Crater Lake National Park, Oregon, USA in 4K (Ultra HD)
Crater Lake is a stunningly beautiful lake, formed in volcano caldera, after the volcano collapsed 7,700 years ago. The lake is deep almost 2000 ft/600 m, it is 5 mi/8 km across its shorter side, a little more on the longer one.
Enjoy views of the lake with its incredible blue color from a boat, from the top of Wizard Island, the Rim Trail and the surrounding peaks - Mt Scott, Garfield Peak and the Watchman.

Crater Lake (Klamath: giiwas) is a crater lake in south-central Oregon in the western United States. It is the main feature of Crater Lake National Park and is famous for its deep blue color and water clarity. The lake partly fills a nearly 2,148-foot (655 m)-deep caldera that was formed around 7,700 (± 150) years ago by the collapse of the volcano Mount Mazama. There are no rivers flowing into or out of the lake; the evaporation is compensated for by rain and snowfall at a rate such that the total amount of water is replaced every 250 years. With a depth of 1,949 feet (594 m), the lake is the deepest in the United States. In the world, it ranks ninth for maximum depth, and third for mean (average) depth.
Crater Lake features two small islands. Wizard Island, located near the western shore of the lake, is a cinder cone approximately 316 acres (128 ha) in size. Phantom Ship, a natural rock pillar, is located near the southern shore.
Since 2002, one of the state's regular-issue license plate designs has featured Crater Lake and a one-time plate surcharge is used to support the operation of Crater Lake National Park. The commemorative Oregon State Quarter, which was released by the United States Mint in 2005, features an image of Crater Lake on its reverse.
The lake and surrounding park areas offer many recreational activities including hiking, biking, snowshoeing, fishing, and cross-country skiing are available, and during the summer, campgrounds and lodges at Crater Lake are open to visitors.

What's it like? Crater Lake National Park in Oregon...
Crater Lake, is right in the middle of Crater Lake National Park, in Oregon, USA. What I expected to be just another lake turned out to be the most blue body of water I have ever seen. It was mesmerizing and incredible, and if you're ever in Oregon, it's worth a trip to go see Crater Lake.

Majestic Crater Lake National Park Oregon 4k Video
Among all the amazing volcanoes in the Cascade Range in the Pacific Northwest, Crater Lake National Park in Oregon is a standout. The now water-filled crater formed when Mount Mazama experienced a massive eruption around 7700 years ago. The volcano ejected most of the contents of its magma chamber, leaving a void that the top 5,000 feet (of the 12,000 foot mountain) fell into. The crater was eventually filled with snowmelt and rainwater. Enchanting Wizard Island (actually a volcano that erupted from the caldera floor after the major eruption) and Phantom Ship island are two features that appear in the lake. In the summer, it's also fun to visit the lake's only boat ramp to take a dip in the lake. Thank you to the National Park Service for making Crater Lake National Park such a great place to tour, hike and swim.

Deepest Lake In America Crater Lake Oregon HD
Song: Behold...
Album: Native American Meditations
Label: New World Music
The Klamath tribe of Native Americans, who may have witnessed the collapse of Mount Mazama and the formation of Crater Lake, have long regarded the lake as a sacred site. Their legends tell of a battle between the sky god Skell and Llao, the god of the underworld. Mount Mazama was destroyed in the battle, creating Crater Lake. The Klamath people used Crater Lake in vision quests, which often involved climbing the caldera walls and other dangerous tasks. Those who were successful in such quests were often regarded as having more spiritual powers. The tribe still holds Crater Lake in high regard as a spiritual site.
Crater Lake is located in Klamath County, approximately 60 miles (97 km) northwest of the county seat of Klamath Falls, and about 80 miles (130 km) northeast of the city of Medford.
The lake is 5 by 6 miles (8 by 10 km) across with an average depth of 1,148 feet (350 m). Its maximum depth has been measured at 1,949 feet (594 m), which fluctuates slightly as the weather changes. This makes Crater Lake the deepest lake that is completely in the United States, the second deepest lake in North America, and the ninth deepest lake in the world (Lake Baikal is the deepest). Crater Lake is often cited as the seventh deepest lake in the world, but this ranking excludes Lake Vostok, which is situated under nearly 13,000 feet (4,000 m) of Antarctic ice, and the recent soundings of San Martín Lake, which is located on the border of Chile and Argentina.
However, on the basis of comparing average depths among the world's deepest lakes, Crater Lake becomes the deepest lake in the Western Hemisphere and the third deepest in the world.
The caldera rim of Crater Lake ranges in elevation from 7,000 to 8,000 feet (2,100 to 2,400 m).

