Spring time in Japan is a great time to visit. Many things are happening around this time like Sakura season, blooming Azaleas and of course many festivals.
Today I visit Nezu Shrine again for the opening of the blooming Azaleas festival and head on over to Tokyo University to visit the 2nd memorial of Hachiko and Dr. Ueno statue. The 1st statue is in Shibuya gauarding over the station area and is a very popular meeting place.
After 80 years, the beloved Hachiko has been reunited with his master at the University of Tokyo in Bunkyo Ward. A national symbol of family loyalty, this is the second bronze statue erected in Tokyo to commemorate the bond between the Akita and Professor. On March 9, 2015, the 80th death anniversary of Hachiko, a second bronze statue was erected.

Cherry (Sakura) Blossoms in Tokyo
As winter drags on, it begins to seem that the dark and cold days will never end. In Japan, when the plum trees blossom, it is an early promise of warmer weather ahead. This promise is fulfilled when the cherry trees—sakura—burst into flower. People head outdoors to enjoy the breathtaking sight of entire stretches of road and expanses of park and riverside dyed pink and white. The blossoms reach their peak and then just as quickly flutter to earth, creating a swirling rain of springtime color and ushering in the warmth of spring.
In Tokyo, which declared the cherry season open as of March 22, some of the best places for cherry blossom viewing—hanami, in Japanese—are in Ueno Park (although this tends to be crowded), at Chidori-ga-fuchi, in Sumida Park (as shown in the above video, showing scenes from the cherry season in 2016), and near Edogawa Park just down the hill from the St. Mary Cathedral in Bunkyo Ward. Some people also enjoy visiting the Somei Cemetery, which lies just beside the place where the popular Somei Yoshino variety of cherry trees was first developed.
But other places in Japan are famous for cherry blossoms, too. Yoshino, near Nara, has been immortalized by poets for a thousand years. Many of the poems of Saigyo sing of the beauty of Yoshino’s cherry blossoms. Yoshino is so famous that it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Matsuyama, on Shikoku Island, is also a good cherry-viewing city, as is Sendai in the Tohoku Region and Sapporo on the northern island of Hokkaido.
To view the cherry blossoms is not just to undertake an aesthetic or botanic investigation. Indeed, the very fleetingness of the cherry blossom season has often been associated by the Japanese people with the fragility of happiness and of life itself. There is a poignant sadness in the beauty of the cherry blossoms falling. Why not welcome the arrival of spring in grand fashion and learn more about life in Japan by joining some Japanese friends under the boughs of a cherry tree?

Ueno Park (上野公園 Ueno Kōen?) is a spacious public park in the Ueno district of Taitō, Tokyo, Japan. The park was established in 1873 on lands formerly belonging to the temple of Kan'ei-ji. More info visit:

アメ横で探し物があったので、湯島天神から不忍池を通り抜けて上野へと歩く。
冬枯れした蓮池のメランコリックな趣にかなり惹かれるものを感じました。
The Shinobazu Pond (不忍池 Shinobazu no Ike) is a pond within Ueno Park (a spacious public park located in the Ueno section of Taitō, Tokyo, Japan), and a historically prominent Shitamachi feature often appearing in history and works of art. The park occupies the site of the former Kan'ei-ji, a temple closely associated with the Tokugawa shoguns, who had built it to guard Edo Castle against the northeast, a direction believed to be unlucky by traditional geomancy. The temple was destroyed during the Boshin War. The pond, although modified many times and even once drained, is natural. (from Wikipedia)

Most beautiful temple in Tokyo, Japan: Kan-eiji Temple Kaizando, 寛永寺開山堂両大師堂
The temple is located next to the Tokyo National Museum at Ueno Park. There are several temples and shrines located in this park, but I think one is the most beautiful and unknown.
A must see for everybody visiting Tokyo

Part 2 of this video is available here :
Massive...this is how we could best describe the sheer size (534,000m2) and the many attractions to be found in this park. Established in 1873, Ueno Park is among Japan’s first public parks and home of some major museums like the Tokyo National Museum, National Science Museum, Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, National Museum of Western Art, Shitamachi Museum, several temples and even a zoo!
It would be impossible to cover all aspects of this park in a single day, so we decided to divide our attention on the cultural aspects of this park and its temples with the following:
- Kiyomizu Kannon Temple (Part 1)
- Hanazono inari Temple (Part 1)
- Gojoten Temple (Part 1)
- Toshogu Shrine (Part 2)
- Ueno Park Pagoda (Part 2)
- Bentendo Temple and the Shinobazu Pond (Part 2)
While these temples and places are on the Ueno Park “Must See” list, we would also recommend visiting:
- Kaneiji Temple
- Ueno Daibutsu
Kiyomizu Kannon Temple:
Originally built in 1631 and part of the Kaneji temple, the Kiyomizu Kannon Temple get it’s design and architecture from the famous Kiyomizu-dera temple in Kyoto and is also home to an image of Kosodate Kannon (Goddess of child-rearing) and a figure of Senju Kannon (Thousand Armed Goddess of Mercy).
Gojoten and Hanazono inari Temple:
A few meters away from the Kiyomizu Kannon you will find both the Gojoten and Hanazono inari Temples, the Fox Temple. Both temples are actually close to each other and can be mistaken for the one and only place of worship.
The Gotojen temple is dedicated to the Scholar and poet Sugawara no Michizane (August 1, 845 - March 26, 903) and located close to the Shinobazu Pond, while the Hanazono inari Temple is dedicated to the Inari Okami, or spirit of the foxes, and can be accessed by a gorgeous series of Japanese Torii.

On the way from Ueno park to Yanaka, you could feel the Japanese traditional scenery. And also could see a lot of cats around YANAKA Reien or YANAKA Ginza.
