Rogue River Headwaters Crater Lake National Park
A 6 mile round trip hike to the headwaters of the world famous Rogue River in Oregon. The river literally begins from a hole in the ground... a lava tube. Very, very cool! The river begins at Boundary Springs.

Youtube flags all my music so I thought I'd use their slick beats. 1 day of driving from Northern California inland to Crater lake and then following a river from the mountains in Oregon to the ocean. Some nice drives up the same Pacific Coast highway I've taken all along from California, very scenic in Oregon. Also lots of bridges in Oregon..

Natural Bridge: Oregon's Rogue River
The Rogue River is Southern Oregon largest river, but for a short time it gets forced beneath lava rocks and flows underground before maintaining its form. This is the scene roughly an hour from Medford on the road to Crater Lake.

National Creek Waterfalls Crater Lake Oregon 7 29 09
This is an excellent day hike for the whole family! The trail descends through a shaded, mixed conifer forest, ending at the base of National Creek Falls. Fed by springs on the pumice flanks of Mt. Mazama, National Creek flows year-round even in drought years. The falls provide a cool, moist oasis in the hot summer heat.
The National Creek drainage was a popular layover site for travelers on the old John Day Trail that passed just north of here at Lake West. Blazed out in the early 1860s by miners and stockmen, this route was used for travel from the Rogue Valley to the newly discovered gold mines in the John Day Valley. Reopened in 1910 by the Forest Service, this wagon road became known as the Diamond Lake Road.
Access: From the Union Creek Resort, travel north on Highway 62 to the junction of Highway 230. Follow Highway 230 for 6 miles to road 6530. Turn right and continue 3 miles to the junction with road 6530-300. Turn right and proceed to the parking area and trailhead at the end of the road.
Scott Walter takes you there.

24 Hours in Oregon's Crater Lake National Park
Crater Lake is gorgeous. Many destinations in the park do not open until mid July. Suggestions for a day in Crater Lake: Stop by the Visitor Center. Take the Rim Drive and stop at the overlooks. Take the Cleetwood Cove Trail down to the water's edge and hop aboard one of the tour boats on the lake - or have a picnic lunch on Wizard Island. As you leave, stop and wander the lobby of Crater Lake Lodge built in 1915.
