The campground is located about 60 miles south of Savannah and 20 miles north of St. Simons. The campground is big rig friendly offering easy access, large pull-thorough spaces, full hook-ups with cable, Wi-Fi, bath houses and laundry. The park has a number of well shaded spots and green space between each camper. This is a pretty campground and a welcomed stop after a long day of towing the 5th wheel from South Carolina. The town of Darien is 5 minutes away where you can restock grocery items, but there’s much more to this area than just a campground.

At least eight people died as flames consumed a marina full of house and recreational boats in far northeast Alabama early Monday, authorities said.
The blaze destroyed 35 vessels at the Jackson County Park, along the Tennessee River, in Scottsboro, Alabama, about 100 miles northeast of Birmingham and 40 miles east of Huntsville, officials said.
At this point, we can confirm eight fatalities,” Scottsboro Fire Chief Gene Necklaus told reporters just before noon Monday.
Scottsboro firefighters and Jackson County sheriff’s deputies responded to the blaze, which was reported about 12:40 a.m., officials said.
First responders said they struggled to pin down an exact number of missing people because houseboat residents are frequently in and out of their boats.
Firefighters and sheriff's deputies have made the search for victims a priority, Necklaus said.
This is not going to be over today. We’re going to be out there for a while. I’d estimate three to four days, possibly longer, the fire chief said.
Our primary objective remains to check every boat, every vessel, everything we can check to ensure we’ve accounted for all the victims.
Debbie Ashley, 61, a resident of Gadsden, Georgia, was camping nearby when she was jarred awake by what she thought were gunshots.
But then she looked outside, spotted the fire and drove to the scene to take footage of the blaze.
I opened the door, and I could see it glowing over the hills, she told NBC News. I got my dog and drove down there.
Seven boaters were treated at a local hospital, most for hypothermia having jumped into the water to escape flames, officials said. It was about 43 degrees in Scottsboro when the fire began.
Multiple boats sunk, some of them at the dock, some of them floated away from their moorings ... and sunk in the lake, Necklaus said.

The park on the Tennessee River includes hiking trails, cabin rentals, spots for recreational campers, docks and KC's BBQ, a restaurant that's been turned into a command post for first responders.
This is a mecca for bass fishing and people come here from far and wide, said former Jackson County Emergency Management Director Mike Ashburn, volunteering with his old agency Monday.

On the very last day of 2018 we found ourselves camped out at Atlanta State Park on Wright Patman lake deep in the East Texas piney woods. Just a short drive north and west of the Texas Town of Atlanta set way back in the tall pine trees Atlanta State Park is truly a beautuful place to visit with your RV.
Atlanta State Park is not well suited for the mobility challenged. I was unable to get down to the waters edge in most of the public use areas and there was little else for me to do in this Texas State Park.
Our visit coincided with several days of cold winter rain and that further dampened our spirits and motivated us to cut short our visit by one full day. Dont get me wrong we really enjoyed our short visit to Atlanta State Park and look forward to a return visit when the sun is shinning but on this visit is was wet and gloomy.

Abandoned State Hospital for the insane, USA
A trip inside an abandoned state hospital who's original purpose was to house the insane. This place has a lot of security, it was very difficult to get into. More so than getting in was not being seen by the multiple security personnel driving around and checking doors. We actually had to sit out on one of the rooves for about an hour and a half till dark to give ourselves a better chance to get out clean. Thank you for watching. What started as a routine traffic stop outside Oklahoma City escalated when the 65-year-old woman at the wheel refused to sign an $80 ticket for having a broken tail light. Every year, dollar stores see higher and higher earnings, but how can a store that seems like it's giving things away turn itself into a multi-billion-dollar enterprise? The answer is simple: that dollar isn't always the great deal it appears to be. Here are their secrets.
Whether times are good or bad, you can still count on people to flock to dollar stores because they have the one thing everyone loves: convenience. Sales for Dollar General are always on the upswing, with the chain seeing an increase of 3.7 percent between 2017 and 2018, regardless of the state of the economy. Take it from Dollar General CEO Todd Vasos, who had this to say about their regular customers:
We have seen no sign of trade out or trade up from our core customers. Even in a good economy, [they are] still looking for value and convenience.
So, basically, no matter how much money people have, they still want something that bigger grocery stores can't give them. Dollar stores are not just convenient because their items are cheaper, but also because there seems to be one on every corner — and that makes them perfect for a quick fill-in trip between your weekly grocery runs. These stores are also typically smaller than the ones in a big chain like Walmart, which means that you can usually get in and out with your emergency bag of dog food, a handful of snacks, or supplies for your kid's art project in just a couple of minutes. The fact that most people are on to this, means dollar stores are always making money — even if customers buy just a few things.

Major Truck Troubles & Stuck In Louisiana with Beignets
On this Airstream Life vLog, we head into New Orleans...or attempt to. On the way there we get an error message in the truck about the Exhaust system needing service and that our speed will be limited to 65mph in 99 miles. After looking it up it turns out after that 99 miles our speed will be limited to 45, and then even further down until we can only go 5mph. Yikes!
So we turn around and head back to Covington to talk to a GMC dealer and figure out what we are going to do. It turns out, after many phone calls, that it's going to take about a week to get the parts we need to resolve the issue. So we're staying!
Luckily Courtney is able to find a camp spot, directly across from the current one that is open for the next 8 days. So we get a rental car and move spots. Now we gotta make the most of being in Lousiana for longer than anticipated so we make a trip in the rental to Cafe Du Monde for the famous chicory coffee and beignets. Yum! Steve is a very happy man!
We're super bummed we had to cancel out time and our meetups in Tennessee and Huntsville. We will definitely have to visit those cities the next time we are in the area. For now, we are staying flexible, staying positive, and are focused on enjoying our extra time here while we wait to get back on the road.
