San Clemente's 4-mile coastline is divided into a number of popular beaches, including North Beach, San Clemente City Beach, and San Clemente State Beach.
Along most of their length the narrow beaches are guarded by high bluffs, interrupted by an occasional ravine. Running along the edge of the beach at the foot of the bluffs is a railroad line. With the combination of precipitous bluffs and the railroad tracks, safe access to the beaches is limited to a number of key places.
San Clemente Pier is at the heart of the city beach. Near the pier is a railway station, making it convenient for passengers to hop off a train and be on the beach with just a few steps.
Bars And Beaches Part 4 San Clemente California
Our next stop was to San Clemente Pier and beach. It has spectacular ocean views and a wonderful restaurant and bar, The Fisherman's Restaurant & Bar, located at the entrance of the pier. The beach is sandy and the surf is great. T-Street beach at the south end is a favorite surfing spot with the locals. The railroad tracks run parallel to the beach and even has stop right at the pier.
This pier is a little less than 1300 ft long and is a wooden pier originally built in 1928 and rebuilt a couple of more times due to storm damage.
San Clemente State Beach also has RV camping year round. Here is the official website:
Things to do at San Clemente Pier
One of the coolest spots in San Clemente is the San Clemente Pier. If you're visiting or on vacation this is a must see! A few of the things that we routinely do as a couple are take walks to the end of the pier and watch the sunset, go to Fisherman's for either brunch or happy hour. Happy hour is great at Fisherman's they have a great menu and Specialty drinks which change up nightly and do not break the bank. Sundays are awesome for brunch at Fisherman's especially if you'd like to have a bottle of champagne, if you buy a breakfast they are only $8. There's also the option of taking the Metrolink or Amtrak. Make sure to check out the schedule online. Sometimes they are running late or only pick up in North Beach. If I was to give advice on the perfect day for a couple in San Clemente this is how it would go. First, go down to the beach spend a few hours laying in the Sun working on your tan and maybe even go for a swim. During happy hour time which is 4 to 6 head on up to Fisherman's, grab a drink and a small bite to eat which is very inexpensive. After that, you have to catch the sunset so take a walk out to the end of the pier and enjoy. You can also stay at Fisherman's and have another drink and enjoy the sunset from the patio

San Clemente Pier - Dec 24 2015
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all. This is my yearly stroll on the beach at the pier on December twenty-fourth each year. Just to remind me how wonderful this life is. Taking time to jog on San Clemente's beach trail or just strolling on the pier to get a closeup of the surfers catching a wave.

San Clemente Pier - San Clemente, CA
Here is the beautiful San Clemente Pier on a windy summer afternoon in the city of San Clemente, California! The gorgeous 1290 ft wood pier was originally built in the late 1920's and still is a hot spot for tourists, locals, and of course fishermen!
San Clemente CA State Beach Camping
San Clemente State Beach is located at the south end of the city of San Clemente, California. The area around San Clemente is known for its ocean, hill, and mountain views, a pleasant climate and its Spanish Colonial style architecture. The city slogan is Spanish Village by the Sea. Visitors are attracted to the San Clemente area for its intense winds and dramatic location. San Clemente has been a California state beach since 1937 and is popular among water sport enthusiasts, and anyone who wishes to escape from inland heat and nearby metropolitan areas for the day. San Clemente Pier - Metrolink Beach Train | California Travel Tips
In today's episode of California Travel Tips, we hop on the Metrolink Beach Train for a day at San Clemente Pier. San Clemente is one of Southern California's most accessible beaches, thanks to the Amtrak station that sits literally right on the sand. A weekend Metrolink pass is just $10, which is a really awesome deal considering the price of gas these days.
Located just south of Dana Point and north of Oceanside, San Clemente is one of California's best surfing spots — home to legendary swells at places like Trestles, T-Street and Lost Winds.
When you arrive, head to Fisherman's Restaurant — one of the best restaurants in San Clemente Pier for a Bloody Mary (with a view!) — or snag one of the straw palapas on the south side of the Pier for a day of swimming and sunbathing. The Beach Garden Cafe, located just across the street from the Metrolink San Clemente station, serves up some of the best clam chowder in town.
Ready to get active? The 2.3-mile San Clemente Beach Trail is a great place to jog or cycle — stretching from North Beach above the pier down to San Clemente State Beach Park. If you're up for a longer ride, you can take it all the way up to the Ocean Institute in Dana Point.
With an average year-round temperature of about 70 degrees, San Clemente weather is great no matter when you visit. In October, the city hosts its popular SeaFest — featuring surfing competitions and clam chowder contests along The Pier.
Metrolink Beach Train Rules:
It's OK to bring beach chairs, beach toys, beach umbrellas, towels, small pets in carriers, boogie boards, bicycles, fishing poles, ice chests, and strollers. No surfboards are allowed on the train, but there are plenty of places to get surfboard rentals in San Clemente. T Patterson Surf Shop (949-366-2022) and Terry Senate Surfboards (949-361-1740) are closest to the pier, and less than 1 mile from the San Clemente Metrolink Station.
