Bicycle ride at Sawyer Camp Trail - Crystal Springs Reservoir, San Mateo, Burlingame, Millbrae
The southern entrance for the Camp Sawyer Trail is located at the intersection of Crystal Springs Rd and Skyline Blvd. It is off the Black Mountain Road exit on 280. The northern entrance to the trail is located at the end of Hillcrest Blvd and Skyline Blvd off the Millbrae exit on 280. There is plenty of parking on the weekdays. On the weekends you might have to walk a little. This is an easy flat 6 mile trail with a small 1 mile incline on the northern end of the trail. There are a lot of pot holes and not ideal for a road bike. A mountain bike would handle the cracks better.

San Mateo Creek Valley and Camp Pendleton at San Onofre State Beach
On the border between San Diego and Orange Counties, this is the view looking down on the San Mateo Creek valley before it empties into the Pacific Ocean. Also, looking north, one can see the San Mateo Campground area of the San Onofre State Beach. Looking east and southeast, the houses and buildings you see are actually inside the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base. The freeway is Interstate 5 as it goes between Oceanside California and San Clemente California and the bridge over San Mateo Creek. facebook.com/rishayan

A Ride on the San Francisco Bay Trail
We parked the car alongside the trail in San Mateo and first rode south into Foster City; after about a half hour we turned around to ride north in the San Francisco direction. We exited the trail at Seal Point Park to ride into San Mateo for lunch. This trail is wonderfully refreshing when it is hot in the interior valley where we live.

The San Andreas Fault ~ Natural Beauty Masks Hidden Dangers
The San Andreas Fault is the world's longest earthquake fault, stretching more than 800 miles through California, into the Pacific Ocean. I recorded this video while walking along The Sawyer Camp Trail, a San Mateo County Park. The deer in this video are a prime example of hidden dangers amidst the natural beauty of this area of the San Andreas Fault. Anytime you can see deer in this area, you can be certain that mountain lions are also in the immediate vicinity. This is mountain lion territory and deer are the main source of food for mountain lions. Hikers are warned never to walk alone on The Sawyer Camp Trail, as well as on all San Mateo County Park Trails.
