.
Christian enjoyed the Organ Trail interactive game while pretending to cross the Mississippi with staff who helped him understand what it would be like to leave Saint Louis and take one of the famous trails out west.

Stop the Violence from Ferguson to Gaza: 90-Year-Old Holocaust Survivor Arrested in St. Louis
- Just days after her 90th birthday, Holocaust survivor Hedy Epstein was arrested Monday in St. Louis when she was part of a protest outside Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon's office. Epstein was born in Germany and left in 1939 on a Kindertransport to England. Her parents died in Auschwitz. Epstein is a co-founder of the St. Louis Palestine Solidarity Committee and St. Louis branch of Jewish Voice for Peace. In 2011, she was part of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla, and was a passenger on the U.S.-flagged ship, The Audacity of Hope. Over the years she has made many solidarity trips to the West Bank. Epstein criticizes the police handling of protests in Ferguson. “It’s the same kind of violence that I’ve observed when I was in the Israeli-occupied Palestine,” Epstein says. “I know what it feels like to be discriminated against, to be oppressed, and I can’t stand idly by when I see there are problems.”

Kidnapping of man in St. Louis connected to double shooting in county
5 On Your Side has learned police believe a man who said he was kidnapped in his own Porsche in St. Louis is connected to the double shooting of two women in St. Louis County, which left one of them dead.
And the surviving victim from the shooting told police one of the shooters is connected to one of her relatives, according to a police source.
St. Louis County Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Benjamin Granda would not confirm or deny that the two incidents are connected.
With any investigation, our detectives could potentially make connections to other criminal activity in the county or region, He wrote. The investigation remains very active.
Police have confirmed that a 27-year-old man told police he had been kidnapped by three men from the 1800 block of O’Fallon Street and forced at gunpoint into his own car, a 2017 Porsche Panamera.
He told police that the men disarmed him and put him in restraints as they drove him through different areas in the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County, threatening to hurt him and his family if he did not tell them where he was hiding money.
The man escaped from his own car in the 3000 block of North 22nd Street, and his attackers fired shots at him as he ran.
Residents in a nearby home took him in and he called police, who responded at 10:06 p.m. There, police found the victim’s car and contacted St. Louis County, which was handling the St. Louis County case, according to a police source.
A woman who did not want to be identified told a reporter that the kidnapping victim “frantically” banged on her door late Monday, saying he had been kidnapped and was running from gunfire. The family said they heard the shots. The man then told the family that his cousin was among the men who kidnapped him and was on parole for a murder charge. He told the family that he had just been to one of his relative’s homes near Overland, where the men robbed two women and shot them.
The kidnapping victim told police that one of the women in the county case is his family member, and that they forced him to go to her house so they could rob her, according to the source.
St. Louis County police responded to that shooting around 9:50 p.m. in the 10800 block of Midland Boulevard.
They found a 44-year-old woman dead at the scene. The other, a 41-year-old, was taken to the hospital for life-saving treatment.
Police also believe one of the shooters is connected to a relative of the surviving victim, according to the source.
Police did not give her condition.
