Crater Lake National Park, Oregon, USA in 4K (Ultra HD)
Crater Lake is a stunningly beautiful lake, formed in volcano caldera, after the volcano collapsed 7,700 years ago. The lake is deep almost 2000 ft/600 m, it is 5 mi/8 km across its shorter side, a little more on the longer one.
Enjoy views of the lake with its incredible blue color from a boat, from the top of Wizard Island, the Rim Trail and the surrounding peaks - Mt Scott, Garfield Peak and the Watchman.
Recorded August 2016 in 4K (Ultra HD) with Sony AX100.

Deepest Lake In America Crater Lake Oregon HD
Song: Behold...
Album: Native American Meditations
Label: New World Music
The Klamath tribe of Native Americans, who may have witnessed the collapse of Mount Mazama and the formation of Crater Lake, have long regarded the lake as a sacred site. Their legends tell of a battle between the sky god Skell and Llao, the god of the underworld. Mount Mazama was destroyed in the battle, creating Crater Lake. The Klamath people used Crater Lake in vision quests, which often involved climbing the caldera walls and other dangerous tasks. Those who were successful in such quests were often regarded as having more spiritual powers. The tribe still holds Crater Lake in high regard as a spiritual site.
Crater Lake is located in Klamath County, approximately 60 miles (97 km) northwest of the county seat of Klamath Falls, and about 80 miles (130 km) northeast of the city of Medford.
The lake is 5 by 6 miles (8 by 10 km) across with an average depth of 1,148 feet (350 m). Its maximum depth has been measured at 1,949 feet (594 m), which fluctuates slightly as the weather changes. This makes Crater Lake the deepest lake that is completely in the United States, the second deepest lake in North America, and the ninth deepest lake in the world (Lake Baikal is the deepest). Crater Lake is often cited as the seventh deepest lake in the world, but this ranking excludes Lake Vostok, which is situated under nearly 13,000 feet (4,000 m) of Antarctic ice, and the recent soundings of San Martín Lake, which is located on the border of Chile and Argentina.
However, on the basis of comparing average depths among the world's deepest lakes, Crater Lake becomes the deepest lake in the Western Hemisphere and the third deepest in the world.
The caldera rim of Crater Lake ranges in elevation from 7,000 to 8,000 feet (2,100 to 2,400 m).

The magma chamber collapse and left a very deep caldera. Snow and rain filled the hole to a depth of over 1,900 feet deep. This makes Crater Lake the deepest lake in the United States. Crater Lake National Park - Day 1
► Cleetwood Cove
Cleetwood Cove is one of the best hikes in the park, and is certainly a must-do. Cleetwood Cove is the only trail that takes you straight down to the shore of Crater Lake, and you can even dive in and go for a swim if you'd like to! Crater Lake looks so clean and pure from the shore, do yourself a favor and hike Cleetwood Cove during your visit to Crater Lake National Park.
► Mount Scott
Mount Scott is the highest point in all of Crater Lake National Park. So you'll first head to the base of the lake at Cleetwood Cove, then get a bird's eye view at Mount Scott! This is a fantastic hike, and gives you the chance to see a full panorama of the beauty of the entire park. Mount Scott is a must.
Crater Lake National Park - Day 2
► Garfield Peak
While Garfield Peak is a tad smaller than Mount Scott, the view is arguably better. Garfield Peak is situated right on top of Crater Lake, so the view from the peak is absolutely gorgeous, there is not a better one in the entire park. On the way to Garfield Peak, you'll see Phantom Ship Island, which is a must-see, as this eerily looks like an old sailing ship!
► Watchman Peak
The Watchman Peak is our final stop, and this one is fantastic for a few reasons. First off, it is low effort, high reward. After 2 full days of hiking, you may be ready for a nice easy hike, and Watchman Peak is the one for you. Under a mile each way, this offers stunning views of the entire lake and Wizard Island. Wizard Island is the largest and most magnificent of Crater Lake's islands, and is stunning to view from Watchman Peak. Also, Watchman Peak offers the chance to learn about the landscape and history of Crater Lake on the many informational signs posted at the top.
Also while in Crater Lake National Park, stop at the visitor center and check out the free 30 minute video on how Crater Lake was created. Mount Mazama, formerly one of the tallest peaks in Oregon, collapsed into an enormous caldera, and over thousands of years rain and snow fell into the huge bowl. This caused water levels to rise and rise to the levels they are today! Still, no streams enter or leave Crater Lake, making the lake completely still and perfectly clear!

Hi, we are Julie & Zach, a couple who sold everything in 2018 and took off an adventure around the world! So far, this journey has taken us in a van ALL ACROSS the United States and Canada, from snorkeling with manatees in Florida to camping in the Grand Canyon to climbing glaciers in Canada, and everything in between! We were both working and going to school while living in Chicago in 2017 and 2018, and to be honest it really wore on us. We were exhausted, unfulfilled, and ready for an adventure. So, we made it happen! We saved up AS MUCH as we could over those 2 years - all homemade meals, no shopping, walk or bike everywhere, etc - and sold almost all of our belongings! With that money, we bought a renovated a van that we have been living in ever since! We started our YouTube channel a few weeks ago and have been loving creating videos! When we started, we were SO SO SO SO bad at it, and to be honest we still kinda suck, but we want to get better! What videos do you want to see? What do you want to know? Let us know and we will make it happen!
We believe that travel is truly a life-changing experience, it certainly changed ours! When you get out of your everyday world and experience new cultures, foods, places, people, sights, sounds, and take an adventure, you grow as a person and you become a better version of yourself! You are WAY stronger than you know, and stronger than you give yourself credit for. You have the ability to do anything, so make it happen! BE FOREVER FREE!

What's it like? Crater Lake National Park in Oregon...
Crater Lake, is right in the middle of Crater Lake National Park, in Oregon, USA. What I expected to be just another lake turned out to be the most blue body of water I have ever seen. It was mesmerizing and incredible, and if you're ever in Oregon, it's worth a trip to go see Crater Lake.

Hiking at Crater Lake National Park
Crater Lake is a caldera lake in the western United States, located in south-central Oregon. It is the main feature of Crater Lake National Park and is famous for its deep blue color and water clarity. The lake partly fills a nearly 2,148-foot deep caldera that was formed around 7,700 years ago by the collapse of the volcano Mount Mazama. There are no rivers flowing into or out of the lake; the evaporation is compensated for by rain and snowfall at a rate such that the total amount of water is replaced every 250 years. At 1,943 feet, the lake is the deepest in the United States, and one of the deepest in the world.
Garfield Peak, Toketee Falls 11/24/18
Today we take a four hour drive out to the deepest lake in the United States- Crater Lake! It is well worth the drive when the area is covered in snow as the views are just incredible! After the hike and a lunch break we then stop by Toketee Falls on our way home. It is a very short hike but the falls are a sight worth seeing... enjoy!
