Paradise Ridge Winery in Santa Rosa
Paradise Ridge Winery in Santa Rosa is one of my favorite places to explore in the entire area. This winery is located on the top of a hill and has a fantastic view from the tasting room. It also is the home to more than two dozen massive sculptures, some of which were from Burning Man. You are free to walk through the sculpture gardens and even the small trail through the vineyard itself. Paradise Ridge Winery in Santa Rosa is a must visit and is one of the most fun wineries in California.

Located in the San Francisco Bay area in southeastern Sonoma County is the Valley considered the birthplace of the California wine industry. The Sonoma Valley runs from Santa Rosa in the north to the San Pablo Bay in the south. Formed between the Mayacamas Mountains and Sonoma Mountains, Sonoma Valley was home to the earliest California Vineyards which survived both the phylloxera epidemic of the 1870s and the effects of 20th century prohibition.
Today along with being the home to over 100 wineries, The Valley plays host to events year-round. Along with historic wineries Sonoma Valley encompasses many other historic sites including the Jack London State Historic Park which preserves the land that Jack London called home. Visiting the Sonoma Valley includes hot springs resorts, historical buildings, and the history of the settlement of California by the missionaries.
The vineyards of the Sonoma Valley are as varied as the tastes of its wine. Award winning wines from Sonoma are made in wineries that include castles, Mediterranean influenced villas, garden chateaus and modern lounges. Grand estates, quaint wine cellars and subterranean caves are all a part of the winery tour experience in Sonoma Valley.
A proper tour of the Sonoma Valley begins on the Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley. Whether you are a seasoned wine enthusiast, a novice, a sommelier or a history buff the Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley offers an informative overview of the valley during a fun, friendly, relaxing, care free day.
The Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley is a six-hour adventure aboard a replica California cable car. Your hand-built cable car is based on the original blueprints from the San Francisco cable cars that were in operation from the 1890s through the 1930s. It is an all wooden carriage detailed right down to the brass bell. The modern conveniences of the day have been added including a state-of-the-art sound system and PA, along with connections for iPod and iPhone. The Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley is an open-air cable car that lets you experience a panoramic view as you visit four of the world class wineries of The Valley.
Your conductor on the guided Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley will explain the history, legacies, and folklore as you travel the green valley from vineyard to vineyard. The Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley is a group friendly event that encourages making new friends along the way.
The day on the Wine Trolley includes a catered picnic lunch prepared by the Girl & the Fig Restaurant, noted for their country French cuisine, a visit to four selected wineries for a taste of the treasures of Sonoma and a day of knowledgeable adventure. The Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley departs from Sonoma Plaza at 10:30 AM and returns at 4:30 PM. You must be 21 years old to purchase a ticket for the exclusive wine tasting adventures aboard the Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley.

FIRE ON THE RIDGE - Proof of Concept - GOLDEN EAGLE FILMS
CAMP FIRE SURVIVORS ARE TELLING THEIR OWN STORY IN A MOVIE – FIRE ON THE RIDGE
Fire on the Ridge has been produced as a Proof of Concept for a proposed feature film about the Camp Fire which occurred on November 8th, 2018 in Butte County, California. Local film-maker Golden Eagle Films worked with other residents in the affected area to produce the Fire on the Ridge Proof of Concept short. Many of the cast and crew of Fire on the Ridge are Camp Fire survivors and several act in the retelling of their own stories. This has been a monumental and life changing experience in so many ways. We the people of Butte County have been exposed to millions of viewers around the world via renowned media such as 60 minutes, Frontline, Nova, PBS etc. Now we need to tell our own stories, the way they really happened and through the eyes of our own pain and loss. We the people of Butte County must have a voice: finally our own.
Producer / Directors Nancy Hamilton and Desiree De Anda of Golden Eagle Films have released this 13 minute “Proof of Concept” in which both professional actors and Camp Fire survivors tell their own, real-life stories through re-enacting the scenes that destroyed nearly 19,000 buildings, caused 86 deaths and left 52,000 people fleeing for their lives during the most destructive wildfire in Californian history.
Director Nancy Hamilton states: We as locals want to tell our own stories, the real stories, about exactly what happened on November 8th, 2019.
Golden Eagle Films has already produced two documentaries about the fire, The Camp Fire Documentary (available on YouTube) and a follow-up documentary, Scattered in the Ashes to be released in August, 2019.
Hamilton continues: You can’t even imagine the hell it was unless you lived through it. We’re telling our own stories about the Camp Fire and while we’ll enlist the help of professional actors many of the Cast and Crew of FIRE ON THE RIDGE are the actual individuals that experienced the inferno first hand.
This is our story and we want to tell it our way, the way it really happened, says Hamilton and De Anda, both award-winning producers of Independent films with over 50 International Awards.
The production company has released this 13 minute “Proof of Concept” for FIRE ON THE RIDGE on their website and social media today. The Proof of Concept gives both producers and viewers the opportunity to see the possible progression and emotional content involved in such a film before actual production begins.

