☆Bits of knowledge〜Otomeinari〜
OtomeInari Shrine is next to Nezu-jinja Shrine. Because there are many red toriis, it is famous.
Fushimi-Inari Taisha of Kyoto is the most famous, but similar scenery is seen only a little in Tokyo.

NEZU SHRINE and YANAKA GINZA - BEAUTIFUL OLD JAPAN
NEZU SHRINE and YANAKA GINZA - BEAUTIFUL OLD JAPAN
Visiting Nezu Shrine in the middle of Tokyo. A shrine known for the Azelea festival held from mid-April to mid-May. For a natural setting of old Japan this is worth the visit.
Next up is Yanaka Ginza, an old style Japan shopping street filled with souvenir, yakitori and vegetable shops. A great way to experience old yet modern culture in the middle of Tokyo.

'The Senbon Torii' in Nezu shrine 根津神社の『千本鳥居』
Nezu Shrine, a national important cultural property, remains in the original state that was established in 1706. The shrine boasts full bloom of about 3,000 azaleas of 200 varieties in early summer. The Otome Inari Shrine, found inside the shrine grounds. The Senbon Torii were constructed by people whose wishes were granted. By passing through them from north to south, it is said that any maliciousness plaguing you will be cleared away.

Nezu Shrine in TOKYO | INTOJAPAN
Let’s explore the Yanesen area made up by the Yanaka, Nezu, and Sendagi districts in Tokyo! The daily life of Edo townspeople and the scenic spots within this area inspired some of Utagawa Hiroshige’s ukiyo-e. Let’s follow in the footsteps of this artist to discover the Edo of Hiroshige’s time!
Let’s first take a peek at a popular and historic shrine in the area called Nezu Shrine. It was supposedly founded over 1,900 years ago in a slightly more northern location in Sendagi by Prince Osu, also known as Yamato Takeru, during the first century A.D. It was later relocated in the Edo period around the mid-17th century to its current location by the fifth Shogun. Nezu Shrine’s lush greenery and aged yet elegant structures last rebuilt in 1706 offer a nice getaway from the original downtown area of Edo.
Let’s take a closer look at some of the spots presented in the video.
1) Otome Inari Shrine - Nezu Shrine is known for its long torii gate-lined pathway leading to and from the smaller Otome Inari Shrine, which stands on a hillside and overlooks the pond and main shrine buildings.
2) North Entrance - This torii gate at the northern entrance marks the boundary to a sacred place. It is customary to bow before entering sacred grounds. The torii’s vermillion color stands in contrast to the surrounding greenery.
3) Azalea Garden - Another popular feature of Nezu Shrine is its garden with over 50 types of pink and white azalea. They bloom in spring and are celebrated with the Tsutsuji Matsuri (azalea festival) held annually in April and May.
4) Haiden and Sukibei - Nezu Shrine’s buildings are designed in the Gongen style and based off of Toshogu Shrine in Nikko. The Haiden (worship hall) and Sukibei (lattice-windowed wall) are typical of this style.

Nezu Jinja Shrine - Tokyo ᴴᴰ ● 根津神社 東京⎮Japan Travel Vlog
► Here's a look at the much overlooked Nezu Jinja - a Shinto buddhist Shrine in Eastern Tokyo. Often overshadowed by it's more famous cousins, Meiji Jingu and Senso-Ji, which is a shame, as Nezu Jinja is really beautiful in its own way, and somehow offers a more intimate atmosphere than most other temples and shrines around Tokyo.
If you're looking for a genuine classic Japan experience, at a place which isn't overcrowded with hordes of western tourists, then teh Nezu shrine is really the place to go. I spent 2 hours there, on a Satruday afternoon, and I didn't see any tourists apart from a couple of Chinese.
If you happen to be in Tokyo, I highly recommend a visit to this shrine. Easy access to Nezu Station by Chiyoda Line, Tokyo Metro. - Enjoy!

☆Bits of knowledge〜Nezu-Shrine〜
The Nezu-jinja Shrine is said to have been established over 1,900 years ago by the legendary priest Yamato Takeru no Mikoto in Sendagi with Susanoo no Mikoto as the chief deity. In the Edo Period (1603-1868), the 5th shogun Tsunayoshi relocated it from Sendagi to Nezu to commemorate the adoption of Ienobu as his successor and the 6th shogun Ienobu chose it as the guardian deity.

A Walk Through Nezu Shrine
IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT TURN ANNOTATIONS ON :D
I opted to keep original audio and keep it plain without a lot of fancy editing so you can experience the shrine how I experienced it.
Nezu Jinja in Bunkyou-Ku, Tokyo is my favourite shrine in the Tokyo area. My younger brother is studying Shinto shrines in his class so this is a semi-slow walk through of the Shrine showing what it looks like in real life. Interestingly there was a festival (it's pretty common, there's tons of festival. The day I was there was during Golden Week and it was children's day.)
Some informational links on shrines/nezu:
Nezu Shrine Azalea festival May 2012
Nezu shrine in Tokyo for their annual Azalea festival in May 2012

This is a wounderful trip
If you are looking for a Genuine “ class Japanes experience “at the palace which isn’t overcrowded with tourists , than Nezu Jinja is really the place to go. I spent 3hr there, on an early Sunday afternoon.
If you happen to be in Tokyo , I highly recommend a visit to this beautiful Shrine . Easy access to Nezu statin by Chiyoda line, Tokyo metro. Enjoy
Nezu Shrine 根津神社 The Azalea Festival - Tsutsuji Matsuri
Tsutsuji Matsuri - The azalea festival is happening now!
Nezu Shrine is one of Japan's oldest shrines, the current buildings dating back to 1706, it’s history stretching back way before, some say 2000 years.
The Shrine is set off by the hillside gardens that surround it and which are planted with over 3 thousand azalea bushes encompassing 100 species

Tokyo Day 5 | Park Hotel | Ikebukuro | Mimi Rabbit Cafe | Tokyo University | Sake Tasting
Hi, welcome back to Tokyo!
Today I headed from Osaka back to Tokyo and set up base in the Park Hotel, Tokyo in one of their fabulous artist rooms. We visited my brother at Tokyo University and explored a bit of the campus, visited a rabbit cafe in Ikebukuro and ended the night Sake tasting in a local pub. It was awesome.
I hope you enjoy!