American National Park Crater Lake | Crater Lake National Park | Southern Oregon
Crater Lake National Park is an American national park located in southern Oregon.
Established in 1902, Crater Lake is the fifth-oldest national park in the United States and the only national park in Oregon.
The park encompasses the caldera of Crater Lake, a remnant of a destroyed volcano, Mount Mazama, and the surrounding hills and forests.
The lake is 1,949 feet deep at its deepest point, which makes it the deepest lake in the United States, the second-deepest in North America and the ninth-deepest in the world.
Crater Lake is often referred to as the seventh-deepest lake in the world, but this former listing excludes the approximately 3,000-foot depth of subglacial Lake Vostok in Antarctica, which resides under nearly 13,000 feet of ice, and the recent report of a 2,740-foot maximum depth for Lake O'Higgins/San Martin, located on the border of Chile and Argentina.
However, when comparing its average depth of 1,148 feet to the average depth of other deep lakes, Crater Lake becomes the deepest in the Western Hemisphere and the third-deepest in the world.
The impressive average depth of this volcanic lake is due to the nearly symmetrical 4,000-foot-deep caldera formed 7,700 years ago during the violent climactic eruptions and subsequent collapse of Mount Mazama and the relatively moist climate that is typical of the crest of the Cascade Range.
The caldera rim ranges in elevation from 7,000 to 8,000 feet .
The United States Geological Survey benchmarked elevation of the lake surface is 6,178 feet .
The national park encompasses 183,224 acres .
Crater Lake has no streams flowing into or out of it.
All water that enters the lake is eventually lost from evaporation or subsurface seepage.
The lake's water commonly has a striking blue hue, and the lake is refilled entirely from direct precipitation in the form of snow and rain.
Volcanic activity in this area is fed by subduction off the coast of Oregon as the Juan de Fuca Plate slips below the North American Plate .
Heat and compression generated by this movement has created a mountain chain topped by a series of volcanoes, which together are called the Cascade Range.
The large volcanoes in the range are called the High Cascades.
However, there are many other volcanoes in the range as well, most of which are much smaller.
About 400,000 years ago, Mount Mazama began its existence in much the same way as the other mountains of the High Cascades, as overlapping shield volcanoes.
Over time, alternating layers of lava flows and pyroclastic flows built Mazama's overlapping cones until it reached about 11,000 feet in height.
As the young stratovolcano grew, many smaller volcanoes and volcanic vents were built in the area of the park and just outside what are now the park's borders.
Chief among these were cinder cones.
Although the early examples are gone—cinder cones erode easily—there are at least 13 much younger cinder cones in the park, and at least another 11 or so outside its borders, that still retain their distinctive cinder cone appearance.
There continues to be debate as to whether these minor volcanoes and vents were parasitic to Mazama's magma chamber and system or if they were related to background Oregon Cascade volcanism.
After a period of dormancy, Mazama became active again.
Then, around 5700 BC, Mazama collapsed into itself during a tremendous volcanic eruption, losing 2,500 to 3,500 feet in height.
The eruption formed a large caldera that, depending on the prevailing climate, was filled in about 740 years, forming a beautiful lake with a deep blue hue, known today as Crater Lake
The eruptive period that decapitated Mazama also laid waste to much of the greater Crater Lake area and deposited ash as far east as the northwest corner of what is now Yellowstone National Park, as far south as central Nevada, and as far north as southern British Columbia.
It produced more than 150 times as much ash as the May 18, 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens.
This ash has since developed a soil type called andisol.
Soils in Crater Lake National Park are brown, dark brown or dark grayish-brown sandy loams or loamy sands which have plentiful cobbles, gravel and stones.
They are slightly to moderately acidic and their drainage is somewhat excessive.
According to the Köppen climate classification system, Crater Lake National Park has a Continental Subarctic - Cold Dry Summer .
The plant hardiness zone at the lake is 6b with an average annual extreme minimum air temperature of -3.7 °F .
Snow is relatively rare at low elevations in western Oregon, but it is common at higher elevations, especially at Crater Lake.
Measurements at park headquarters, 6,475 feet above sea level, show that snow falls more often here than at any other long-term weather station in Oregon.

Why I will NEVER VISIT Crater Lake Oregon
Discovered in 1853 by John Wesley Hillman, Crater Lake in the south central region of Oregon is shrouded in mystery and strange occurrences. One of the biggest mysteries surrounding Crater Lake is The Old Man, a 35 foot tree trunk that floats vertically and travels about 2-5 miles in a single day. The trunk also appears to have supernatural powers that can control the weather in the area if the Old Man is disturbed. On top of a mysterious log that can change the forecast, many people go missing and some even do the unthinkable.