Exotic Mountaintop Estate. California's San Diego County, USA - Unravel Travel TV
Exotic, mountaintop estate in California's San Diego County will be sold at a live Auction on September 19, 2015 by Platinum Luxury Auctions. Recently offered for $12.5 million, the property will be sold to the highest bidder who meets or exceeds the auction's $5 million reserve price. Listing agent K. Ann Brizolis of Pacific Sotheby's International Realty is the cooperating listing agent for the sale
The mountaintop estate is one of the most unique and intriguing homes in all of San Diego County. Perched atop Paint Mountain on more than 18 acres, the Property offers striking, 360-degree views of Southern California, with vistas stretching all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Sunsets are especially spectacular when viewed from one of the estate’s many terraces, or while soaking in the one-of-a-kind lap pool. The mansion’s unique design was custom-created by its original owner, a wealthy inventor, investor, and physician. Materials and craftsmen were imported from all over the world to produce the sprawling residential structure. In fact, the development of the estate became quite a local attraction, with random visitors constantly driving onto the project site just to capture a peak of the work in progress.
An immense, 288,000-gallon lap pool is perhaps the residence’s most striking feature, as it runs through the property’s central courtyard and out towards its back lawn, where it seems to disappear over the edge of the mountain. It is purported to be one of the longest residential pools in the world. Massive walls of glass, unique water features, and a striking central courtyard with a pool and spa allows for a seamless integration between the estate’s indoor and outdoor living spaces. Many features of the home seem well beyond their time, such as 10-ft by 10ft doors that gently swing open on special, hidden hinges, and oversized, electronically controlled sliding glass doors that open the main level’s hallways to the central courtyard.
The tri-level estate offers more than 23,000 interior sq. ft., with 8 bedrooms, 9 full and 2 half baths. The master suite alone measures 4,300 sq. ft., and opens to a large, rooftop terrace. There is also a separate guesthouse, which adds 2 beds, 2 full baths and approximately 1,200 sq. ft. of living space, an ideal location for on-site staff. (Note: The guesthouse is presently unfinished). Additional features of the mansion include two living rooms, a game/media parlor, formal dining room with glass walls and a revolving floor (designed to allow all dinner guests to enjoy the panoramic views during their meal), a dedicated theatre, fitness center, executive office, and sauna. The commercial-grade kitchen includes a Teppanyaki station, Viking and Wolf appliances, and a separate prep room. There is also a wine cellar and a garage capable of accommodating more than 20 cars.
In addition to it’s incredible pool, the estate’s water features include two, 900-gallon salt-water aquariums, gentle stone “wall waterfalls,” and various koi pools. There is even a custom rock waterslide that slopes down the edge of the mountain, terminating in a small plunge pool. Other outdoor features include a gated entry, circular driveway with porte-cochere, and a private jogging path that encircles the estate.
Elfin Forest is an unincorporated community in the foothills of San Diego County’s Santa Rosa Mountains. It is bordered on the south by Rancho Santa Fe (the Property is in fact located within the Rancho Santa Fe school district). A rural area comprised of large homes and estates on multi-acre parcels, Elfin Forest offers many rolling hills and trails. The area is also home to the Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve, a 784-acre reserve with 11 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, in addition to many beautiful spots for picnics, or simply taking in the mountain views.

CALIFORNIA FIRES SANTA ROSA, SONOMA, NAPA
The latest fire news
Sonoma County officials say 102,000 residents were displaced this weekend by fires still burning in Sonoma County, some with no homes to return to and others merely evacuated for safety reasons. Several evacuations were lifted late Sunday.
Just more than 1,850 people stayed in official evacuation centers overnight Saturday, and many other fire victims and evacuees appear to have found lodging with friends or family, or in hotels.

Santa Rosa Fire Before & After - Coffey Park & Fountaingrove - 4k Aerial Drone Footage
Before and after footage of the Tubbs Fire in Santa Rosa, California.
In April 2017 I captured footage of Coffey Park and Fountaingrove Round Barn in Santa Rosa. After the fires I went back and filmed the same shots I had taken before. I was born and raised here in Sonoma County. I spent many years playing with friends and having sleepovers in Coffey Park. Still hard to wrap my head around the scope of so much destruction. Both Coffey Park and The Round Barn were completely lost to the fires that ravaged Sonoma County in October 2017.

About the fires:
On October 8th, 2017, around 9:45 p.m, a fire broke out near Tubbs Lane in Calistoga California. Pushed by strong winds, the front of the fire moved more than twelve miles in its first three hours. The Mark West Springs area, north of Santa Rosa, was directly in the path of the fire.
By 1 a.m. the fire had reached Santa Rosa city limits. It quickly moved into the Fountaingrove area and burned hundreds of homes as well as many other structures. The historic Fountaingrove Inn, the Fountaingrove Round Barn, and a large Hilton hotel were destroyed. Nearly all of the 160 units at the Journey's End mobile home park were turned to rubble.
At about 1:30 a.m., Sonoma County officials began to evacuate neighborhoods in and around Santa Rosa.
By about 2 a.m., the fire, carried by near hurricane-level winds, had spread further to the west, crossing Highway 101. By 4:30 a.m., the winds had reached their peak speed of more than 60 miles per hour. Quickly the fire spread to the Coffey Park neighborhood, where it leveled most of the area. An estimated 1,300 structures were destroyed. Other damage along several streets bordering Highway 101 included a Kmart store and numerous restaurants that burned to the ground.
By noon the next day, two medical centers in Santa Rosa, Kaiser Permanente and Sutter Health, had been evacuated. Some Kaiser employees reported using their personal vehicles to evacuate some of the 130 patients at that hospital.
Other damage included the complete loss of a senior living complex, Oakmont of Villa Capri; Hidden Valley Satellite, a primary school; and the Santa Rosa portion of Paradise Ridge Winery. The Cardinal Newman High School campus was badly damaged, as was one end of the Luther Burbank Center for the Performing Arts. Redwood Adventist Academy was also lost in the fire. Nearly 500 homes in the Larkfield-Wikiup area, were completely destroyed.
By October 14, fires had burned more than 210,000 acres while forcing 90,000 people to evacuate from their homes. The Northern California fires killed at least 44 people and hospitalized at least 185, making the week of October 8, 2017, the deadliest week of wildfires in California history. Collectively, the event constitutes the largest loss of life due to wildfires in the United States since the Cloquet Fire in 1918. In total, an estimated 8,900 structures were destroyed and at least $9.4 billion dollars in damages lost.
