Building a Better St. Louis - Ballpark Village Phase 2
The St. Louis Cardinals and The Cordish Companies recently broke ground on the $260 million second phase of Ballpark Village, a dynamic 700,000 square foot mixed-use expansion project that will complete a full build-out of Clark Street, transforming it into one of the most exciting streets in all of professional sports.
New buildings will be built on both the east and west sides of the existing Phase 1 development. A new street will emerge, running from 8th Street to Broadway, and be called Cardinal Way. On the east end of Cardinal Way will be a 29-story luxury residential tower called One Cardinal Way. On the west end will be the first new construction Class A-Office Building in downtown in over a generation, anchored by PricewaterhouseCoopers, and an upscale convention hotel, Live! By Loews – St. Louis, MO. In addition, a three-story retail pavilion just north of the existing Busch II Infield and Event Plaza will connect everything together. This spectacular glass pavilion will be anchored by the 31,000 square foot Onelife Fitness, a nationally recognized, state-of-the-art health and fitness club.
The first phase of Ballpark Village has played a pivotal role in the revitalization of downtown since opening in 2014, creating more than 1,000 construction jobs and 1,700 new permanent jobs when it opened. The second phase of Ballpark Village stands to create 1,500 construction jobs and more than 1,000 new permanent jobs.
Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis - St. Louis Missouri: Video Tour
Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis - St. Louis Missouri, USA: Video Tour.
(Saint Louis Cathedral). Enjoy...
The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis, also known as the Saint Louis Cathedral, is a cathedral of the Roman Catholic Church located in the Central West End area of St. Louis, Missouri. Completed in 1914, it is the mother church of the Archdiocese of St. Louis and the seat of its archbishop, currently Robert James Carlson. The cathedral is named for Saint Louis and was designated a basilica by Pope John Paul II in 1997.
The cathedral was built as a replacement for the previous Cathedral of St. Louis located along the Mississippi River. Although workers began clearing ground for the building on May 1, 1907, dedication of the Cathedral and its first mass did not take place until October 18, 1914, when the superstructure was complete. Consecration of the church took place more than a decade later on June 29, 1926. The church is known for its large mosaic installation (which is one of the largest in the Western Hemisphere), burial crypts, and the addition of an outdoor sculpture to promote racial harmony.

Chicago, Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri
Two American Midwestern cities just 260 miles (418 km) apart, although if you’ve seen Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, you’d think they were a lot further away than that.
Wait, why I am comparing these two cities? Why not Chicago and Houston? Or St. Louis and Kansas City? Doesn’t that make more sense.
Well kind of. But I’m comparing Chicago and St. Louis because those two cities were once in direct competition to become the biggest and most important city in the Midwest. I’m making this video in collaboration with Dave from the channel City Beautiful. On his channel, he has a video explaining why and how Chicago beat out St. Louis to indeed become THE biggest, most important Midwestern city. Be sure to check it out after you’re done watching this one.
Once upon a time, it was actually St. Louis that appeared to be destined to become the biggest, most important American Midwestern city. First of all, St. Louis is older than Chicago. It was founded by the French in 1764, after they lost the Seven Years’ War. Basically, French settlers fled there from the east after the British took over their former territory. For its first 38 years, St. Louis was under Spanish control. So while the French lived there, the Spanish guarded the town during that time. In those early years, St. Louis established itself as a major fur trading center. In 1803, when it had maybe 1,000 people living there, the United States bought Louisiana from France after it briefly took it back over. St. Louis, being in Louisiana, was now an American city, and became the administrative capital of all of Louisiana Territory. After Lewis and Clark left St. Louis exploring this vast territory, others would follow, and the city became a hub for folks on their way out to the “Wild West.”
St. Louis steadily grew, it’s population nearing 5,000 by 1830. In 1833, when St. Louis was 69 years old, Chicago was finally born. I mean, St. Louis was a creepy old man by the time Chicago came around. While St. Louis was mostly a fur trading hub, Chicago quickly became a transportation hub, a way to connect the east, where most Americans lived, to the west. It was the site of the Illinois and Michigan Canal, completed in 1848 to connect the Great Lakes to the Mississippi River. After a couple decades, it became the most important railroad city in the country.
The Gateway Arch in St. Louis, MO
A short tour around the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, MO. We took the elevator right to the top to have a great view over the river and city then we visited the museum at the base.
The Gateway Arch, also known as the Gateway to the West, is part of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial in St. Louis, Missouri. Built as a monument to the westward expansion of the United States, it has become the city's iconic image. It was designed by architect Eero Saarinen and structural engineer Hannskarl Bandel in 1947. It is 630 feet (192 m) wide at its base and stands 630 feet (192 m) tall, making it the tallest monument in the United States, Construction started on February 12, 1963, and ended on October 28, 1965. It is the tallest habitable structure in Missouri. The monument opened to the public on July 10, 1967
We stopped off here during our three week tour of Route 66.

MISSOURI BOTANICAL GARDENS-ST LOUIS,MO-BETTER THAN GARDEN OF VERSAILLES?-EP25
While in St Louis, MO, we spent a day at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. I dragged Mark along. This is probably the best botanical garden in the US that we've seen so far. It was better for us than the Gardens of Versailles. It was impeccably maintained. Since it's only 80 acres, every single square foot is beautiful!! Versailles is 1950 acres, and just wears you down. By the time we left, Mark admitted he liked how we spent the day. I hope it wasn't just because of the cookie at lunch,.....

Official “Circles” Lyrics
We couldn’t turn around
Til we were upside down
I’ll be the bad guy now
But know I ain’t too proud
I couldn’t be there
Even when I tried
You don’t believe it
We do this every time
Seasons change and our love went cold
Feed the flame because we can’t let go
Runaway but we’re running in circles
Runaway, runaway
I dare you to do something
I’m waiting on you again
So I don’t take the blame
Runaway but we’re running in circles
Runaway, runaway, runaway
Let go
I got a feeling that it’s time to let go
I said so
I knew that this was doomed from the get go
You thought that it was special, special
But it was just the sex though, the sex though
And I still hear the echoes, the echoes
I got a feeling that it’s time to let it go
Let it go
Seasons change and our love went cold
Feed the flame because we can’t let go
Runaway but we’re running in circles
Runaway, runaway
I dare you to do something
I’m waiting on you again
So I don’t take the blame
Runaway but we’re running in circles
Runaway, runaway, runaway
Maybe you don’t understand what I’m going thru
It’s only me, what you got to lose
Make up your mind, tell me what are you gonna do
It’s only me, let it go
Seasons change and our love went cold
Feed the flame because we can’t let go
Runaway but we’re running in circles
Runaway, runaway
I dare you to do something
I’m waiting on you again
So I don’t take the blame
Runaway but we’re running in circles
Runaway, runaway, runaway
