Originally a Moorish fort, the Almohades built the first palace in the Mudejar style. Europeans established control in the late 15th century and kept or integrated much of the original Islamic architecture, considered to the best remaining examples of the Mudejar style.
PLAZA DE ESPANA & PARQUE MARIA LUISA
Constructed for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition, the plaza remains the centerpiece for several international pavilions, most now operating as museums. The complex is situated in Parque Maria Luisa, originally a royal garden it was donated by Maria Luisa for the people of Seville.

CATEDRAL DE SANTA MARÍA DE LA SEDE
Sevilla cathedral is the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. A monumental tangle of columns it seems to emphasize size above all else, and was clearly built (16th century) to demonstrate Spain's trading wealth. The bell tower,La Giralda, was originally part of a Mosque and retains much of it's elegant design.
