24 Hours in Oregon's Crater Lake National Park
Crater Lake is gorgeous. Many destinations in the park do not open until mid July. Suggestions for a day in Crater Lake: Stop by the Visitor Center. Take the Rim Drive and stop at the overlooks. Take the Cleetwood Cove Trail down to the water's edge and hop aboard one of the tour boats on the lake - or have a picnic lunch on Wizard Island. As you leave, stop and wander the lobby of Crater Lake Lodge built in 1915.

Swimming in Crater Lake, Crater Lake National Park Oregon.
The Paley's (minus Sue) take a dip in Crater Lake just ahead of oncoming Thunderstorm. I wasn't going to do it. I didn't even have a swimsuit. But there was no way I could resist the allure... got out of there just in time as lightning chased us back up the trail. Ha I just realized that nobody is actually in the water in this clip!

James Jumps into Crater Lake at Cleetwood Cove (Oregon, USA)
Friday, July 30, 2010: A guy named James allowed me to video and photograph him while he jumped off rocks into water in Cleetwood Cove at Crater Lake National Park in Oregon, USA. I eventually jumped as well. Go! Enjoy jumping, swimming and diving in the natural, awesome, beautiful, refreshing, clean, clear, blue, COLD water of this incredible caldera volcanic basin lake formed by the collapse of the Mount Mazama volcano around 7,700 years ago. On average, it is the deepest lake in the United States and is located in Klamath County near Klamath Falls, northeast of Medford, Oregon.

Crater Lake National Park - Day 1
► Cleetwood Cove
Cleetwood Cove is one of the best hikes in the park, and is certainly a must-do. Cleetwood Cove is the only trail that takes you straight down to the shore of Crater Lake, and you can even dive in and go for a swim if you'd like to! Crater Lake looks so clean and pure from the shore, do yourself a favor and hike Cleetwood Cove during your visit to Crater Lake National Park.
► Mount Scott
Mount Scott is the highest point in all of Crater Lake National Park. So you'll first head to the base of the lake at Cleetwood Cove, then get a bird's eye view at Mount Scott! This is a fantastic hike, and gives you the chance to see a full panorama of the beauty of the entire park. Mount Scott is a must.
Crater Lake National Park - Day 2
► Garfield Peak
While Garfield Peak is a tad smaller than Mount Scott, the view is arguably better. Garfield Peak is situated right on top of Crater Lake, so the view from the peak is absolutely gorgeous, there is not a better one in the entire park. On the way to Garfield Peak, you'll see Phantom Ship Island, which is a must-see, as this eerily looks like an old sailing ship!
► Watchman Peak
The Watchman Peak is our final stop, and this one is fantastic for a few reasons. First off, it is low effort, high reward. After 2 full days of hiking, you may be ready for a nice easy hike, and Watchman Peak is the one for you. Under a mile each way, this offers stunning views of the entire lake and Wizard Island. Wizard Island is the largest and most magnificent of Crater Lake's islands, and is stunning to view from Watchman Peak. Also, Watchman Peak offers the chance to learn about the landscape and history of Crater Lake on the many informational signs posted at the top.
Also while in Crater Lake National Park, stop at the visitor center and check out the free 30 minute video on how Crater Lake was created. Mount Mazama, formerly one of the tallest peaks in Oregon, collapsed into an enormous caldera, and over thousands of years rain and snow fell into the huge bowl. This caused water levels to rise and rise to the levels they are today! Still, no streams enter or leave Crater Lake, making the lake completely still and perfectly clear!

Hi, we are Julie & Zach, a couple who sold everything in 2018 and took off an adventure around the world! So far, this journey has taken us in a van ALL ACROSS the United States and Canada, from snorkeling with manatees in Florida to camping in the Grand Canyon to climbing glaciers in Canada, and everything in between! We were both working and going to school while living in Chicago in 2017 and 2018, and to be honest it really wore on us. We were exhausted, unfulfilled, and ready for an adventure. So, we made it happen! We saved up AS MUCH as we could over those 2 years - all homemade meals, no shopping, walk or bike everywhere, etc - and sold almost all of our belongings! With that money, we bought a renovated a van that we have been living in ever since! We started our YouTube channel a few weeks ago and have been loving creating videos! When we started, we were SO SO SO SO bad at it, and to be honest we still kinda suck, but we want to get better! What videos do you want to see? What do you want to know? Let us know and we will make it happen!
We believe that travel is truly a life-changing experience, it certainly changed ours! When you get out of your everyday world and experience new cultures, foods, places, people, sights, sounds, and take an adventure, you grow as a person and you become a better version of yourself! You are WAY stronger than you know, and stronger than you give yourself credit for. You have the ability to do anything, so make it happen! BE FOREVER FREE!

Hiking at Crater Lake National Park
Crater Lake is a caldera lake in the western United States, located in south-central Oregon. It is the main feature of Crater Lake National Park and is famous for its deep blue color and water clarity. The lake partly fills a nearly 2,148-foot deep caldera that was formed around 7,700 years ago by the collapse of the volcano Mount Mazama. There are no rivers flowing into or out of the lake; the evaporation is compensated for by rain and snowfall at a rate such that the total amount of water is replaced every 250 years. At 1,943 feet, the lake is the deepest in the United States, and one of the deepest in the world.

Crater Lake National Park
The fifth stop on our West Coast road trip, and the one that was the genesis for the whole trip. Rim Drive was still not fully open, but the boat tours had been going on for 2 weeks. That tour was the highlight and the weather was perfect. We didn't do any backpacking this time. I did a short off-trail hike to a rarely seen yet very neat feature, a slot canyon carved through pumice, Llao's Hallway.

My dad and I (plus my 2 dogs) visited Crater Lake National Park in Oregon on the 4th of July. It is one of the most beautiful places I've ever visit... a MUST if you're in Oregon!

CRATER LAKE BOAT TOUR & WATERFALLS JULY 2014
PHOTO & VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS OF THE CRATER LAKE BOAT TOUR. Clearwater Falls just outside the National Park starts the show. A few views from the rim of Crater Lake are followed by a glimpse of Videa Falls. The Cleetwood Cove Trail is the only way down to the lake. The trail drops 800 feet in 1.1 mile. The spectacular views from the boat tour are never seen by most visitors to Crater Lake National Park. If you don't want to hike the steep trail down & up, take this virtual tour.
