Tour Of Bossiney Cove Beach, Tintagel, Cornwall, Uk
A Virtual Tour Of Bossiney cove Tintagel, Cornwall, Uk, this is a very quite little beach with not that many people around, this is my first of many video's in and around Cornwall, The cliff walks link up this beach from both Tintagel Castle and Bostcastle. I hope you enjoy what you see, this beach is in a little cove called Bossiney at the end of the village Tintagel on the way to Boscastle, you need to check the tides times before going because if the tide is in the beach will not be there for you to enjoy. If Surfing cornwall is what you are looking for, waves can get really big here when surf is up around 2-4ft giving long rides with nice Big barrels. You can spot really rare birds who nest in the cliffs, walk your dog's, enjoy rock pooling with the kids, enter the caves where the pirates once stored the rum. it's a really nice day out. Your feedback and comments are more than welcome, maybe you would like to share your visit !

Foundational Work : Church Missionary Society
Ladies College Colombo was founded as a self supporting institution in 1900 by Lilian Nixon from Ireland and Ms Elizabeth Whitney from Canada at the behest of the Church Missionary Society. The history of the school is woven round the seven principals of the college who were responsible for its founding, expansion and ethos. There is no doubt it was due to their Christian faith and commitment that Ladies College grew from a rented bungalow in Slave Island with two students to what it is today.
Despite starting off with just two students, with great vision and expectations for this school, Principal Lilian Nixon named it ''CMS Ladies’ College Colombo'', after her own school. The motto and crest (St Patrick’s shield of faith) she designed for the school was evidence of that faith. Lilian Nixon was a devout Christian with a strong belief in the primacy of Christianity whilst she establishing a tradition of openness and religious and ethnic warmth that has remained despite the changing pressures of the passing years.
The Christian purpose namely a high standard of education for women for which the College had been founded would best be fulfilled. The efforts to mitigate the evils of division inherent in teaching in three languages in a multi racial school, have proved effective. The fellowship engendered in Ladies’ College remained unbroken. During the many ethnic riots only friendliness, co-operation and helpfulness were shown among pupils, staff and servants. We remained “one family unbroken”.
Principal Gwen Opie’s most cherished dream for Ladies’ College was realized when the Chapel of the Hope of the World was built in 1933. She saw it as the central focus of the life of the school, a reminder of the God she served and source of all that was ‘truly and lovely and of good report’ where hundreds raise their voices in praise of their Maker.
The Chapel of the Hope of the World bears witness to the victorious faith upon which the school is founded. It has been a solace for the lost and weary. It has been a strength to many. “The chapel is our corner stone which enshrines our faith”.
Morning devotion has been a practice from the time the chapel was built. On the first Monday of the month a service of Holy Communion is conducted by the Chaplain.
The Christian children entering Grade I (main school) are blessed by the Bishop of Colombo and the Valedictory service is held for school leavers in July.
Other annual events in the chapel are the Founders’ Day celebrations in February with the School service and OGA services, Ash Wednesday service, Confirmation service, and the Carol Service. The Easter and Harvest Festival services are held for the Nursery and Kindergarten. Marriage services for Old Girls are also held in the chapel on request.
The building that was perhaps the most inspirational is the College Chapel . Built on the faith of a previous generation this enchanting building demystified religion for us through our own participation. We sang familiar hymns, watched the versatility of the choir mistress’ face, and found comfort in the warmth and simplicity of the chapel built for children. We learned not the fear of God but the solidarity of our own little community that was bound by a simple morning ritual. We anticipated promotion from the tiny pews to large chairs at the back while our dog eared hymn books filled with interesting cards and pictures provided silent entertainment during lengthy sermons. We trod the pathway to and from the chapel each morning with that extra special effort at silence. I can almost feel the stucco those pinkish colour walls and see above us shapes of suspended angels.
The bomb blast in 1991 was a catastrophe of great magnitude as it resulted in damage to many buildings especially the chapel and nursery. With courage and “empowered and protected by the love of God and God alone” Principal Sirancee Gunawardana she ensured that in record time normalcy returned and the catastrophe was put behind us. In 1993 the swimming pool (the only girls’ school in Colombo to have a pool at that time) was built. She introduced IT and the London A level classes long before any other schools had even thought of it. A multi media centre was incorporated in the Gunawardana block which was built in 1995 and named after her in 1998.

Places to see in ( St Just - UK )
Places to see in ( St Just - UK )
St Just is a town and civil parish in the Penwith district of Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It lies along the B3306 road which connects St Ives to the A30 road. The parish encompasses the town of St Just and the nearby settlements of Trewellard, Pendeen and Kelynack: it is bounded by the parishes of Morvah to the north-east, Sancreed and Madron to the east, St Buryan and Sennen to the south and by the sea in the west.
The town of St Just is the most westerly town in mainland Britain and is situated approximately 8 miles (13 km) west of Penzance along the A3071. St Just parish, which includes Pendeen and the surrounding area. St Just lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Almost a third of Cornwall has AONB designation, with the same status and protection as a National Park. St Just is one of only two towns included within the Cornwall AONB.
The identity of Saint Just is not known. Cornwall's long resistance to the edicts of Canterbury and Rome makes it most unlikely that the saint was Archbishop Justus of Canterbury, as some sources claim.[citation needed] Another possibility is the 6th- or 7th-century Saint Iestyn, said to be the son of a ruler of Dumnonia.
Among the prehistoric antiquities nearby is Ballowall Barrow, a chambered tomb. St Just is one of the most ancient mining districts in Cornwall, and remains of ancient pre-industrial and more modern mining activity have had a considerable impact on the nearby landscape.
The parish church of St Just is a fine 15th-century building. In 1336 the church was rebuilt and dedicated by John Grandisson, Bishop of Exeter; however only the chancel of this church survives and the nave and aisles are 15th-century in date. There are two Methodist chapels. St Just is the home of Cape Cornwall School which also serves Sennen, Sancreed, Pendeen, St Buryan and other places in the district.
St Just is home to the popular Lafrowda festival a seven-day community and arts celebration usually held in Mid July. A more ancient celebration associated with the town is St Just Feast which is held every year to celebrate the dedication of the parish church in 13 July 1336. Feast celebrations were moved to the Sunday nearest to All Saints' Day in 1536 following an Act of Henry VIII which means it usually take place at the end of October / beginning of November. Feast itself is a two-day event with a church service and civic procession being held on Feast Sunday and a larger scale popular celebration being held on Feast Monday (which includes a meeting of the Western Hunt). A description of St Just Feast
St Just also has a 'Plen an Gwarry' (Cornish for playing place), locally pronounced 'Plain an Gwarry'. These sites were used historically for open-air performance, entertainment and instruction. St Just's Plen an Gwarry occasionally hosts productions of the Cornish Ordinalia mystery plays. St Just has a healthy artistic scene, including the painter Kurt Jackson who has made several television appearances. Contemporary singer and comedian Jethro from nearby St Buryan played for St Just Rugby Club and has recorded a song entitled St Just.
( St Just - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of St Just . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in St Just - UK
