Just Opened Trail! - Mountain Biking The House Creek Greenway Trail Raleigh NC -- August 26th, 2012

Biking on the newly open section of the House Creek Trail from Glen Eden Drive to the Pedestrian Bridge crossing I-440 in Raleigh. This was a 2.9 Mile total section from Crabtree Creek Trail to the I-440 Pedestrian Bridge Crossing, a $3.8M construction. This was scheduled to be fully opened in Mid Sept. the fence was removed from the Glen Eden Drive underpass on Sunday, looked open to me I rode it! Still have orange barrels, fencing and the 2nd bridge has remaining wood yet to be removed. Has 2 Pedestrian underpasses Glen Eden Drive and Lake Boone. Can now ride on trails from Shelly Lake - Lynn Road to the Art Museum, into Umstead Park. Also to Meredith College, NCSU, downtown Raleigh or into Centennial Campus. Thank you Parks and Recreation great addition to all the bike riders, walkers and runners! The Bike my favorite, 2002 Raleigh Mountain Sport M80.

Boone is a town located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, United States. Boone's population was 17,122 in 2010. Boone is the county seat of Watauga County and the home of Appalachian State University. The town is named for famous American pioneer and explorer Daniel Boone, and every summer since 1952 has hosted an outdoor amphitheatre drama, Horn in the West, portraying the British settlement of the area during the American Revolutionary War and featuring the contributions of its namesake. It is the largest community and the economic hub of the seven-county region of Western North Carolina known as the High Country.
In 2012, Boone was listed among the 10 best places to retire in the U.S. by U.S. News.[5]Hardin Street) to east of N.C. 194 (Jefferson Road), including a new entrance and exit to the new Watauga High School, at a cost of $16.2 million.[18] The widening has displaced 25 businesses and 63 residences east of historic downtown King Street.[19] The project was slated to be completed by December 31, 2011, but construction continued into the spring of 2012.

All American Trail (Fort Bragg, NC)

The All American Trail is in the Carolina Sandhills region of North Carolina near Fort Bragg. This public-use trail runs east-west for about 12 miles through some rugged hilly and sandy terrain. This area of North Carolina is very unique, geologically. Tall pines dominate the landscape and with all of the sand, you might wonder why the ocean is still a hundred miles away from here. On this day we ride about 4 miles to and from the Rockfish Creek boardwalk from the Plank Rd. trailhead. The trail is more suitable for mountain bikes, but hybrids will work. After almost two months of not riding my bike, I did a little exploring and found these two downhill tracks right off the Greenway in Boone, NC. They are highly addictive and would 10/10 recommend if you don't feel like driving to Rocky Knob or Pisgah.
